Hi and Happy Friday.
It's time to join Tanya from (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE
1. It's a balmy day here today with the temperature being 67 outside. I woke up this morning and discovered our van was covered in a film of dust from the wind last night and then the dampness from our rains just caked it on. That thing needs to go to the Car Wash! More rain is on the way though so it should wash it all off.
Last week one morning I discovered frosty looking feathers on the van windshield. I took this photo inside the van and you can just see the outline of the brown fence behind where I park.
2. Our Postmaster is (nuts). He wants to change mail delivery to a centralized location where we'd all have to have boxes somewhere down the street and walk to them to get out mail. Of course he can't do this without our permission and believe me I will say NO WAY if it comes to that. In the meantime they are trying to raise funds to renovate the Post Office, I don't think that this news is going to gain them many supporters.
This is a photo I took last fall of our Post Office.
3. Our state is (nuts). There was an article in the paper the other night about wanting to do away with Daylight Savings time. You can read about it here: Personally I like Daylight Savings time myself. I enjoy the day being longer in the summer and quite frankly I don't have any problem with the sleeping thing that they seem so concerned about. Any thoughts on this?
This has nothing to do with daylight savings but as I was out walking a little yesterday I happened to spot this mossy area in the alley I was walking through and thought it looked pretty and refreshing.
4. The sun was out for about an hour yesterday! I was trying to take a nap (shhhh I know, naps are for "old" people) when I noticed the sun so I got up and grabbed the camera and went for a little walk. I spied this creepy little fellow in a small flower bed and snapped it's picture.
I also spotted these guys in a little creek nearby.
5. Yesterday Coleen and I stopped by the local Humane Society to look at the cats they have there. We spent about an hour there playing with the cats and the one kitten they had. I learned that they are now a "no-kill" shelter which made me quite happy. I would have loved to have brought a couple of the cats home with me but with 6 of our own already I had to just enjoy petting the kitties there and then going home.
Joining in for FELINE ART here with this watercolor version of the photo I used in yesterday's post. You can view the original photo of Snickers there.
Below is the piece I used this same photo on in yesterdays post. I thought it was worth including here today as well.

Have a Great Weekend and thanks for stopping by.
love the water skimmers. you've got some warm temps, there!
ReplyDeleteNice cat-artwork... and a flying dog ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch post-boxes we had earlier in the GDR too (I've worked as post-woman), because we had to little peoples to bring the post to all distant houses.
Love the feathery windshield art! Gorgeous photos today, and so nice of you to give some love to the kitties at the shelter. I love that they are no-kill. We have had such a mild winter - I keep worrying we are going to get a deep freeze. My daffy's are starting to bloom! Lovely post office there. We have a P.O. box because of all the mail theft - might be worth thinking about. Enjoy your balmy weather! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteAs a cat lover I fell for your cat art.
ReplyDeleteAll the best.

Gee, I wish it was in the 60's here.. I did not know the post office could ask for donations. I would have a hard time visit the humane society, I would want to come home with something.. I like your kitty art. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDelete#1 67! Really? Nice!
ReplyDelete#2 This happen often. Life is all about choices. Walk to a centralized location or drive to the Post Office to get your junk mail.
#3 That is nutty.
#4 Do you live in a creepy neighborhood?
#5 You can take this "more the merrier thing too far."

By goodness, there is so much to see here today. That creepy little fellow in the garden is a Gargoil whch is supposed to protect you from evil ... not bad to have around. Now I am wondering where you live that you have open water with water bugs skitting around on the surface. If they lived here they would have to be wearing ice skates. Now for your watercolr of your beautiful cat ... I really like that effect. Great post, Ida ... kept me entertained for quite awhile.

