Sparks 3 - Golden Rule

I'm a little "late" to the party but better late then never as they say.  - Joining, Annie (McGuffy's Reader) for SPARKS

Recently I had a Friend, "Unfriend" me on FB because I questioned a post she had up and she felt I was being disrespectful of her opinions.  - It was not my intention at all and I was really not trying to offend her.  It really shook me up when she unfriended me over something that I thought wasn't that bad.  It got me to thinking and so for today's post I'm leaving you with this thought:

I wonder if everyone practiced this rule what would happen.

  1. Hello Ida! It's a great rule to live by but one I find so hard to remember on the spur of the moment! I'm guilty of over reacting and then I later regret it!

  2. I have had similar things happen, sadly. You are very right, Ida. It all comes down to how we want to be treated. I believe in karma, too. Thank you for adding Sparks. Shine! ❤

  4. Ida,

That's horrible and obvious not a "real" friend to unfriend you on FB. We live in a social that's so easily offended. Well...EXCUSE ME! This really ruffles my feathers to hear such nonsense as this person treating you like that! IMO, this person should be ashamed and beg you for forgiveness for acting like bottom-wipe. The world has gone crazy! *step off soap box* Okay...now that I have THAT off my chest, I love your quote and one I firmly live by. Wouldn't it be grand if all people applied this simple truth to their lives? People need to get over being offended at the drop of hat. This is just ridiculous. What cry babies! *okay, step off soap box again* Can you tell this is a sore spot with me? It's funny, I don't think I've ever been unfriend or maybe I have and just didn't notice because...well, obviously they weren't important enough to notice that they did it. lol But, I hear about people getting the shaft like this all the time and it really crawls all over me. Don't sweat over it, don't give it a second thought. Just pray for this person to have a change of heart because it really all boils down to what's on the inside and that's where it has to start. Have an awesome day!

  6. people get really upset if there is a difference of opinon. especially on social media. sorry you had this experience. I do know it would be wonderful if we all followed this golden rule and I do know it will never happen. I had one that blocked me from blog and FB... did not bother me one bit, because who needs friends that do that.

  8. A good rule to live by. It's sad that these days people don't seem to be able to agree to disagree. Not everyone has the same opinions and can you imagine how boring it would get if we all did

  9. Yes, we need more of the Golden Rule in these days of strife.

  12. First off, that is a gorgeous photo Ida.
My granny used to tell us that all the time.
My mother never told us the "golden rule, but she did tell us to "do into others before they do unto you."
That was pretty much how she lived.
I'm happy to say that my granny rubbed off on me MUCH more than my mom did.

  13. I wonder if they still teach the golden rule in school! It's a way of life and you are always so thoughtful my friend. Hugs, Diane

  14. I missed a couple of your recent posts, so now I'm backtracking. This photo is gorgeous and captures Autumn so lovely. The quote is one everyone talks about, but few follow. I'm concerned our society has become overly sensitive towards comments and differing opinions. Gone are the days of civil discourse and it seems more and more people are "offended" at one thing or another when it differs from their worldview. I'm concerned soon no one will be able to voice an opinion for fear of someone taking offense and overreacting.

  15. Oh, if only all people would do that...I had a relative unfriend me and I do not know why. Years ago....then she acts so sweet if I see her.
