Saturday morning I felt like eating "Waffles" so I asked hubby if he'd fix me one. Being the nice guy he is he agreed to make waffles if we had the ingredients. Our waffle mix was low but he said he'd make it work and got everything all mixed up and ready to go. Then I hear him say, "What on earth!" and so I had to go see what he was all upset about. I walk in the kitchen and this is what I see...(Warning....it's UGLY!)
Scroll down to see photo.
The last time we ha waffles someone (not sure who) put the waffle iron away without taking this waffle out. ICKY!!!! - Suddenly I lost my appetite for Waffles and we ended up having pancakes instead.
We decided to get a new Waffle Iron since we just weren't sure what that ugly Mold did to the inside of the iron after being there for who knows how long. Besides that iron was a good 20 years old or better so getting a new one now seems like the right thing to do.
Bon' Appetite!

Coleen and the Fairy Puzzle Book
The other day Coleen got a package in the mail from my friend Elena (The Redhaired Girl) and inside was this wonderful puzzle book. Each of the pages has a story and then the other side is a jigsaw puzzle about the story. The book is all about Fairies and is just gorgeous. Coleen loved the book and has already put together several of the puzzle pages.
She also received a wonderful card which you can see here:
Here is another picture of Coleen putting together one of the puzzles.
Thank you so much Elena for sending this to Coleen for her birthday. What a special gift.

Photo of the Day
Well you know what they say..."There's no crying over Spilt Milk."
This seems to be the norm for me the last couple of days. It's just been a busy week with back to back birthday celebrations and trying to keep up with everything else.
Today I just lost my grip (literally) and well here is the result. The cats all looked at me like I was nuts (maybe I am)...funny thing none of them offered to clean this mess up.

Birthday Girls
Well here they are: First up is my mom (who hates her picture taken) so this is the best I could get
Happy 82nd Birthday Mom
We had a busy day (1-18) as we had Bowling league in the morning. Then after lunch mom & I went shopping. Next I baked a cake and wrapped presents. Then we went to dinner (AppleBees) and then the rest of the family was over for the cake, ice cream and presents. There were 17 people crammed into my mom's small living room. Lots of noise, laughs and family fun.
Here's the other birthday girl, Coleen (1-19) who turned 6 today. Happy Birthday Bug!
This was taken this morning before school. She got to open a couple of small gifts before heading off to school. So hard to get good pictures of her these days as she always makes a weird face now or is closing her eyes in a lot of the shots.
Plus I've been having picture taking issues lately. Last night I forgot to take the camera off of the "night shot" setting so everything was rather dull/dark looking. Also can't seem to take pictures without them blurring on me. I think I need to read the manual again.
More birthday photo's will follow after her party tonight.

Tuesday Recap
Well as you know from Yesterday's post it was the anniversary of my dad's passing. I wanted that post to be the main post of the day so today is just a recap of what else happened yesterday.
Bowling...Oh gosh do I "hate" the new oil they put on the lanes YES I DO! - In the past 3 weeks I've dropped 3 pins on my average. Having a hard time adjusting to the way my ball rolls now with all that oil. Scores...145-138-153
Took flowers out to the Cemetery with my mom for dad's grave.
Worked on a card which will be posted tomorrow night for the AnnaBelle challenge.
http://faithartistry.blogspot.com/ which is my Stamping Blog.
Watched a movie: The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Nicholas Cage
This one we really enjoyed. It had some great special effects and even though the story was predictable it was fun and easy to watch.
After that I watched: Cupcake Wars & Chopped on the Food Network Challenge.
So today (Wednesday) our furnace went on the fritz (again) so we are waiting to have them come out and look at it. It's cold outside, barely up to 30 so you know it's not going to be to warm inside either. I'm hold up in my Stamp Room with the space heater on. Coleen's next door with "Granny" because I don't want her getting to chilled by being at our house without any heat.
Couldn't resist the phot of Cuddles and Harley on the couch this morning. Don't they look comfy!

Remembering
Henry Peter Antes
May 27, 1920-January 4, 1998
My DAD - This photo was taken a few years before he passed away but I really like it because he had that wonderful smile on his face and that "twinkle" in his eye and that is how I remember my dad best.
He loved life and always enjoyed a good joke.
Fishing was his passion and you could almost always bet that as soon as fishing season opened he would be at the lake or up fly fishing on one of the mountain streams. He also hunted for many years. He enjoyed bowling, model trains, stamp collecting and much more. He loved the family cats, a good bowl of ice cream every night before bed, he loved his family and worked hard to provide for them.
It's been 13 years now since he's been gone but I still think of him often and miss him a lot (I was his "little girl" till the day he died). I know he's in Heaven now with his Savior but sometimes it would just be nice to hear his voice again and just sit down and chat for awhile.
Love you always dad!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
The "Gang" (Ida, Mike, Greta, Granny (aka my mom) and Coleen.
Fireworks - We bought a few this year and Coleen sure enjoyed them. Maybe a few more next time.
Spent the evening eating a lot of food (Hot Wings, Meatballs, Potato Salad, Cheeses, Meats, Shrimp, Veggies, Nuts, Pigs in a Blanket and Ice Cream.
Watched Movies: (Shrek the Final Chapter and How to Train Your Dragon) - Both cute and fun.
Set off the Fireworks outside in the FREEZING cold. Had a Champagne & Ginger Ale Toast and then headed off to bed around 1:00 am. - Not a bad start to the New Year.
New Years Day...Watched the Rose Parade, Ate left overs from the night before. Helped take down the outside lights/decorations. Watched another movie, (The Backup Plan) - Okay but not spectacularly entertaining either.
Day 2 or today...Went to church, Fixed Nacho's (the last of the junk food) as we are planning on losing weight this year. Took down the Christmas tree and put away the Nativity set. The rest of the decorations get put away this week. Hubby shoved the couch into my big toe and bruised it pretty good. OUCH!!!
Watched Iron Chef and The Worst Cooks in America (Oh my gosh it's hard to believe that some people cook that badly.)
That's it for now. I hope to post more regularly this year and sometimes it will be just general "chit chat" but it's a good way to keep track of what happens through out the year so I'll give it a good go and hopefully not "bore" you to death.
