Tuesday Muse - The Splendor of Autumn

Welcome! -  After a very busy week last week I'm looking forward to a little more relaxing week.  Taking some time out this morning before I head off for bowling to share in Tuesday Muse, brought to you by Nancy from, A Rural Journal.

Autumn has been quite lovely here in Walla Walla this year.  Some really beautiful weather with sunny days in which to get out and snap some shots of the foliage around town.  I love this time of year (except for the part about what follows after the season is over).

Here are some shots of the beauty in my little town.

There is a house down the street from us that has the coolest rock wall fence around their place.  I loved how the bright yellow of this tree contrasted with the rock wall and the shadows of the leaves.

Some subtle shading going on here with the leaves just beginning to turn.

Oak leaves at the clinic.  The colors are fantastic and Coleen and I had fun gathering acorns there to bring home to feed the squirrels.

Bright colored berries (this one's for you Deanna) on a bush.

I just liked the light coming through these trees and the tangled branches.

These two shots are off a bush that I discovered.  I'm not sure what kind of a bush it is but I love the colors of the leaves and those maroon colored seed pod/flowers (?) are awesome.

I love these little Maple trees.  So colorful.

How about an apartment building with some kind of Ivy growing up the side of the building.

A close-up of the Ivy on the bricks.

Finally I just couldn't leave without sharing another picture of Coleen taken at the pumpkin patch.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday and Songography - October 27, 2013

Welcome.  If you read my blog post from Friday you'll know it's been a very busy week here for me.  It didn't stop either as Friday my mom & I spent 4 hours outside planting flower bulbs (Tulips & Daffodils) for spring.  Lots of hard work and sore muscles but we got it done.

Today we spent most of the day out of town taking Coleen to see the Dinosaur Exhibit,  Jurassic Quest, Return of the Dinosaur.  Most of my evenings this week have been taken up watching the PBR Bull Riding Finals which end tomorrow afternoon.  So it's been an exciting, fun, and tiring week.   Still I found time for some photo's and am here to share them with you.

Starting with SONGOGRAPHY  - Brought to you by Kathy from You'll Shoot Your Eye Out.  The song choice this week:  Forever Young by Rod Stewart.  I absolutely LOVE this song.  Never having given birth to any children of my own I cherish the fact that I got to help raise my daughter, Greta and now her little girl, Coleen as well.  They are a very special part of my life and always will be.  I hold in my heart all the special moments with them that I possibly can.  Here is one from this weeks visit to the Pumpkin Patch:

May sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home.

So now let's join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.

This weeks prompts:  Change, Your Mood Today, Dark, Welcome and Depth of Field.

CHANGE:  I love that we get to see the seasons "Change" here in Walla Walla.  I spotted this scene while out for a walk with my mom's dog, Pixie this week.  I didn't have the camera with me on the walk so after I got home I got my camera and drove back to take the photo.

Worth going back to get that picture if you ask me.

YOUR MOOD TODAY:  Well this picture wasn't taken today but I think it suited my mood for most of the week.  Happy and Relaxed (even though I was busy)

Coleen and I spotted this kitty on a porch when we were out taking some Halloween decoration photos.  Kitties always make me happy and this one looked very relaxed.

DARK:

Inside the Dinosaur exhibit it was rather dark and these guys lived in a very dark period of the earths history if you ask me.

WELCOME: (or maybe not....)

DEPTH OF FIELD:

Took this shot when Coleen and I went out to gather some acorns to help feed the squirrels this winter.

Random 5 Friday - Busy, Busy, Busy

Yes it's Friday (Hip, Hip, Hooray!) and so without further ado or fanfare let's join Nancy (A Rural Journal) for some Random 5 Friday facts.

#1- It's been a busy week.  Monday I had doctor's appointment in the morning and then took our van out to be looked at (more on that in fact 2).
In the afternoon as I was chatting next door with my mom we heard a loud cracking sound and my mom said, "Oh no an apple tree limb just fell."  We rush outside and sure enough the next door neighbors apple tree had a huge limb break and it fell on my mom's roof.

Thankfully no lines were torn down, no holes in the roof, no broken windows.  Just scared the living day lights out of us.  They came over and cleaned everything up and we all had a nice visit while they worked at cleaning the mess up.

#2 - There are honest people in the world.  We have been having problems with our Van doors not always wanting to close when you use the automatic closing button on the key pad.  Sometimes they open back up and you actually have to force them shut.  The Service Repair man told me Monday that unless it was acting up "while I had the van there" (which it wasn't) they couldn't possibly figure out why it wasn't working and we'd basically be wasting close to $100 for them to tell us that if we had them look at it and it didn't malfunction at the time.  -  Guess we'll just live with the problem as it doesn't happen all the time and why waste extra money we don't have.

#3 - Monday we also took Coleen to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins and get her annual Pumpkin Patch photo's taken.  It's so hard these days to get a good picture of her where she's not squinting or making a weird face.  I did capture this one though that I really like.

#4 - Bowling was decent this week!  (153-139-153) - I felt a lot better about that and enjoyed going out to lunch with the other ladies of the league as well.  Had my very first ever Fish Taco and I loved it!

