Good Fences - A Winter Fence

Welcome! - Yes I've been very absent from the blog this month.  It happens every December when the holidays roll around. - I'm still alive and doing well and hope you all are too.

Joining Gosia (Looking For Identity) for GOOD FENCES today.

Taken last week after our huge snow dump. - Which thankfully has almost all melted now.

The sun was out that morning and I got brave enough to take a short walk.  The neighbors a couple of blocks down the street tied these red bows to their fence.  I think they look pretty and wintery.

Hoping to stop by your blogs soon. - I will be back on a regular blogging schedule after the first of the year.

Thank you to all my blog friends and visitors for another fabulous year of blogging and friendship.

Just in case I don't post on Christmas Day - Merry Christmas & for those who don't celebrate Christmas.....Happy Holidays!

Book Review - Fatal Frost

Today I am reviewing (Fatal Frost) by Nancy Mehl.  - I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

This book is the first in a series, (Defenders of Justice).

Here is an overview from Bethany House:

Following in her absentee father's footsteps in a law enforcement career, U.S. Marshal Mercy Brennan has just recovered from being shot in the line of duty. And, unbeknownst to her, her father's recent reappearance in her life has put her in the sights of St. Louis's most powerful gang. Her boss assigns Deputy U.S. Marshal Mark St. Laurent--Mercy's ex-boyfriend--to get her out of town until her safety can be guaranteed.

Unaware of the extent her boss and Mark have been keeping her in the dark, it isn't until a freak ice storm strands them at a remote location and out of contact with the district office that the full severity of their situation becomes clear. As the storm worsens, the forces of nature combine with a deadly enemy to put them in great danger. Can they survive long enough for help to arrive--if help is even coming at all?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My thoughts on the book:  First off I decided to review this book because I like watching Crime shows on television and thought that this book would fulfil that passion for solving crimes.

The main Character is Mercy Brennan a US Marshal.  Mercy seemed to be very controlled and precise in her thinking and actions.  Suddenly she is thrust into a situation that she doesn't have full control over. - She is sent on a mission along with her former boyfriend, Mark St. Laurent who is also a US Marshal.  They along with her friend, Tally, a Police officer encounter a dangerous situation that could cost them their lives.

I found that the book started out somewhat confusing for me.  The plot dealt with the Drug Cartel and The Police Department in St. Louis, Missouri. - For the most part it was feasible as far as the plot of the story although I do think in some places it was a little far-fetched.

Of course along the way there is an attraction between Mercy and Mark that reignites as they face this situation together.  Mercy though is reluctant to trust anyone due to suffering losses in her childhood that made her rely solely on herself in any situation.  Plus the fact that Mark became a Christian during their early relationship and Mercy had no desire to believe in God as a result of her early childhood disappointments.  She couldn't see keeping Mark in her life after he accepted Christ.  Through the events that they face in the story she eventually comes to realize that God is real and that she can trust in someone other than herself.

It was an enjoyable read although I did find it to be somewhat predictable.

I've read one other book by this author that I enjoyed (Deadly Echoes) more as the story seemed more believable and held my interest just a little more than this one did.

I would have to give this book perhaps 3.5 stars overall.

Good Fences and Little Things Thursday - December 8, 2016

Welcome - Yes, I'm still alive! - We've been dealing with some family issues lately that have required a lot of my time so I haven't been on the computer much at all.  Today though I want to share a few photos for;

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY and GOOD FENCES.

Well it's official....we've had our first snowfall of the winter season.

The Ginger Bread People in my mom's yard look mighty chilly.

The birds in the neighbors bushes don't seem to mind the cold or the snow.

The back neighbors trees at sunset last night.  They look so pretty.

Coleen never misses a chance to go out and play in the snow.

Oh to be a child again and enjoy the wonder of winter.

Just for fun...Cat's like to sleep and not worry about being outside in the cold.

And for Good Fences....

                                         My mom's Chain Link

Across the street from our house. - It sure looks wintery and cold.

The "Link" for Good Fences does not appear to be up yet though.

Good Fences #140 - Thankful

Welcome!

To All My American Followers:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! - To everyone else I wish you a very pleasant & happy day.

