Book Review: More For Girls Only

I received a copy of this book (More For Girls Only by Carolyn Larsen) from Tyndale Press in exchange for my honest review:

Excerpt from Tyndale Publishers:

More for Girls Only! Devotions provides real-life teaching based on key principles from the Bible. It will speak to young girls at a level they can relate to, using relevant terms and fun illustrations. Each devotion features an opening verse, devotion, self-evaluation quiz, ideas for application, memory verses, and original illustrations. Topics include caring for others, humility, cheating, worrying, and much more!

Girls will be encouraged to grow spiritually as they delve into these devotions each day.

My thoughts:

As the Grandmother of a nearly 11 year old granddaughter I had been searching for a book that would be helpful in teaching her Christian values that she would be able to relate to.  I was delighted when this Devotional arrived.  -  It's easy to read and understand.  There are some great illustrations (by Colonel Moutarde) as well.

I plan to actually use this book as a Study for a group of young girls from the church I attend.  - I showed this book to my granddaughter, Coleen and she thought it looked very interesting.

It's divided into different topics with an illustrative story about each topic.  There are Check-Up questions for the girls to answer, Things for them to do related to the topic, Things to remember which include scriptures for them to look up and read.

I think it will be a very valuable teaching resource for not just my granddaughter but the other girls who will be joining us.

Over all I think this is a very good book for young pre-teen girls.

  3. this sounds great!! I wonder if this is a book that my church would add to it's library. I might just have to buy a copy and give it to them.
