Macro Monday with Sarah Carletti

Joining the talented Sarah for Macro Monday

I'll be sharing 2 photos today. - CLICK TO ENLARGE PHOTOS

First up those Tiny Mini Daffodils that were featured HERE on Sunday.

I just think these are the cutest little daffodils I've ever seen.

Next up it's a Macro/Close-up of Spooky-boo's claw.  I was trying to get a macro shot of his paw and caught this funny expression on his face as well.  I hope it brightens up your day.

Today is the last post for SUNLIT SUNDAY for this year so I thought I would join in and spread some sunshine.  We've had a lot of (rain) this week but the sun was actually a couple of days and boy did I take advantage of those moments to enjoy it.

Another shot of those gorgeous Pussy willow blooms.  (There is another photo of these in my Songography post)

Caught this little guy catching some sun rays after a rain shower the other day.

This little Female Mallard Duck was out with her mate enjoying some sun, water & bird seed yesterday after it stopped raining and the sun came out.

We spotted this little kitty enjoying some sunshine on our way to the library and I just had to stop and take her picture.  The kids playing in the yard told us her name was, Callie.  Doesn't she look sweet.

We also made a stop to take some photo's of the "egg tree".  A woman in town hangs up colored eggs on her tree every spring and they looked so cheery I just had to take some pictures of them.

I hope you've enjoyed this little bit of Sunshine and whether or not the sun is actually shining where you live today let's hope you have happy, sunny thoughts to cheer you up and give you hope that Spring is on it's way.

Songography - Turn, Turn, Turn

Welcome!

This week Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) has chosen the song,  Turn, Turn, Turn - Byrds as this weeks SONGOGRAPHY song.  I loved this song.  It's scripturally based on  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 in the Bible.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

We've just entered a new season here with the arrival of spring.  Let's celebrate!

I captured these Pussywillow blooms during the "Golden Hour" one evening this past week.  I love the play of the sunlight on their fuzzy blossoms.

The neighbors around the corner have these two beautiful trees planted right next to each other.  Loving the double blooms on the pink tree.

Some of the new mini daffodils we planted last fall.  These are in Coleen's little flower bed at my mom's house.

Some daffodils in my mom's yard. They start out with the yellow tone and change to the peach tone as they age.  So pretty.

A Tulip Tree just a few houses away from our house.  They are stunning but oh so messy when the blooms die and fall off the tree.

Hope you enjoyed this little breath of spring air.  What a season to enjoy.
Please stop by and join in on the fun of Songography.

Random 5 Friday

HAPPY FRIDAY!

It's been a very BUSY but a good week here for me.  I've been absent from blogging for most of the week due to having something to do every single day this week.  It's time now to kick back and join in on the fun of Random 5 Friday hosted by the wonderful Nancy from (A Rural Journal).

1.  Monday I made my annual (celebrate my birthday) trip to the Wildhorse  Casino along with my mom and Greta.  Within the first 20 minutes we were there I was down $60 and then I won a small jackpot that I cashed in so that I wouldn't go home a loser like I normally do.  - I then started playing another quarter machine and guess what.....

This is only part of what I won,  I came home with all the money I had taken with me and about a $200 profit as well.  My first time ever winning anything!!!

2.  Tuesday was our Play Day for the Bowling League.  Our team ended up taking 2nd place for the season.  I won some money for that and also for having the High Individual Game with Handicap for the entire season.  I tied with another lady so they split the money.  We each got $5 which I decided to buy Scratch Tickets with and I won $50!

3.  Wednesday...sorry I didn't win any more money.  This was take Mom for her B-12 Shot & then head to the dentist to have my mouth checked again.  The spot has pretty much healed but the dentist said it's still not 100% normal.  It may never be but as long as I don't have that horrible sore I don't care.

4.  Oh I also baked a cake on Wednesday.  I tried out this recipe recommended by the delightful Stephanie from (The Enchanting Rose) blog. -  I must say that while I don't like bananas (mushy texture just gags me) this cake was pretty YUMMY!  -  I added some chopped pecans to the frosting and everyone enjoyed this cake very much.

