Happy Friday! - It's time for Photo Art Friday. I wasn't sure if I was going to participate or not today. Bonnie had given us the option to post any piece of Photo Art we wanted (or) to use one of her textures and a layer mask to remove texture from part of our image. I really wanted to use the layer mask but I just could not figure out how to use one in Gimp and after trying to find tutorials and understand them I decided that I just wasn't going to master that technique this week. I'm planning to invest in a book on how to use the Gimp program so I can learn about Layer Masks etc...
So instead you are getting a piece of Photo Art that started from this photo taken last November.
I played around with the photo in Gimp and added Bonnie's texture:
Notes to Myself. It helped to cover up some of the large (Bokeh) space aka (Sun) in the upper left hand side of the photo.
Then I went into Gimp and edited the photo using the Van Gogh technique. This really changed the photo giving it the feel of a Painting. - Next up I went into Picnik to add the text and quote from Helen Keller. So here is the end result.
Be sure to stop by Bonnie's blog - You should see her Pear piece, It's wonderful! Then check out the other enteries as well. Next week is going to be very interesting with the theme so check back again.
Oh Ida, that is wonderful. Didn't you do well.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Vincent would recognize this technique as his own, unless it was his very early work. But it made for a beautiful painterly image.
Ida, this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love all of that wonderful light, and your processing on this is fantastic.
Sending you wishes for a fantastic weekend.
The colors you used are lovely and the leafy autumn trees provide a soft, subdued background in your example.
ReplyDeleteWonderful compositions, I love those soft textures. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteVery good.
what a beauty!!!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add my signature...but I don't know how!
Your colors are really rich!
A lovely result - so peaceful! I don't know anything about Gimp so I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on using it.... Your project turned out great w/o the layer mask.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great result! Love the use of texture and technique you used. I don't know anything about Gimp so I'm afraid I can't be of any help......
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job and I would never know that you hadn't studied tutorials ;) I will have to look into Gimp...
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the vanGogh effect - I'll have to go and try that out!
ReplyDeleteNice work. Text on the right spot. :)
ReplyDeleteA good photos with an excellent frame and exquisite light. Saludos.

Hope you're having a great weekend so far!!
Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteWow Ida, that's beautiful, it does look like a painting. Love looking at your work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. You really did turn your photo into art. I've been curious about Gimp so it's very interesting to me to see someone using it. Isn't Picnik fun? Have you tried Pixlr? Lots of great effects there as well, for free.
ReplyDeleteUnderbara färger. Tack för din kommentar hos mig. Anita
ReplyDeleteIda this is a great edit. You have given it a painterly feel - and even a bit of what is known as the "Orton Effect" which softens and slightly blurs the image to give it a dreamy effect. I'm so glad you decided to share it with PAF!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful creation of photo art....
ReplyDeleteI like both