Last week Theresa announced that this week would be her last week hosting GOOD FENCES as she is stepping back from the blogging world. - I was to say the least shocked and sadden to hear that news. - I've never met Theresa personally but I feel as if I know her through her wonderful blog and posts.  I've laughed over the antics of her famous Whistler Duck posts, enjoyed reading about her dogs & life on the Run-a-round Ranch and of course had a great time with Good Fences.  She will certainly be missed in the blog world (although I secretly hope she'll pop in now & then with a post or two now & then.)

Here is my fence post for today. - Click to Enlarge Photos.

Took a drive with my mom & Coleen last week and we spotted a field filled with Wild Turkeys.  I pulled over and snapped a few photos of them.  Ther is of course a fence in the shots - Enjoy.

Finally - I am so Thankful for wonderful people like Theresa who have allowed us into their lives through their blogs. - It has been a pleasure sharing Good Fence posts with you Theresa and I wish you the best in whatever direction your life is leading you.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone & God Bless.

Good Fences #139 - Something Is Missing

Welcome - I always seem to be apologizing for not posting much or getting around to visit blogs. - My life lately has been taken up by looking after my mom.  She developed Edema & an Infection in her legs.  The infection is gone now after a 2 week course of Antibiotics which I had to give her every 6 hours.  The Edema is now being treated by a Home Nurse who comes out at least once a week to wrap her legs but I need to be there when she does as my mom doesn't hear real well and depends on me to tell her what people are saying. - So if I don't pop by your blog you'll know that it's because I'm busy.

So now it's time to join Theresa for GOOD FENCES

Here is my fence find for this week.

I spotted this section of fence and gate while out on a walk.  - There seems to be something missing, can you figure out what?

Need a hint?.....

I wonder what happened to that missing piece of fence on the gate.

So that's my find for this week.  -  Please stop by The Run-a-Round Ranch Report to check out the other Good Fences.

Have a great day.

Good Fences #138 - Rustic Beauty

What a week it's been here in the US - I'm sure the world is watching us all now and seeing just how we are going to handle this election.  Again I
urge everyone regardless of how you voted to be kind to each other, show respect & stand behind our leaders in prayer.

So now let's move on to something not political in nature.  -  It's time for,
GOOD FENCES - Hosted by Theresa from The Run-a-round Ranch Report.

My fence today is nothing super spectacular.  It's just a plain wooden fence but I think it's beautiful if you stop to look at the details.

I love the various heights of the boards on this fence.  -  It looks faded on the one side but I'm thinking that is just due to the way the sun was shining on it and the angle that I shot the photo. - It's still a very weathered fence.

I like the gate in the middle of the two sections of the fence. and the moss growing on the fence as well.

My favorite feature is the latch that is on the fence.  I think it's really cool looking and give it a very rustic feel.

Sometimes aged things just have a beauty all there own.  Imperfections can be beautiful.

Don't forget to stop by and check out all the other great fences.  Have a wonderful day.

It's Over - It's Time to Move On

Hello & Welcome.

Yesterday was a historic day for sure.  Many people are at a loss for words as to the outcome of the election in the US - Many are angry with the results, many are elated, some threaten to leave the US (okay if that's how you feel then go), many want to uprise against the newly elected leader etc...I say this:

My thoughts:  United We Stand - Divided We Fall -  The choice is up to you.

My faith says this:

Regardless of whether or not I believe in the person elected as our next president my God says I'm subject to their authority.

I am also to pray for our country and our leaders.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. - 1 Timothy 2:1-15

Please be respectful of our leaders and each other.

Good Fences #137 & Little Things Thursday

Welcome!

This week has been a bit tough....had to take my mom back to the ER again on Halloween night. - Her regular doctor couldn't see her and said to take her to the ER - Which she hates doing (and so do I) as it takes "forever" to be seen and released. - Seems the Infection she had in her leg earlier last month was back again.  So now we are back on Antibiotics again & we're still dealing with the Edema issues as well.

So now that you know what's been happening here let's get started on some fun stuff.

Up first GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa from The Run-a-round Ranch Report.

Some of these photos are from my Archives but have never been shared before.

Up first from way back in 2008:

This big pumpkin was spotted growing up on top of a fence while we were out walking one day.

Spotted this squash growing through a fence in 2015 while out on a walk.

These pumpkin vines Coleen and I walked by every day last fall on her way to school.