5.  Last night we attended  the Celebration of the Arts & Silent Auction event at Coleen's school.  She was singing with her class, had some artwork displayed and her Science Club Heart project was on display.

I'm including a YouTube Video of one of the songs they preformed last night called,  The Cat Came Back.  (Sorry about the jittery part at the beginning.  It was really crowded in the Cafeteria and people kept bumping into me.)

That's it for this week.  I think I would like to kick back now and relax like this...

Songography

Welcome! -  It's time to join Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for,
This weeks song,  One is the Loneliest Number - (Three Dog Night)
I'm being brief this week as it's late, I'm tired and I really don't have much to say.  So without further ado here is my interpretation of the song.

Two can be as bad as one, it's the loneliest number since the number one.
(Especially if it's you and your shadow).

Random 5 Friday

Happy Friday! - Did you all have a Happy 1st Day of Spring!

So now it's time to join in the fun of RANDOM 5 FRIDAY hosted by Nancy from A Rural Journal.

Please click to enlarge photos.

1.  Hooray for Spring!!! -  Spent some time walking around the neighborhood looking for flowering trees.  It was such a joy seeing them in bloom again.

2.  For those who watched the opening season of Dancing With The Stars, (DWTS) what did you think?  Did you like the new co-host, did you like the new band. who were your favorite dancers?  My answers,  I liked Erin Andrews, the new co-host,  I did NOT like the new band or the music (to modern and noisy sounding for my taste)  My favorite dancing team,  Max and Meryl the Ice Dancer from the Olympics.  -  I also think Billy Dee Williams is out of there 1st.

(From a Garden up the street)

3.  I had a great birthday and thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes.  Got to go out for dinner; I chose to eat at Applebee's and had the Trio sampler with Steak Quessadias  towers and 2 orders of Won-Ton Chicken Tacos, Yum!

4.  These two are getting along a lot better now.  Oh they are still tussling with each other every morning but I'm not worried now that Cuddles will hurt Spooky.  Here he's holding him down giving him a bath. The poor thing was sopping wet after Cuddles got through washing his head.

(Coleen and Pixie on our afternoon walk)

5.  I seriously need to lose some weight.  Problem is I take Thyroid Medication and it is extremely hard to lose weight while taking thyroid meds,  no matter what your thyroid doctor says.  If you research it you will find many people have the same problem but their doctors will tell them it's not the medication. -  Anyway I'm going to try again to start walking more and cutting back on the sweets.  We'll see what happens.

Quote of the Week:

Happy 1st Day of Spring

Happy 1st Day of Spring to everyone and Happy Birthday to Me!  - I know shameless plug for my birthday but I love celebrating.  Hope you all have a wonderful day.  The sun is out here & signs of spring are showing up everywhere.  I think I'll be out & about today to enjoy them.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - A little late for the party...

If you have stopped by for SONGOGRAPHY or SUNLIT SUNDAY click on the link to be taken to that post.

I'm a little late getting my post up for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY but better late then never!

Here are the prompts for this week:

Doorway, Candid, Open, Look Up and Stuffed.

So without further ado let's get started:

DOORWAY - This is an (archived) photo from January because I didn't find any interesting doorway shots this past week.  I was playing around one day and came up with this shot.

It's the doorknob on my mom's back porch door.  You can see it's also a "selfie."

CANDID:  Grandpa taught Coleen how to ride a "Big Girl" bike this past weekend.  She had a blast riding the bigger bike.

OPEN:  Caught Captain Cuddles in the middle of a Yawn.  I think it's safe to say his mouth was wide open.

LOOK UP:  Last weekend we went to the Cowboy breakfast sponsored by the local Community College Rodeo and afterwards Coleen wanted to go look at the horses in the barns.  I captured this shot of her looking up at the horse she was petting.

STUFFED:  I thought about taking a picture of Coleen's many stuffed animals and then I remember this....

