My mom, Coleen and I took a drive last Saturday afternoon and low and behold some Wild Turkeys ran right out in front of us. I quickly pulled over and snapped a few pictures of them and then we were on our way.

There were just six turkeys in this group. Further up the road we spotted some more wild turkeys. How many do you see here? It was hard to get them all in one shot because they started moving into the brush very quickly. We estimated there were about 15-20 turkeys altogether, though you probably can't see that many in this shot.
Heading for cover.
Blending into their surroundings.
Heading up the mountain side.
Good-bye turkey's it was fun seeing you.
So let's do a little dance now in your honor.
Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteprobably heading for high ground and some good hiding spots.... Thanksgiving is coming.... RUN!!
ReplyDeleteWild turkeys are so funny. My parents in S. Dakota get them in their backyard all the time. I love watching them strut around.
ReplyDeletegreat captures....they are difficult to photograph!!
ReplyDeletei hope they escape turkey day!!
i think that I see 14 turkeys although some of them are pretty well in camo. What fun seeing them out like that. we have quite a few wild turkeys up around our cabin, although they are pretty shy and we don' t see them too often. we hear them cackling though. Surprisingly, that baby was planned for... remarriage and wanted a child together. Sure at her age it is going to be a big adjustment. Hope you are enjoying fall
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to see, Ida.
ReplyDeletewe see wild turkeys all the time in VA. i noticed as we have been traveling out west more ... there are even more ... but they don't fly as much as the ones in VA. the do more walking? i wonder why that is??! ( :
ReplyDeleteneat sightings.
Cool shots of possibly someone's Thanksgiving dinner.
ReplyDeleteSuch great fallish photos of the turkeys!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny! Great sighting of the turkeys. Wonderful photos, Ida!
ReplyDeleteI have seen wild turkeys around our neighborhood a few times now. Always amazes me, because we are not living in a rural area. And, yes, they are very shy.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of the wild turkeys!
ReplyDeleteYou got some wonderful pics. I had 3 to run out in front of my car the other day, but my photos were terrible.
ReplyDeleteWe seem them quite a bit around here. I think they are an odd mix of ugly and majestic!
ReplyDeleteA great series of photos and the turkeys look as if they blend so well with the foliage.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, Ida! Hug.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! You did very well--it seems the turkeys are too fast for me and my camera when I'm lucky enough to catch a glimpse. One morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw some strutting across the road into my neighbor's yard. Then they were gone before I could grab my camera. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood shots! When I was a kid we almost never saw wild turkeys but they have made a comeback in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, and I must say you definitely have some intriguing pictures here. Totally fun! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI could count at least 10!
ReplyDeleteOk - LOVE the song! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd also, turkeys! who doesn't love turkey?! we had a herd, flock, what is a bunch of turkeys??? - that lived in the very woods I showed today. they used to come out and wander all over our street. we'd be waiting for the bus, and there would be like 15 turkeys on my front lawn with all the kids. crazy. I don't know where they moved on to.. but I kinda miss seeing them.
You have some nice captures here ! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are funny to look at!
ReplyDeleteI love it :) And the writing you used on one of the pictures is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you that you got to see the Turkeys. We have quite a few in our area, but it's always a hit and miss situation. We don't get to see them very often.
ReplyDeleteSweet images! We have had lots of wild turkeys in and around our neighborhood for years but all of a sudden they disappeared. Thinking maybe it was coyotes...I miss seeing them now.
ReplyDeleteUnique gate ---I've never seen one quite like this before.
ReplyDeleteAren't the turkeys fun to watch and photograph? We saw some yesterday, but were going down a busy highway...
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! We see turkeys on our walks here a lot. They don't seem bothered by us at all and the dogs don't pay much attention to them for some reason. I have some photos, but never shared them. You did get some good shots!