Here are a couple of the pumpkins.  You'll notice just a trace of the chain link fence in the lower right hand corner near my watermark.

Saw this round squash growing on a fence in a nearby alley.

Another view of the same fence & squash.  You can see some of the Morning Glory that was also growing on the fence.

So there you have my Good Fences for this week.

Up Next:

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY hosted by Tamar from Random-osity.

Yesterday was a glorious day here weather wise.  I believe we made it up to 79!  Last night I happened to look across the street and saw the sun shining on our neighbors Maple tree and just had to go take a picture of it to share today.

Oh yeah that is beautiful!  (Also note there is a fence in the shot too)

Look at that color.  It's the "little things" like this that help when you've had a rough day.  Thankful for God's great beauty in nature.

Don't forget to stop by both blogs to check out the other participants.

Have a great day.

Tea Cup & Mug Exchange Reveal

Today is the day we reveal our partners from the Tea Cup & Mug Exchange hosted by,
Stephanie (The Enchanting Rose) blog.

This is always such a fun event to participate in.  You are assigned a partner to send either a Tea Cup or a Coffee Mug to along with some goodies and another person is assigned to send to you so you get to become acquainted with 2 new people.  Some have blogs and some do not.

This exhange my partner that I sent to was Cheryl who blogs HERE:
I had a lot of fun picking out the items to send to her.  She'll be revealing that on her blog so you can see what she received.

The partner who had my name was  Sharon (aka Snap) who blogs at,
Tales from Twisty Lane.

Here are the wonderful goodies that I received from Sharon,

I received some wonderful Earl Grey tea (a favorite of mine) along with Blueberry Tea, which I might add my granddaughter just loves and claimed it for her own since Grandma isn't much of a blue berry fan.

Along with the Tea there was some yummy muffin mix, a pretty Tray, Coffee Mug, Coaster, Note Pad & Note cards.

Notice how everything matches and is color coordinated.  Blue is my favorite color and this is such a pretty and dainty mug.  Just right for when you don't want to drink a huge cup of coffee or tea.

The notes cards are so sweet and I love that lined Notebook.  I'm always keeping note pads or something nearby my desk to jot down things so that will come in very handy.

Thank you so much Sharon for your wonderful gift & friendship.  I enjoy stopping by your blog.

Thanks also Stephanie for hosting this super fun event.  Can't wait to join in on the next one!

Good Fences #136 - Autumn Leaves and Fences & Little Things Thursday

Welcome!  - Joining in today for Good Fences & Little Things Thursday.

In order to do both memes I've combined the post so please scroll down for Little Things Thursday.

It's time for some GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa from,
The Run-a-Round Ranch Report.

Yesterday for Seasons  I featured Autumn Leaves and Berries so in keeping with the Autumn theme I am sharing Autumn Leaves and Fences today.  Yes each photo will have a fence in it somewhere.

Last week the Ginko tree up the street was still pretty and green.  I love how the sun is shining on the leaves and they are cascading over the fence.

This week the leaves have turned a golden yellow and by next week most of the tree will be bare of any leaves.

Golden leaves of a neighborhood birch tree glisten in the sunlight as they cascade over a fence.  - Actually 2 fences are in this shot.

A rainbow of colors from Virginia Creeper creeping ovr a fence in the neighborhood.

Down a nearby alley some grape leaves cascade over a fence in glorious fall colors.

Spotted this colorful fall scene on a recent walk.  That grass has a checkerboard apperance.  Can you find 2 fences & a gate in this shot.

So there you have it - Autumn Leaves & Fences. - Don't forget to check out the other great fences by stopping in at Theresa's Blog.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let's join Tamar (Random-osity) for:

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY

Earlier this week I was taking a walk and spotted a cat on someone's porch.  I love taking pictures of cats (not just our own) so I snapped a photo of the cat.  I only got a chance for one photo because it decided the food bowl was more interesting then looking at me.

However....when I got home and downloaded the photo's I had a little surprise.  See if you can figure out what it was.

Cropping a little closer...I bet you can figure it out now.

Okay just in case....

How fun to discover this cat had 2 different colored eyes. - It's the "little things" like this that make me happy.

Don't forget to visit Tamar's blog & check out the other participants.

Have a great day.
