Caturday Art - July 17, 2021

It's another warm summer day here in "Wally World"  -
(aka Walla Walla).  Spending time working on cards and emails today.
Last week I prepared a photo for Caturday Art and didn't get around to posting so I'll do it today.

Original (SOOC) Straight out of Camera shot first:  This is Speedy G (although he doesn't look very speedy in this shot.)

Now for my Art piece....

Several different effects from BeFunky were used to create this.  I rather like it.

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 9, 2021

Welcome!  Well summer is moving along quickly.  We broke some records in our area for heat recently with a temp of 116.  So far I'm surviving the heat mainly because I stay inside where it's cool.

Anyway time to join Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:
1.  Summer Clouds

2. Purple Bells. - One of the new perennials I bought this year.

3. Munch mouth.  The heat hasn't stopped them from coming to the feeders everyday.

4.  Rock Camp - Coleen participated in the (Rock Camp) last month.  They were unable to hold it last year.  The first year she participated she played drums.  This year she played a Bass Guitar and sang.

5.  Baby Fix

 6. Cat Nap - Caramel & Bandit usually don't sleep together so this was a rare sight.

 7.  My heart bleeds for you (or me).  - Caramel got scared when I tried to pick her up and she cut my hand.  I used a paper towel to wipe the blood and when I looked at the towel I saw this:

That's it for this edition. - Hope you are enjoying your summer. - I ended up getting (Shingles) last week. - I'm doing very well though and healing quickly.  No photo of that though as it's not a pretty sight.

Book Review - Child of Light by Terry Brooks

Child of Light by [Terry Brooks]

Today I am reviewing the newest fantasy novel by author, Terry Brooks.  I received an advanced copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review of this book.
Mr. Brooks is my all time favorite Science fiction/fantasy writer so I was extremely thrilled to be able to read this.
I was not disappointed.  Right from the very beginning of the book the reader is drawn into the story of Auris, (the title character) and her escape from a prison owned by humans and run using Goblins as the guards.  Escape is nearly impossible but Auris along with a group of her friends manages the escape but then things go horribly wrong and she is left alone in the outside world until she meets up with Harrow.  It turns out that Harrow is a Fae (or fairy creature) and after he rescues Auris he takes her back to his world to recover.
It turns out that there is a mystery involving Auris and why she was imprisoned to start off with and why she can't remember any of her past before she was imprisoned.
Together with the help of Harrow and other creatures of the fairy world they set out to solve this mystery.
The book is fast paced but super descriptive and you will find yourself drawn into the magic of the fairy world and the drama when Auris returns to the human world to find out the mystery of her past life.  The characters were interesting and I found myself wanting to see how the story would end.  The ending was very satisfactory and left you anxious and excited for the sequel.
You can pre-order this book on Amazon on this link
If you like fantasy novels I highly recommend reading this one.

Willy Nilly Friday 5 - May 28, 2021

 Happy Friday!
It's been awhile since I've posted for WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE
so today I'm going to join in.  Although Tom doesn't run the blog hop anymore you can still post photos for it.
1.  May Day flowers - This is just one of the two May Day baskets that I was lucky enough to receive.  This one my sweet hubby gave me.

I've always thought it was fun to see birds sitting on wires.  -  Check out the video below of what one man did with birds sitting on wires.

3.Just a stray kitty that shows up occasionally to eat the cat food we leave out.  This one is very skittish so I took this shot through the window as it was leaving the front porch.

4. Dragon Lily -
Dracunculus vulgaris
My granddaughters boyfriend told me about this plant that grows near where he lives and I waited patiently until it bloomed.  He described what the flowers would look like and I google (stinky purple flowers) and eventually found out what this plant is.  It's Dracunculus Vulgaris - It apparently smells bad and attracts flies, it's also toxic so in handling it you should wear gloves.  I think it's pretty cool looking though.
5. Goosey Lucy - Spotted peaking out front a fence on.

6.  Bonus shot:  Haven't shared much about our newest family member, Darby the dog.  So here is a picture of him and Coleen.

He's going to start some training next Friday and hopefully he will learn some manners.  He's the sweetest dog but needs help learning what is good behavior and what is bad behavior.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Awww Mondays - Little Biker Girl

Joining in today for Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee over on Comedy Plus.

My last two posts have been very sad posts so today I'm sharing something a lot more cheerful.

Took "Red" outside the other day to see her grandpa and he was on his Harley with the engine running so we sat her down on it too see how she would do and she just sat there like a little trouper.  Didn't fuss or cry even though the engine was running and making a lot of noise.  This were her first time on the Harley but probably not her last time.
And just one more for cuteness as I caught her asleep on the floor the other morning and couldn't resist taking her photo.

Have a great Monday and a fantastic week.