Love that second from last photo...the one above that one you did yesterday. As to the daylight savings time...I grew up with it, but then in Indiana we just a few years ago changed over to it. I don't feel much one way or the other...feel like there is still 24 hrs in a day. I guess if you work, it can make it seem like you have a longer evening...but the down side is that young children are harder to get to bed when it is till day light at their bedtime.
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get in the 50's this weekend...I don't mind that at all.
I love frost feathers. One of the things I've noticed in our house is that the replacement windows don't get them, but the old windows still have them. Even though they leak cold air like crazy, I kind of like the old windows better because of that. I don't care about Daylight Savings Time, but I just wish they would pick a time and stick with it. I have a terrible time adjusting when the time changes. But it can be DST, if most people like it. Just leave it be.
ReplyDeleteLike the little balconies. : )
ReplyDeleteIt was 66 degrees warmer where you are than here this morning!!
Lots of fun tidbits in this post. I wouldn't mind doing away with Daylight Savings Time. I don't like the change twice a year.
ReplyDeletePretty frost. Our weather has been so mild this year we've barely seen any frost at all. But lots of rain these past few days.
Have a good weekend.
Lovely post and a very enjoyable read. The photos are wonderful and that's a great one of the cat. I also love your header photo. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteBalmy! I think forty would be balmy around here. So enjoyed your pictures.
ReplyDeleteSnickers looks beautiful as a watercolour. We have daylight saving time here in the UK and it's very controversial as lots of people (self included) would rather stay in British Summer Time which makes better use of our natural daylight hours. Our winter months are just so dark and dismal. It would be a shame if you lost your postal deliveries. I'm sure they're a lifeline for many housebound folk who wouldn't be able to walk to these new boxes down the street. Hope you get your way on that one, Ida. All the best for now, Bonny
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Ida!
ReplyDeleteConcerning the postal services, things seem to be the same the world over...
Have a nice weekend!
Hello Ida!:) Lots of things to see on your blog today.I must say that from your photo the post office looks in good nick from outside, so I'm guessing the renovations are inside.I can see how you would vote no in a referendum. We have a key to our mail box at the post office in town for collections, as we live up a mountain.I love the cat water colour, did you do it?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!:)
Ida, I have to disagree with you... I hate daylight savings time. I never could figure out why they had it. You either get up and drive to work in the dark to have more daylight in the evening. Or you get up, drive to work with light and have it get dark earlier at night. You are gonna have the same amount of daylight no matter which end of the day you stick it.
ReplyDeletelove the watercolor kitty and the art you used it in. and i have not seen water bugs in many years. great shot of them.. i love the architecture of your post office. i vote to stop the time change. we both do not like time change... i like it to stay like it is... if they vote on it will probably be half and half, just like in politics.
ReplyDeleteSome lovely pictures as I read this on a Saturday morning. Your kitten picture is very sweet. I can't imagine having 6 cats! But I'm a dog person.
ReplyDeleteI love DST. Are you in Oregon? I saw in our old local paper (online) that the Legislature is alo considering getting rid of it. (Nuts) is a very kind word for that, IMHO. Since we don't live or vote there any longer, I suppose it wouldn't be worth (complaining)!
ReplyDeleteFirst the PO wants to cut out Saturday deliveries and now they want to put your mailboxes in a community spot...what next!! Wow you have been warm with 67 degrees. It has warmed up here to the upper 30's with the snow melting fast. Love your watercolor of your kitty!!
ReplyDeleteUh, I love (!) your last photo art image. It looks so abstract - beautiful. I think it would do great in my new(ish)s~A(R)T~urday linky. I'd love to have you share it there.
ReplyDeleteAs for daylightsaving - I am with you. I love the longer days in summer and don't have a problem adjusting either.
I envy you for your 67 °F - it has been way too cold for way too long here. And a lot of snow and ice as well. Not my thing at all.
Love the architecture on the post office. The cat art is awesome. I just would like them to pick a time change and stick with it.. I would probably like to do away with DST.
ReplyDeleteLovely images and certainly reason not to get your car washed! I particularly love those watercolor images of your beautiful Snickers, magnificent! (I'm way behind on blog reading lately...please forgive me!)
ReplyDeleteAnytime I can get an extra hour of daylight I will take it!
ReplyDeleteyour post office is beautiful! ours is tiny and plain! but the people on the inside are always very nice. i love daylights savings too! i would hate to do away with it. i know a lot of people complain about it but i am not one of them! thank you for linking!!
ReplyDeleteMy windows used to get frosted like that but last year we got replacement windows. I like being warmer but I miss the pretty patterns on the glass. Rebecca
ReplyDeleteI love that "frozen art" on your window. Superb!
ReplyDeleteHi Ida,
ReplyDeleteThe watercolor of the kitty is very cute.
Glad to hear y'all had nice weather. So did we!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Love the kitty art!! [and that image of the post office shows a lot more character than any government building I've ever seen]
ReplyDeletewe have those centralized boxes in our neighborhood... mail is not deliver to our door unless it's a big package. I am not that fond of this system because surprisingly it's rather easy to forget your mail for a couple of days. Also, you need a key - so yet another key to keep. And of course, you have to walk to get your mail. We are lucky that it is just around the corner, so it's not too bad. but I know peopple at the way other end say they only go about once per week!
ReplyDeleteLove the little gargoyle in the garden.
Your cat art is wonderful and the one is very atmospheric. Suzy x
ReplyDeleteWitam i dziękuję za miłe odwiedziny.
ReplyDeleteohhhh 67, that's a wonderful temperature!!!
ReplyDeletelove the cat, that looks like a painting....it's really beautiful!!!
I don't have any trouble with the sleeping thing, either. You do have a beautiful post office. I think Walla Walla has grown a lot since the last time I was there. That was way back when I was a teenager. Seems like yesterday, but it was so NOT! Love the kitty art, of course!
