Friday Randoms and Fill-Ins

Today's Featured Memes: Random 5 Friday, Willy-Nilly Friday Five,
Friendly Fill-Ins, Feline Art Friday.  There will be lots of photos so be sure to scroll to find which meme you are looking for or just take them all in!

FELINE ART FRIDAY

It's been awhile since I've done this meme so today I am joining in with a fun photo of our cat, Callie-Jo and some strawberries that I bought.  I used the Oil Painting Feature on BeFunky for this piece.

RANDOM FIVE FRIDAY:

1. Last Saturday Coleen & I went to the Return to the River Salmon Festival and the annual Ducky Derby held at the local Community College.  Before the Ducky Derby started we spotted this dog playing, Fetch The Stick in Mill Creek

2.  They had Native American Dancers at the Salmon Festival.

3. Coleen and her friend, Ava heading up the path towards the area where the ducks are launched.

4.  The duckies are being dumped into the creek.

5.  The first 2 ducks to enter the tube.  One was the Grand Prize winner, A new Toyota or $10,000 in cash.  Needless to say once again my ducks (I bought 5 for $20) did NOT win. Bummer!

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:

1.

Another of the Native American Dancers.

2.  The ducks are off and racing.

3. Had to buy more strawberries as they are just so yummy!

They are expensive this year at $14.50 for a half flat due to the fact that some of the berry fields were destroyed in last years fire. They are worth the extra cost as they are so much better than the ones you buy in the stores.

4.  The Dogwoods have bloomed and are gone now but there is a variety of them that blooms late.  I think they are so pretty so I'm sharing a photo of them today.  These are in a neighbors yard around the corner from us.

5.  Yesterday we were driving down an alley and spotted this cat.  I stopped and snapped a couple of pictures of it.  We thought it had a really funny face with that "mustache"!

WEEK 3: May 27, 2016

1. Whatever happened to ___________________________?

2. I always ____________________________ on Memorial Day.

3. I used to wish                         , but                       .

4. I just cannot                        , no matter
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Answers:

1.  Whatever happened to good customer service?
There is a story behind this:  The other day I was at the grocery store and laid down 3 dollars in change.  I told the clerk I was writing my check for 2 dollars extra and that I would like a $5 dollar bill.  I handed her the check and then she asked if I wanted to pay for my stuff with the change I'd laid down.  I explained to her (again) that I wanted a $5 bill and that the change was to go with the extra amount that I wrote the check for.  She rings up the check and hands me $2.  I told her,  No I want a $5 bill and that is what the $3 still where I had laid is for.  She FINALLY gets the fact that I wanted a five dollar bill.   Good Grief!!!

2.  I always Take Flowers Out to my dad's, 1 aunt & 2 Grandma's graves
on Memorial Day.

3.  I used to wish I could travel more, but now I've learned to enjoy the places I do get to visit even it they are just around where I live.

4.  I just cannot eat watermelon, no matter how good people tell me it taste.  I've hated it since I was a kid, it actually makes me sick.

HAVE A GREAT MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND for those who celebrate.  It's the start of the summer events here in the US.

Good Fences #114 - Two Doors and a Goat

Hello!

It's time to join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES.

I happened to be walking down an alley one day when I spotted something (you couldn't miss it) and stopped to take a picture to share for good fences.

Here was this bright orange and red door leaning up against the fence.  The last time I was by the alley the door was still there.  I'm not sure if it's meant to be yard decor or just what but it certainly catches your eye.

So a few days later Coleen and I are on another walk when what do we spot....

This Yellow Door leaning against a fence in another yard.  Makes me think perhaps this is a "trend" to use doors as accents in your yards.

Also spotted this at the same location....

Cute little fellow.  You can still see the yellow door in the background of this shot too.

Hope you've enjoyed the doors, fences & goat.  - Don't forget to stop by Theresa's blog and check out all the other Good Fences.

Have a great day!

Seasons & BW Wednesday

Today I'm joining Jesh (St. Germains) & Adrienne (My Memory Art) for their memes:

SEASONS  and BLACK & WHITE WEDNESDAY

Saturday there were 2 festivals going on at once.  One was the Return to the River Salmon Festival.  Featured here are some of the Native American Dancers that performed during the event.

Some pretty grass that I decided to photograph on our walk up to where the ducks (rubber ones) were released for the Ducky Derby.

Izzy The Camel is a popular attraction at the Ducky Derby

A view of a farm across the creek from where the festivals were held.  It was a cloudy day but only a "sprinkling" of rain fell so while it was windy & cold the rain held off to everyone's relief.

A sea of colorful ducks floating down towards the finishing line.

A lone duck that drifted away from the pack.

Hooray because the first Klicker Strawberries of the Season were ready on Saturday so we had our first shortcake of the summer.  Yum!

Just because he's too cute not so share,  Bandit enjoying the sun streaming into the living room.

Friday Randoms & Fill-Ins

Hallelujah it's Friday!

It's time for some "random" fun.

