Wild Bird Wednesday - Let's do the Turkey Trot

Joining in today with Stewart (Paying Ready Attention) for WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

My mom, Coleen and I took a drive last Saturday afternoon and low and behold some Wild Turkeys ran right out in front of us.  I quickly pulled over and snapped a few pictures of them and then we were on our way.

There were just six turkeys in this group.  Further up the road we spotted some more wild turkeys.

How many do you see here?  It was hard to get them all in one shot because they started moving into the brush very quickly.  We estimated there were about 15-20 turkeys altogether, though you probably can't see that many in this shot.

Heading for cover.

Blending into their surroundings.

Heading up the mountain side.

Good-bye turkey's it was fun seeing you.

So let's do a little dance now in your honor.

Have a great day.

  7. i think that I see 14 turkeys although some of them are pretty well in camo. What fun seeing them out like that. we have quite a few wild turkeys up around our cabin, although they are pretty shy and we don' t see them too often. we hear them cackling though. Surprisingly, that baby was planned for... remarriage and wanted a child together. Sure at her age it is going to be a big adjustment. Hope you are enjoying fall

  13. I have seen wild turkeys around our neighborhood a few times now. Always amazes me, because we are not living in a rural area. And, yes, they are very shy.

  19. Great photos! You did very well--it seems the turkeys are too fast for me and my camera when I'm lucky enough to catch a glimpse. One morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw some strutting across the road into my neighbor's yard. Then they were gone before I could grab my camera. :-)

  22. Ok - LOVE the song! LOL

And also, turkeys! who doesn't love turkey?! we had a herd, flock, what is a bunch of turkeys??? - that lived in the very woods I showed today. they used to come out and wander all over our street. we'd be waiting for the bus, and there would be like 15 turkeys on my front lawn with all the kids. crazy. I don't know where they moved on to.. but I kinda miss seeing them.

  24. I'm excited for you that you got to see the Turkeys. We have quite a few in our area, but it's always a hit and miss situation. We don't get to see them very often.

  25. Sweet images! We have had lots of wild turkeys in and around our neighborhood for years but all of a sudden they disappeared. Thinking maybe it was coyotes...I miss seeing them now.

  28. Great photos! We see turkeys on our walks here a lot. They don't seem bothered by us at all and the dogs don't pay much attention to them for some reason. I have some photos, but never shared them. You did get some good shots!
