Feline Art: The cat from yesterdays post (not the fake one) Editied as a watercolor image and framed.
Feline Friday:
Our own little, Bandit playing a game on Coleen's kindle.
Six Word Fridays:
I tell you it is hard to only use (6) words sometimes.
This weeks word: Face
That face, that funny face - Sure brought a smile to my face!
Spotted this guy last week at the Ducky Derby Race. He looks bored and well he should. More on that next.
Willy-Nilly Friday Five.
1. The Ducky Derby Race this year was quite a disappointment. Yes they held the event but the ducks weren't allowed to float down the creek like normal. Instead they just dumped them in an open field and some guy pulled out random ducks as the winners. Pretty boring if you ask me. - I'll post other photo's of the race in another post but for today you get this photo of the ducks waiting to be dumped out onto the grass.
2. I went to the bank the other day and saw the neatest flowering shrub there. I asked the ladies what it was and was told it was a Rhodendron. Well not having ever seen a Rhodendron that looked like that I had to go look it up. After much research I discovered it was actually a Pink Mountain Laurel. I went back to the bank to take pictures and to let them know what I found out. I would love to have one of these bushes. Apparently they grow back in the eastern part of the United States.
3. Spotted this classic car in someone's driveway. I thought it was cool looking so I took a photo. Don't you just love those "fins."
4.
Coleen and I took Pixie (my mom's dog) for a short walk yesterday. Coleen picked this up and showed it to me. I told her it's the seed pod off a Cottonwood Tree. They make such a mess in the spring with all that white fluff floating through the air. I found a really cool story though about the "Fluff" here: http://rosyfinch.com/fluff.html I think you'll enjoy it. I know I did.
5. It's Crazy Hair Day at Coleen's school today. Her mom did up her hair last night and here are the results. Note I could not get that girl to smile naturally for me so what you see is what you get.
Oops I almost forgot CAPTION THIS: The Winner This Week Is.......
Once again Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) made me laugh with her caption:
Thanks to all who participated.
So here is this weeks CAPTION THIS photo.
After next week I'll be posting all the Caption This photos to have you vote on the best one for the month and then choose a winner to receive a prize from me.
Well that's it for me today. I've got to get busy and get stuff for the picnic we are going on tomorrow. - Have a great weekend everyone.
Love the cute kitty, Coleen's new do and the camel is neat.. Wishing you a happy Memorial Day Weekend!

ReplyDeletewe had a caddy exactly like this one, it was a 3rd car. we needed a new king size mattress so we sold it and bought a be
colleen's hair turned out great. the duck derby...wow. what a bust! the mountain laurel is gorgeous! as for the caption for this week: 'come on! say it just once! you know you want to..."guess what day it is?"
ReplyDeleteI vote for Coleen's special hair-do shots as the best photos. They are cool.
ReplyDeleteWe have some Rhododendrons here in Atlanta. They are pretty like the ones you have photographed.
All the mug-shots are very nice, especially of the kitty & the dogo.
Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend, Ida.
Peace :)
#1 What kind of Ducky Derby Race was that.
ReplyDelete#2 Yes this is a Mountain Laurel and a nice one.
#3 I'm in LOVE!
#4 This is the ONLY time that cottonwood seeds looks nice. What a mess.
#5 Crazy nice.

The photo of Bandit is GREAT! Love the fins on the car and yes, the mountain laurel grew alongside the creek at our north GA home we shared with my mom. The blooms remind me of old fashioned Southern Belle's hoop skirts! (like Scarlett O'Hara)
ReplyDeleteHave a fun picnic.
I will look forward to seeing everybody else's creative caption for that cute camel pic. I'm not very good at that. That mountain laurel is beautiful, I've never seen it, but sure would have known (as you did) that is was definitely no rhododendron. People are so funny, thinking they know everything;
ReplyDeleteall the images are very fun...have a great day!
ReplyDeleteColeen's hair is so neat. All your pictures are nice.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post..love Coleen's new do. LOL
ReplyDeleteFor the caption...'Why do I have to stand here and hold up this fence?'
or
'if I move this whole fence will fall down.'
Love the animals and the crazy hair! I purchased a mountain laurel once but it died. They do well in the forests here.
ReplyDeleteNice hairdo for Coleen, cute and funny "mom, he is touching me!" and camel photo!
ReplyDeleteIda, love the cat in the field/yard of flowers! You caught some pretty bokeh there. I like Coleen's hair.. :) That car is very cool, I think my parents probably had a car similar to that only turquoise and white in color. Shame about the Duck Derby... I hate seeing them in that big old dump truck! Have a great holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI invite you to see new photos on my blog.
Have a nice weekend.
I like your cat, thank you for joining Feline Art Friday.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you "watercolored" and framed that great cat photo! The dog's face made me laugh! I just don't understand about the ducks in the grass....they aren't real, they are rubber duckies, so how did they "do" anything to win? In a body of water, I get it, but on the GRASS???
ReplyDeleteLoved the winner of the tulip picture caption! My offering for the camel shot is: "It was horrible! I was kidnapped. Do you know how I can get back to the desert?"
As I was catching up on your blog, I was wondering about Bandit. Glad to see him make an appearance :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a similar duck event in a town I live near each summer. I hope it doesn't get kicked off the water as well. Boring (yawn).
I keep trying to get our cat to play one of those kitty games, but he's never interested! I guess he's just not a techie kitty. LOL
ReplyDeletethat's a beautiful plant.
I am picking my brain trying to get a caption for that camel pic!! And just...nothing! I am disappointed i myself.
The cutest in thisd post isn't the cat, but Colleen...
ReplyDeleteAnd the rododendron flowers are very nice and especially, never seen such before.
What a boring ducking race (here i a nearby town they makesuch racings too)!
Have a great time
I'm with you on the wisdom of cats over philosophers! Colleen's hair looks great. Her mum has done a fabulous job. All the best and enjoy your picnic, Bonny
ReplyDeleteI love it all...especially lovi' the new doo....
ReplyDeleteColleen's crazy hair is actually very cute!! I love that Pink Mountain Laurel.
ReplyDeleteYour mountain laurel reminds me of a springtime drive we took through the Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Trail. The hills were just covered with them as well as dogwood. Just back from Illinois, where the flowers were so colorful. Here in Florida it already feels like midsummer.
ReplyDeleteThe artistic rendition of the cat photo is beautiful. I love the bulldog's face.
ReplyDeleteI love that old car!
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny doggie face!
ReplyDeleteare we captioning the last picture?? already i can't remember??? i thought of "let me out and i'll lick you"!! or kiss you?????? or the obvious...."happy hump day"!!!!
ReplyDeletei love coleen's hair!!!!
sorry the derby was so disappointing, i know you were hoping to win! oh that face is right, so darn cute!! LOVE that vintage car photo...it's like stepping back in time....miss colleen's hair turned out cute!! thanks for linking!
ReplyDeletePretty pictures! I love Coleen's hair. The first time I saw cottonwood seed fluff blowing in the breeze it was absolutely magical. It was a large grove and it seemed almost like a fairy blizzard. Much nicer than the evergreen pollen we're getting all over the cars now.
