Welcome! - It's been a quieter (still busy) week here but things aren't as stressful.

Spotted this last fall and am finally getting around to sharing.
This Gate and lights with cornstalks decorated a vacant lot here in town.
Apparently someone in the back part of the lot used this as an entrance to their property.
The lot has been vacant for many years. An elderly woman was murdered in the house that used to be there. The house was eventually torn down but nothing has ever been put back up so the lot sits empty.
I do think the gate, lights and corn stalks made for a pretty fall entryway to whatever was going on in the back part of the lot.
It would be nice someday if another home was built on the lot.
That's it for this week. It's been rainy & dreary here most of the week and doesn't look to promising for the weekend either. Oh well, I'll have time to catch up on your blogs then.
Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.
That makes a nice entrance. Sad story about the property though.
ReplyDeleteDecorating the lamp posts by the gate does make for a lovely fall/harvest display.
ReplyDeletehope you enjoy your weekend whatever the weather
I like the simple fall feel of the stalks!
ReplyDeleteThose cornstalks on the gates are the perfect sign of fall!
ReplyDeletea pretty fall decoration with a sad true-life halloween story to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI love the gates and the decorations. I would not want to live in a house that had someone had been murdered in because I would be afraid the murderer might come back. I dunno in Florida the law says you have to tell someone if anything like that happened to a house.
ReplyDeleteIt might be haunted...Halloween is on my mind.
ReplyDelete~
Interesting that someone decorates the gate and posts and yet nobody lives there. Hmmmmm.

That is a nice entrance but a very sad reason that it is an empty lot now. Hope you are doing better. Hug B
ReplyDeleteThe cornstalks add a cheery note to the empty lot. I'm glad the folks in the back lot care enought to add to the empty lot. Happy autumn!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteHello, Ida! I've just caught up on visiting every post and, just like always I'm enchanted by your photos. Fall is such a beautiful season and the way you've captured it makes me want to get right out there and go exploring. I'll be going out shortly, but it's pretty wet here lately. Going to get wetter still when we take the dogs for a short therapy swim. Thanks for such a beautiful look at your neck of the woods and at what catches your eye. I always enjoy it so much!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Autumn decor on the lamp posts!!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of cornstalks at entrances! I put up my cornstalks on my garden gate entrance, and surprisingly they are still there, although the chickens have certainly had fun picking away at them, lol! Happy to visit with you today! Glad that your week has been less stressful... we are getting the rain here too!
ReplyDeleteHello, the gate and decorations are pretty. Have a happy day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I love your banner! It's great to see all the fall decorations now. Have a great weekend Ida.
ReplyDeletethose cornstalks are really decorative. Love the orange color of them :)
ReplyDeleteHello Ida. That definitely is an eyecatching gate decoration! I imagine it would be quite effective at night if the lights are working. Maybe even a bit spooky, given the history of the place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice way to decorate your gate for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice entryway for fall!
ReplyDeleteI love cornstalks and think they always make such a great decor. For some reason, whenever I try using them they just look awkward. Wish I had a but more if a knack for decorating.
ReplyDeleteHello,again,Ida.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely fence and I like the stones leading to the fence in the light. Those red leaves are beautifully shinning and the bubbles in your header. Have a good day.
I noticed that my link on Good Fence.sad.
The cornstalks look very pretty beside the beautiful gate. How sad about the elderly lady.....Hope things settle down for you soon. Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteDearest Ida; I DO agree with you that with all " gate, lights and corn stalks" your photographs have a pretty fall atmosphere. And we can see the gate clearly on the second closer picture(♡^.^♡)
ReplyDeleteI hope you will have a comfortable and sunny fall weather soon♪
Thank you SO much for your visits and sweet comments. I REALLY appreciate it.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Very nice idea! Great autumn theme.
ReplyDeleteLovely and creative photo shot of the autumn fence decorations!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great weekend ~ ^_^
Ohh, sounds like the setting for a spooky tale. And the added element of a real life horror having happened as well. I bet it looks very cool (and slightly spooky) at night with those tall corn stalks with the lights glowing through them. A nice idea over all.
ReplyDeleteLove the new header banner!
Just right for the season ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hello Ida!:) I'm catching up too! You're right this is a nice looking wrought iron gate, and I also like the lamps. It's eye catching with the corn stalks. Sad story though about the old lady, who's gate this used to belong to. Have a good week.:)
ReplyDeletei enjoy your headers hot. so fallish. around here so many of the big fancy rich homes really go all out to decorate for the fall season. corn cobs, pumpkins, all of that kind of goodies. i have a few items indoors. i have a mum & a metal pumpkin on a stick that i put out for my enjoyment. we have deer that enjoy eating anything. so i keep them extra high up. ( :
ReplyDeleteThat is a very ornate gate, I like the fancy ironwork.
ReplyDeletecornstalks always make anything better!! i love your new header for fall, it's so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of decorating for a vacant lot - I haven't even gotten around to doing anything for my home! Nice catch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun gate for fall! It's rainy and dreary here too but 'tis the season in the PNW. :(
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty scene, and like you, I wish someone would build there and start new memories.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family, Ida.
A rainy day here and there sometimes actually helps with getting things done that needs to be done around the house. :)
ReplyDeleteYou find the greatest fences, beautifully decorated for the season.
ReplyDeleteOn closer look, the gate is pretty! Hope a new house will be built soon.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful, autumn in all its glory.