It's painted on a building a few blocks away from where we live.  There is also a giant cup of tea next to this.  I'd venture to say if you ate a Croissant that large you really would be stuffed!

Thanks for stopping by & do check out Ashley's blog (Ramblings and Photos) for the other participants in the hunt.

Songography and Sunlit Sunday

Hello & Welcome.  Today I'll be joining Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for Songography and Karen (My Little Home and Garden) for Sunlit Sunday.

This week's song,  It's Not Easy Being Green
(Kermit the Frog.)

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.

(Although these leaves on this tree really stand out.  They are the brightest yellow-green I have ever seen.  You can't miss this tree when it leafs out.)

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.

Be sure to check out both of these wonderful Meme's.  Have a great day and a......
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY (on Monday) of course!

Random 5 Friday

Happy Friday!  It's time for some "Randomness" so join me and the host of RANDOM 5 FRIDAY, the wonderful Nancy from (A Rural Journal) for some random thoughts.

1.  Signs of spring are on the way!!! - I got to spend some time outside this week and even managed to clear some of the leaves and weeds out of my flower beds.  Look what I saw yesterday.

2.  Why is it when you have a day off from school like Coleen does today that it rains?  Yes, yesterday it was beautiful outside (64 degrees) and today it's raining. I always hated that when I was a kid.  The week before spring break it would be gorgeous and then you would have your break and it would rain the entire week and clear off the day you had to head back to school.

3.  So now that the "Bachelor" show is over and might I add ("good riddance" to Juan Pablo and his, "I like you a lot" winner) it's time to move on to Dancing With The Stars.  Promises to be an interesting season with all the new changes.  - Yes I love so called (reality) TV shows but only certain ones.

4.  Had a fun lunch out on Monday with a bunch of ladies from our church who all have birthday in the month of March.  We ate at a Chinese Buffet place and just had a fun time getting to know each other better.

5. We got a new neighbor in the house next door to us (not my mom's place).  The house has been vacant since last October.  The last neighbors weren't bad but they did get into shouting matches with lots of 4-letter words and the cops were there a lot because their son was always in trouble with the law (drugs, domestic violence) so it's a relief to have a nice, quiet, middle-aged, single woman living there now.

So now I leave you with my "Quote of the Week" photo.

Off to get more coffee so I can browse your blogs, first though I have to go separate fighting cats (Spooky-boo and Cuddles) and then feed the birds and squirrels.  I hate going out in the rain.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - March 9, 2014

Welcome!   -  If you are here for SONGOGRAPHY click on the link and you will be taken directly to my post.

I decided to participate in Scavenger Hunt Sunday today as well.
The prompts this week:  Mini, Shoes, Mirror, Mirror,  Shopping & Just Because.

MINI:  I saw this "mini" flower (actually a weed) in my mom's yard today.
It's really much smaller then the picture shows.

SHOES:  I'm not one of those women who owns a ton of shoes.  I have my fair share but mainly live either in my Tennis Shoes, Flip-Flops or Slippers.

I do however have my very first baby shoes.  Preserved for all time in Bronze.  This was often done in the 50's.  If you look closely you'll see a worn spot in the shoe on the left which was actually worn on my right foot.  Apparently I tucked that food under my butt and scooted along the floor.  I had to wear special high-top shoes because of that and I didn't learn to walk until after I was over a year old.

MIRROR, MIRROR:

I love how the water "mirrors" these water-bugs (we call them, water skippers).

SHOPPING:  Nothing to original here.  Just the store sign from the grocery store we shop at.  At night the wheat is lit up but they hadn't turned on the sign yet when I stopped by to take the picture.

JUST BECAUSE:  Coleen and I went to the annual Cowboy breakfast sponsored by the local Community College Rodeo team this morning.  After breakfast was over we were killing a little time until the kid's rodeo event started and Coleen wanted to run around on the grass.  I asked her why and her response was,  "Just Because"....I think that's fitting and here she is.