#5 -   The remainder of the week was just as busy.  I had a Dental Appt. on Wednesday.  Oh goodie,  I get to have a Crown put in three weeks from now.  Thank goodness for Insurance as those things are expensive (even with Insurance).  -
Got to go to Coffee with a Friend yesterday, we've been trying for 3 weeks now.
Also been watching the PBR Bull Riding Finals which started Wednesday night.
Need to finish weeding my flower beds and plant my bulbs today.  Busy times, but good ones.

That's it for this week.  Whew!!!

Songography-The Best Day of My Life edition and Scavenger Hunt Sunday, October 20, 2013

Ah we've come to the end of yet another crazy, hectic week (at least for me) and now it's time to unwind with a little fun courtesy of Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) and Ashley (Ramblings & Photos).

Let's start the fun with SONGOGRAPHY where this weeks featured song is,  Best Day of My Life - American Authors.  (Such a cute video featuring a fun day in a dogs life).  Much of my week was taken up with Dental Appt., Errands, Kid activities and working in the yard.  A busy week and not really what I'd consider the Best Day of My Life.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the week but something that I really enjoyed was this....

Taken 9-21-13 in Lincoln City, OR (USA) - Coleen and I enjoyed some time playing in the waves on the beach prior to my niece's wedding.  Any day at the beach is a (Best Day of My Life) type day for me and it was made even better by sharing it with my granddaughter,  Coleen. One of the best things about my life is spending time with her.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now let's join in on SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY -  This weeks prompts were:
Watching, Leafy, First World Problem, Still and A Good Day.

A few of these were challenging.  Especially the First World Problem one.  I had no clue what that was all about so I hope that I got it right.

WATCHING:  Coleen and I took a little drive around town looking (or watching) for Halloween décor.

Every step you take, every move you make,  I'll be "watching" you (courtesy of the Police song).

LEAFY:

Another shot from the Scenic Loop drive.  I love how this "leafy" bush frames the mountains in the background.

FIRST WORLD PROBLEM:  I didn't know if this was supposed to be a problem within the US, or just what.  I'm guessing that's what it was meant to be and am using a photo from this past August's parade where this cause was supported.

I think Racism and Women's Rights are certainly "problems" that need to be dealt with.

STILL:

This is one of our cats, Dottie, sitting very still as she watches one of the other cats to see if it was going to pounce on her.

A GOOD DAY:

Friday was a "Good Day" for Coleen as it was Spirit Day and Crazy Hair Day at her school.  Her mom fixed her hair for her and sprayed the blue/white color into it and tied blue/white ribbons in her hair.  She had fun with her crazy hair and enjoyed a good day at school.

So that's it for this week.  -  Thank you all for stopping by.

Random Thoughts With an Orange Twist

Yippee it's Friday!  -  What a week it's been. I feel like I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  So many things going on and just not enough time to get them done.  But enough of that.

Let's get started by joining in on the fun of Random 5 Friday hosted by Nancy at A Rural Journal.  I'll also be participating with Maria from Life's Sweet and Spices for Orange You Glad It's Friday.  Hence all photos today will have orange in them.

Random Thought # 1:  I want a "clone of myself"...That way I could be two places at once and get twice as much done!

(Coleen and Pixie enjoying colorful Fall Foliage)

Random Thought # 2:  Weeding is hard work!  I started clearing out the flower beds this week in hopes of getting them ready to plant all the new bulbs that I bought.  Still not finished because to many other things keep coming up.

(Straw flowers blooming at the Yogurt Shop)

Random Thought #3:  Bowling is an aggravating game.  This week I totally "stunk" and had the lowest game and series that I've had in quite some time.  I'm not sure what's going on but I am about ready to throw my ball in the garbage can.  Perhaps I should spray paint it orange and use if for a Halloween decoration.  -  We took a little tour around town the other day and spotted some fun decorations.  Here is a shot of some of them.

Random Thought #4:  Fall is my favorite season - Okay so this isn't so much a random thought as it is a Random Fact but when you get to see stuff like these leaves can you blame me for loving this time of year.

(My Entry for Orange You Glad It's Friday)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Random Thought #5: We took in the Corn Maze this year.  After 2 years of Coleen being to sick to go and the weather being nasty we finally made it back.  Only took us about an hour to get through the maze.  (Sorry for the quality of the photo but I had my other camera with me and it was dark out so this is the best I could do.)

That's it for me.  Thank you for stopping by.  -  I also want to thank all my new followers and of course all my followers.  You make my day brighter when you stop by.

Tuesday Muse - October 15, 2013

Hello,  Last week I had a post already for Nancy's Tuesday Muse and wouldn't you know it the darn computer was acting up and I couldn't get the post up before I had to leave for bowling.  -  So let's try it this week and see what happens.

Sharing a few more shots from the Drive that Coleen, Me and my Mom went on last Thursday. - Click to Enlarge

The farmers were burning their fields and we stopped to take a few photos.  If you look closely you can see some of the flames from the fire.

From up on top of Scenic Loop looking down at some of the farm houses below.

Some Elderberries we saw growing along side the road.

A view of the mountains.

Some cows we saw along the way.  Coleen wanted to roll down the window and "Moo" at them.  The look on the one cows face says it all!

Off to bowling now.  Hope I do better this week then I did last week.