1.  This was the shot I submitted for the 52 Frames project for the prompt,
Blue.  You can check out the entire album here:

This is a sculpture at our local airport. "Illuminated Gateway Arbors" by artist, Koryn Rolstad.   - Check down further for a view of it during the daytime.  - This one was taken just as a huge Thunder and Lightning storm was approaching.  I had time enough to snap a few pictures before deciding that I'd best get back in my car.  I drove home amidst a torrential downpour and a fantastic lighting show.

2.  Just a little "Kitty Love" to make you smile.  This is a sweet moment with Bandit & Pepper.  I had to snap fast before they moved so it's a bit blurred but still cute.

3.  I bought a new shirt the other day.  As you know I bowl (or attempt to) on a League.  Right now we are on a break although we have been bowling just for fun on Tuesday mornings, those of us who wanted to continue bowling.  League won't start back up again until September.
Anyway I found a shirt that I liked to wear on bowling days.

Yes it really is that colorful!

4.  A look at some of the flowers I've been busy planting.  This is my mom's side of our driveway.  I planted our side yesterday.  My knees and back are sore from all that bending over and such but they sure look pretty.

5. Monday starts the new season of the ABC Show, The Bachelorette  Yes, I'm addicted to this show.  I also watch (The Bachelor) as well.  But I think the Bachelorette is my favorite because you get to look at 25 Hunky guys instead of 25 Gorgeous women.

1. Here's the Day time version of the Blue Sculpture at the Airport.

2.  It's (Ant) season and whenever we find huge gatherings of these pesky critters we dust them with ant killer but first we snap their picture!

3.  A Friend of mine sent me some photos created by Artist, Michael Paul Smith.  This is one of them:

Now check out this link because you'll be amazed about what this photo really is:
 http://petapixel.com/2015/02/02/look-michael-paul-smith-creates-historical-photos-incredibly-detailed-models/

4.  Tomorrow is the annual Ducky Derby.  I've featured it here before on my blog.  Last year it was such a (boring) event since they didn't race the ducks down the creek due to low current flow (yeah, right) but instead just dumped them into a field and fished around in the pile to pick out the winners.  I've heard that this year they will race down the creek so I'll be there camera in hand to see if any of my 5 ducks win the race. Photo from the 2014 Race.

5.  We saw an "infomercial" the other night for DVD's of Rowan & Martin's, Laugh-In and decided to purchase them as hubby & I both watched this silly show.

Here's a YouTube Clip for your enjoyment.

Finally I'm joining in on Friendly Fill-Ins. Linking in with McGuffy's Reader.

Good Fences #113 - A Romantic Fence

Welcome! - It's been a busy morning (I just spent 2 1/2 hours outside planting flowers and weeding flower beds) so I'm a bit late for the party but here goes:

Let's look at some GOOD FENCES  hosted by Theresa,
(The Run-a-round Ranch Report).

Be sure to Click to Enlarge Photos

One day while out driving I stopped to take a picture of this fence.  It didn't look like that fancy of a fence but it was still nice and then this lovely American Eskimo ran out to greet me.  Her name is Keisha.  I use to have an American Eskimo (Rebel) so I was happy to see this sweet one.  There was another one on the back steps but it wouldn't come out to greet me.  The lady that lived there said the one on the steps was a rescue from a "puppy mill" and that Keisha was his protector.

As I turned the corner I noticed the fancy little gate they had in the front of their place so I took a picture of it.

Both these photos were shot back in February of this year.  A couple of days ago I was driving by the place again when I noticed something and I just had to go home and get my camera and go back to photograph it.

There were roses blooming in the yard.  This is part of the side fence.

There was an arbor with roses growing over it in the front by the fancy gate.

Isn't that pretty! - Notice behind the arbor there seem to be more roses blooming.

Wait for it......................

Isn't that just amazing and so beautiful and romantic looking!

I drove back around the block and stopped once more because I spotted the shy little American Eskimo sitting on the back steps.  I didn't get out because I didn't want to scare him and he didn't get up so this is the best shot I could get of him.

It pays to go back sometimes and revisit a fence because if I hadn't I would never have been able to share those gorgeous roses with you all.

Don't forget to stop in and check out the other Good Fences.  Have a great day.

Seasons - May Happenings

So much to do lately with all the flower planting, bowling, end of school activities, birthdays etc...Finally I'm joining Jesh (St. Germains) for SEASONS again.

Recently we took a drive one evening to see if we could spot the Goats that had been released in what is someday supposed to be a Mall here.  It's been vacant for several years now & over grown with brush and just looks horrible.  So the city brought in a herd of over 300 goats to help clean up all the brush and plants so they can begin to start working on the mall again next year.

Here is one of the pictures of those goats.

On the way home we spotted some deer in a field nearby so we pulled into a parking area and I took a few pictures.

It had been raining and after we saw these deer we spotted a lovely rainbow in the sky.

This is my shot that I took. - Coleen had her camera with her and it has a wide-angle feature on it so she was able to capture the entire rainbow.  I'm sharing her photo as well.

Finally just because I think it's pretty I'm sharing a photo of a Golden Chain tree and some Rhododendron's that I took recently while out driving.

What a beautiful season it is!

Also my new header today is some Chalk Art that Coleen drew last night in our driveway.  I converted them to Impressionist type photos on, www.befunky.com and used PicMonkey to create the banner.
