Felines & Willy-Nilly Friday Five

Welcome! - I've been pretty the past couple of weeks so I haven't had much time for blogging.  Today I'm taking time to participate in,

FELINE FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  Part of the business of the past 2 weeks.  Back to Back Birthday Celebrations.  - My mom turned 89 on the 18th and Coleen turned 13 on the 19th (Yes we have a teenager in the house now!)

2.  Spotted this Dried Artichoke Bloom growing up through a stump one afternoon.  - I thought it looked pretty cool.

3.  Spotted this display at a local grocery store.

4.  The sun was shining on the neighbors trees the other night (we've had a lot of rain so the sun was a welcome sight) and I really liked the colors of the trees.

5.  Goofing around with our cat, Dottie this morning.

                                           It's,  "Dottie Trump!"

Please no "haters" as this was just meant to be funny.

Have a great day.

Willy Nilly Friday Five and Friendly Fill-Ins

Welcome!

It's time for some Friday Fun.  Joining Friendly Fill-Ins & Willy-Nilly Friday Five today.  Scroll down for WNFF.

Let's start out with FRIENDLY FILL-INS hosted by Annie on McGuffy's Reader.

Here are the questions:

1. I would like to ask                   why                         ?

2. My favorite fast food restaurant is                          .

3. If I could go to any concert of someone still performing, it would be                        .

4. My Winter pastime is usually                           , because                        .

My answers:
1.  I would like to ask people in general why they feel the need to post such negative stuff on Social Media all the time.  I don't know about you but I'm so tired of reading their complaints that I could scream.

2. My favorite fast food restaurant is McDonalds, Mainly because I like their Salads & Fries.

3. If I could go to any concert of someone still performing, it would be Neil Diamond.

4.  My Winter pastime is usually Reading, because I don't have to go outside to do it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Our cats got a new Christmas Present with this awesome cat tree.  Here you can see 3 of them checking it all out.  We've moved it into the living room now that the Christmas tree is down.  Here it was in the corner of the dining room.

2.  Spotted the snow on the telphone line in December and thought it looked pretty cool.  - I went outside later and the same snow plopped on the ground right before I walked under the wire.  Whew...it missed me.

3.  Just a squirrel on the fence enjoying the peanuts I leave out for them.

4.  Another "forgotten" photo that I meant to share but never did.

Faded and peeling paint on a fence.

5.  An "Abstract" black and white shot I took last year.

It's a bench and shadows.

That's it for me this week. - Hope you've enjoyed your visit.

Wild Bird Wednesday - The Eagle has landed.

Joining in with Stewart (Paying Ready Attention) today for WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

On the morning of December 15, 2017 a little before 9:00 am I got a call from my niece, Shelby that there was a Bald Eagle sitting on a telephone pole right by her house. - She often calls me when birds like the Pelicans I've posted about before show up in her neck of the woods.  I like that about her!

Anyway I hopped right in the car, still in my PJ'S and uncombed hair and drove up to her place hoping that the Eagle would still be there.  It's a good 5-10 minute drive from my house to hers.

When I arrived it was still sitting on top of the pole.  I took several shots of it.  The day was very dreary and overcast so the quality isn't the greatest but I'm still thrilled with what I did capture.

This was the best shot without to much of the power lines in the way.  This bird sat there like this for the longest time.

While waiting around for it to move a bit I snapped a quick picture of the geese in the creek bed.

Suddenly I noticed that the Eagle was getting ready to take off from the pole and I manged this shot right as it lifted off.

Quickly trying to aim and focus I captured this "in-flight" shot which has been cropped to show off the bird better.

I'm happy with these photos and so glad that she called to tell me about the Eagle being there.  - I hope you enjoy them as well.

Have a great day.

Sparks - January 8, 2018

Welcome! - Well the Christmas decorations are down  & put away for another year.  Life is slowly returning to normal (if there is such a thing).

So it's time to join in for this week's SPARKS hosted by Annie (McGuffy's Reader).

We all need some positive encouragement in our lives and this is a great way to do it.

Trying hard to stay "positive" this year.

In fact I think that may just be me "Word" for this year.

Have a wonderful week.

Sparks & a New Year Welcome

Welcome! - Well another year has past & a new one has begun.
2017 certainly had it's challenges but it also had blessings.  I'm sure 2018 will be the same way.  Each "New Year" has it's, (Up's and Down's) and it's up to each one of us to deal with them the best we can.

We always close out the old year by eating a bunch of snack foods, watching movies, setting off fireworks and toasting the new year at midnight

This is some of what we ate.

Poor Greta had to work and didn't get home until around 10:00 pm.  She was hungry as you can see by her plate of food and not amused that I was taking pictures!

Another of our "Goofy" New Year's photo's.  Front Row: L-R,  Greta, Ida (that's me).  Back Row: L-R,  Coleen, Mike & my mom, (Marian).

One of our cats,  Harley watching us outside as we got ready to set off the fireworks.  - That first big bang though scared him and he was out of that window in a flash!

Those things were loud! - Scared Mike, scared me & everyone laughed.

Coleen and Grandpa setting some of the fireworks off.

Finally for SPARKS:

Don't you just love that you get to start "fresh" each year.  - Here's to a great 2018!

Happy New Year 2018!

To all our friends...We wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The gang:  Coleen, Mike, Mom, Greta and Me. - We wish you all a wonderful New Year!
 It's official!

Finally a decent fireworks shot!

More to come in the morning.  It's 1:00 am now & I'm going to bed!
