Seasons - Happy Halloween

Joining Jesh today for SEASONS - It's Halloween here in the USA so it's the season for "spooktacular" fun.

Lots of fun and semi-scary stuff here today.

My mom spotted these two while we were on a drive.

I like this pumpkin man - He's not to spooky.

These people put up quite a display in their yard.  This is just a small portion of their decorations.

Dracula was in the same yard as the Pumpkin man.  - I love his sign.

This bicycle is so funny.  There is a skelton rider, his skeleton dog and on his shoulder a skelton parrot. - Same house as the people with the scary skull featured earlier.

Lots of people were displaying stuff on their doors.  This one is a bit creepy.

Loved these cute little Halloween dogs.

Lots of ghosts & ghouls were hanging in trees.  - This is one of them.

A fun display of pumpkins we spotted.

A buzzard keeping watch on everything. Convereted to BW for a creepier effect.

                                                    Another Door find.

These people had several of these blow-ups in their yard.  I just shared the Harley rider.

Large Spiders on houses are also fun.

Finally a few webs and skulls to top off this Halloween Post.

                                            TRICK OR TREAT!

Willy Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Joining Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  Last week was quite the week.  We were dealing with a very sick kitty (Callie-Jo) and on Tuesday the school called and said I needed to pick Coleen up as she had injured herself.  - I called her mom since I was at bowling and she went to pick her up.

While playing Badminton she fell and ended up dislocating her knee cap and had to be taken to the hospital by Ambulance.  This is the picture the Principal of the school took of her in the Ambulance.  You can certainly see the pain on her face.

She's doing okay now but wearing a knee brace for another week and then will see an Orthopedic doctor to determine how well the knee has healed.

2.  We've been enjoying a lovely Fall here so far.  A few rainy days and some wind but the trees still have plenty of color to enjoy.

This is all the same tree.  The dark red leaves are mixed with yellow & green.  So pretty.

3.  I enjoy baking and trying out new recipes.  I recently found this recipe for Butterfinger Oatmeal cookies that sounded good so I tried it out.

Oh my gosh they were so yummy!  - I hope you'll click on the link for the recipe and give them a try yourself.

4.  Yesterday I was out driving around taking pictures and decided to stop and take pictures of some Halloween decorations.  I shot this particular display standing in the middle of the street (making sure no traffic was coming).  - Now here's the "corker"...when I got home my husband said the Police showed up at our house looking for me.  Apparently the people who live in the house called them because I was taking pictures of their house.  They have security camera's around there house.  Which by the way I've taken photos of their house before (see this post)

Good Grief,  It's not like I was in their yard or doing anything illegal.  What a waste of the Police's time.

5. Last but not least - Linking up here as well for FELINE FRIDAY

First I'd like to thank everyone who sent condolences on the loss of our sweet Callie-Jo last week.  She was and always will be a well loved cat.  We miss her greatly. - Of course being the "cat lovers" that we are we just had to share our home with another cat so I'd like to introduce you all to....

SPEEDY "G" (short for Speedy Gonzales)

He's already spoilt rotten and just the sweetest little kitten.  Callie-Jo would be pleased with our choice.

Have a great weekend.

Sparks 3 - Golden Rule

I'm a little "late" to the party but better late then never as they say.  - Joining, Annie (McGuffy's Reader) for SPARKS

Recently I had a Friend, "Unfriend" me on FB because I questioned a post she had up and she felt I was being disrespectful of her opinions.  - It was not my intention at all and I was really not trying to offend her.  It really shook me up when she unfriended me over something that I thought wasn't that bad.  It got me to thinking and so for today's post I'm leaving you with this thought:

I wonder if everyone practiced this rule what would happen.

In Memoriam - Callie-Jo 2008-2017

It's time to share a final good-bye to our sweet Callie-Jo here on the blog.

Click to enlarge photos (Especially the Collages).

In late August of this year we had taken her to the vet because she was vomiting and not eating.  At that time they determined she was running a fever and prescribed Antibiotics for her.  I spent 7 days feeding her with a syringe before she started eating on her own.  She seemed to rally back although we noticed she was losing weight.

This past week she started vomiting again and not eating so we took her back to the Vet.  She had numerous tests done but they could not figure out what was causing her to lose the weight and become dehydrated.  Without an exploratory surgery they just couldn't say what was wrong other then she was a very sick kitty.

They feel from some of the tests that she most likely had some kind of intestinal cancer.   They didn't feel even if they did surgery that she would be strong enough to survive the surgery and if she did it would be a long road to recovery.  On Thursday we made the decision to have her put to sleep.  It was so very hard to do as when we went to say our final good-bye's she seemed so happy to see us and on the outside she really didn't look sick at all.  I can't begin to tell you how hard it was to let her go but I know she is pain free now & in a better place.

This tiny little kitten at our house in March of 2008 - My hubby had went out of town on a job and I stopped in at a local pet store and saw her and fell in love.  I just had to bring her home even though he said we didn't need another cat. They bonded with each other right away and she often would take naps with him.

This is one of my favorite pictures of her as a kitten.  Coleen was just 3 years old and decided one day to read Calli-Jo a story.

She even helped my husband by supervising his painting skills.

She was quite musical as well...

Here she is playing the guitar!

When we first got Callie-Jo we had another older cat named, Nuisance.  For several days the two of them were insperable.  She stayed by his side almost all day long.  Then one night he got really sick and we rushed him to the Vet and the next day he passed away at home.  We think she knew he was going to die and wanted to comfort him.

She was such a sweet and loving cat.  We often called her "Wonky Face" because she had the part siamese part calico features that made her look quite different.

Here are some of her "Wonky Faces"

She earned the nickname, Space Cadet because she would often just stare up at the ceiling at nothing at all.

 She was just so funny.

In the mornings when I would take a shower she would sit on the edge of the tub and wait until I pulled the shower curtain open then she would sit and watch the water drip down the shower walls.

She loved getting into cardboard boxes of any size along with baskets and laying on purses.

She was loved by all the cats and all of us.   There are probably many more photos and stories I could tell you about our Callie-Jo and maybe someday she'll be featured again in loving memory shots. She will truly be missed.

Rest in Peace Miss Callie-Jo - Always in our hearts.

Rainbow Bridge Crossing - Callie-Jo

Much to emotional right now to say more but I wanted to let you all know we lost Callie-Jo today.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Fences around the World and some Black & White shots

Joining Gosia (Looking For Identity) for FENCES AROUND THE WORLD

It's almost Halloween and around here a lot of people love to decorate their yards for the holiday.

Spotted this fence on the way to the Bowling Alley this week.

The fence was handmade and looks super realistic.  Almost like rusty metal.
The grasses in the background and the tombstone in the yard add to the spooky fun.

Loving the skulls on the fence posts.

Also this week I've been doing a challenge on Facebook where you post 1 Black and White Photo of your daily life.  No Humans, No Explanations.  This was yesterday's photo.

This is today's photo:

Have a great day.
