Last week Coleen and I took a drive around town to see if we could find some neat fences to share and we happened upon this one. I hope you enjoy it's "uniqueness" as much as we did.
First off this isn't exactly a "fancy" looking fence. It was pieced together with all kinds of mismatched boards as you can see from this view I took across the street from the fence so I could get a full view of the fence.
What I found interesting and unique were the metal inserts in the fence that were just randomly placed along the fence line. The top had mesh like wire. Inside the fence they had roses bushes and wha looked to be the start of a garden with wooden boxes filled with dirt.
Here you can see that the is a metal grate (?) with holes in it on the left of the photo that cast a fun shadow on the sidewalk. There is another one to the right on the back side of the fence. And then there were the grouping of what I thought were (gears or washers of some sort) but I'm probably wrong. Anyone know what they are?
Sharing a couple of closer views.
At the far end was a really large one:
Pretty strange indeed.
Then this fence joined a bit of chain link fencing which I couldn't fit in on the 1st shot. There on the porch was a nice little cat that came to visit us so I'm sharing that shot as well since there is a fence in the shot.
So that's my fence find for this week. Be sure to check out Theresa's blog and all the other great fence participants from around the world.
Have a great day.
very artful fence! love the portals they put into it!
ReplyDeletethat is a beautiful cat. and your fence wins Most Interesting Fence today. i am thinking someone decided to use what ever they had to build the fence, recycle fence and maybe the grates and the wire at the top is to let more sun get through the fence for the roses... or maybe they just had all this stuff and wanted to use it. a free fence. those round things are odd, no idea what they are
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual fence find...good job!And the kitty is so lovely. Looks to be well cared for.
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly unique. I bet the people who created it had a lot of fun collecting the accents!
ReplyDeleteforgot to tell you, i still can't email you, it pops back. cant figure why
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute cat? Is she looking for a little treat?
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
It is a different looking fence. And I do not see a reason why they placed inserts there..The shadows and the rose bushes sound nice. Cute kitty! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us close in slowly - not sure what the pieces are but it makes it interesting.
ReplyDeleteWell at first you might think "Boring old fence". But looking closer someone is going to a lot of thought and trouble to make the fence standout.
ReplyDeleteThat's a unique fence and I kind of like it. : )
ReplyDeleteIt is very different indeed, as if they are little portholes all about. They probably made each hole from nature a bit bigger too! Nice kitty, she's probably wondering what you were doing! Ha! Ha!
ReplyDeleteA very interesting fence, and I'm glad that you shared it with us. Very unusual and unqiue indeed. I have no ideas what these metal inserts are. The cat is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteNow that is ONE unique fence...or whatever it is! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteThat first fence is a work of art of sorts. Very creative and hopefully appreciated by the neighbourhood it is in.
ReplyDeleteWell, good grief, I think you found the most unique if not beautiful fence I have ever seen. Can't imagine what they were trying to accomplish except to keep people or animals out of their gardens. I think I would like to meet the creators of this fence ... or would I? Hmmmm ... Awesome post, Ida :)

ReplyDeleteWell that certainly is a different fence. What a find!
ReplyDeleteGood to meet you, Ida and thanks so much for commenting earlier on my post.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that is a pretty unusual but very interesting fence! The metal discs are really cool inserts!
Hope we can follow each other!
Enjoy your day!

Hi Ida, what a very unique and interesting fence. I am sure it was a lot of work to build and place those metal objects and different heights.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like this. Great pics.
Have a nice weekend sweet friend.
Hope you an your hubby are feeling better now!
Hugs, CM
It's rustic and quite unique. In some ways it reminds me of an old wooden barge.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance one would assume it was just pieces thrown together but thought went into piecing it together.
An interesting find Ida!
They look like little portholes in the fence.. Cute gray and white kitty.
ReplyDeleteI love this fence! So creative and a good use of re-purposed materials. I couldn't tell you what the 'gears' are - some seem to be sections of piping. I love that you can look in through the 'peep-holes'. Sweet little friend that you made, too!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, indeed. Somehow it really seems to be neat!
ReplyDeleteIt may not be fancy, but I like it! Very cool how they ran the planks horizontally!
ReplyDeleteLove that cat and I also rather like that fence, there seems to be so much going on in it!
ReplyDeletethose look like peep holes for children passing by. Love your shots and have missed seeing your blog recently for some reason. Hope you are having a great spring!
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone installed peepholes in their fence. It's the most unusual fence I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteHi Ida and Coleen, You certainly found a unique fence. That is a beautiful cat, too!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very nice fence share. It is certainly unique. I really appreciate your comments Ida and enjoy visiting you here too. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, I like that fence...just something about it. It is unusual....and such a nice kitty. I had a friend that used to always put bells on her kitties.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting fence? Nice to see an unusual fence for a change. I really like those metal discs. Love the kitty image!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that when I first looked at the top picture i thought you had caught a sheep snoozing by the fence!! This is a fun fence and unique to the house owner I should think. A great share.
ReplyDeleteI must say too, that I love your header picture, the real essence of spring.
Diana
That is quite unique, but strange as well. Not sure what those rings are?? Interesting though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cat you captured. He/she knew you loved cats :-)
Blessings, Debbie
What an amazing fence. I love it! I imagine some wildly creative person lives within with his/her pretty cat.
ReplyDeletelol, that was really a different decoration. :)
ReplyDeleteA very interesting fence and I loves the close ups.
ReplyDeleteHi Ida!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, that is a very different fence for sure. In one of the pics it looks like there is some white pipe fitting from plumbing but not sure. Maybe the owners are artists in their own or just using what they had found. Interesting at the least!
Great shots and glad I got to see them from joining the fence link up.

i love your header shot. ( :
ReplyDeletei guess those are doodads that work on drains? or? so creative.
I would call that a "steampunk' art fence! :)
ReplyDeletelove the peep holes in the fence. To answer your question about water gaps, to phrase it differently, they are gaps in the fence because of water, in our case Cripple Creek. We need to string wire across the "gap" to keep cattle from getting out of the field by walking up or down the creek and getting on the other side of the fence. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteThat is a funky fence!
ReplyDeleteyou find the coolest things ida, i like your neck of the woods!!
ReplyDeleteand peeps, thinking of this stuff, so neat!!!
Hi Ida, I have to say I've never seen a fence quite like this. Great selection for "Good Fences" ... It's quite unusual. Nice post and thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like the eccentric style of it. Nice find.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a quirky and charming fence. And a lovely kitty!
