Good Fences #139 - Something Is Missing

Welcome - I always seem to be apologizing for not posting much or getting around to visit blogs. - My life lately has been taken up by looking after my mom.  She developed Edema & an Infection in her legs.  The infection is gone now after a 2 week course of Antibiotics which I had to give her every 6 hours.  The Edema is now being treated by a Home Nurse who comes out at least once a week to wrap her legs but I need to be there when she does as my mom doesn't hear real well and depends on me to tell her what people are saying. - So if I don't pop by your blog you'll know that it's because I'm busy.

So now it's time to join Theresa for GOOD FENCES

Here is my fence find for this week.

I spotted this section of fence and gate while out on a walk.  - There seems to be something missing, can you figure out what?

Need a hint?.....

I wonder what happened to that missing piece of fence on the gate.

So that's my find for this week.  -  Please stop by The Run-a-Round Ranch Report to check out the other Good Fences.

Have a great day.

Good Fences #138 - Rustic Beauty

What a week it's been here in the US - I'm sure the world is watching us all now and seeing just how we are going to handle this election.  Again I
urge everyone regardless of how you voted to be kind to each other, show respect & stand behind our leaders in prayer.

So now let's move on to something not political in nature.  -  It's time for,
GOOD FENCES - Hosted by Theresa from The Run-a-round Ranch Report.

My fence today is nothing super spectacular.  It's just a plain wooden fence but I think it's beautiful if you stop to look at the details.

I love the various heights of the boards on this fence.  -  It looks faded on the one side but I'm thinking that is just due to the way the sun was shining on it and the angle that I shot the photo. - It's still a very weathered fence.

I like the gate in the middle of the two sections of the fence. and the moss growing on the fence as well.

My favorite feature is the latch that is on the fence.  I think it's really cool looking and give it a very rustic feel.

Sometimes aged things just have a beauty all there own.  Imperfections can be beautiful.

Don't forget to stop by and check out all the other great fences.  Have a wonderful day.

Good Fences #131 - "Got Paint?"

Welcome! - It's GOOD FENCES day!

Every week Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) hosts this awesome meme.   So let's join in the fun of looking for Good Fences.

Walking down one of the neighborhood alley's I spotted a fence that made me smile.  The reason is that this fence was badly in need of a paint job (it still is by the way) but I realized that even a neglected fence can be beautiful.

Let's see what you think...  (Click to Enlarge for better detail)

Loving the mossy look on the worn posts.

Yes at one time this use to be the typical "white picket" fence but now I think it has great character just as it is.

Hope you've enjoyed this fence in need of paint but still beautiful.

Nasty headache today so I may be awhile visiting your blogs.

Good Fences #120 - White Stone Wall

Welcome! - I've been absent from the blog for a few days but am back today for GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranc Report)

Just down the street from us is a White Stone wall/fence that I find very interesting to photograph.

This shot shows the gate that is on one end of the wall.  I think it has a "medieval" look to it.

In this shot you can see the lovely flowering tree that drapes over it in the spring.

Finally I captured a view of the wall through another fence on a vacant lot.  I like how the roses blooming in the overgrown yard are visable through the opening of the fence.

Hope you have enjoyed my fences today.  Have a wonderful day.

Good Fences #115 - A Fence Going, Going, Gone.

Welcome! - It's been super busy with activities recently and I've not been posting or visiting as much as I would like to.  - I am joining Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) today for:  GOOD FENCES

There is a house about 2 blocks down the street from where we live that is used as a "vacation" rental house.  Down one side of the yard there was a White Picket type fence bordering the property.  It made no sense since the rest of the yard wasn't fenced in but who knows why they put it up.

Anyway little by little I noticed that some of the slats of the fence were missing. Apparently it's a "thing" to pull them off the fences.  I just don't understand the thrill of destroying someone else's property but it happens.

So one day I was driving by and I noticed they were removing the fence.
I went home and got my camera to take some pictures.

As you can see here there was a hedge behind the fencing and most of the fence was already gone.  I never did get a picture of the fence while it was up because it really wasn't that interesting of a fence.  Just one of those metal white picket fences that you see quite often.

An angle view looking down the street towards the direction where we live.

Same view but you can see the wooden posts behind the white fence.  They also had a wooden fence bordering the back where the garage & alley are located.

Just a few pieces of the fence hardware that was lying around.

All stacked up and laying against the garage.

It took a couple of days for them to take the fencing down.  This may be the reason why......

Hope you've enjoyed today's post.  Don't forget to check out the other Good Fences & have a great day.

Good Fences #96 - New or Used

Welcome! - It's been a "busy" week here with back-to-back birthday celebrations so I haven't been on the computer much.  - I'm joining GOOD FENCES today hosted by Theresa from The Run-a-round Ranch Report.

Today you are just getting 1 (I know shocking) photo.

I spotted this fence while walking down an alley one day.  -  What's your take,  do you think it's a "New" or a "Used" fence?

I'm going for (used) myself.

Don't forget to stop by and check out the other particpants fences.

Good Fences #90 - Aging Wrought Iron

Hello! - It's time to join in the fun of GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report).

For this weeks fence I'm featuring an old Wrought Iron fence that I pass by on my walks. - The last time I was by though they had part of the fence taped off and I think they might be going to remove it.

I like this shot as you also get the shadow of the fence and can see another (white) fence down the street.

A different angle.  You can see a dip in one of the railings and the lichen growing on the stones that the fence is set in.

Finally a close-up view of part of the fence.

It's super busy around here right now with holiday preparations so I may be slow visiting your blogs.  - Take care & enjoy the season.

Good Fences #56 (Let the Sun Shine In)

Hello!  Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful day.
It's sunny here today (Hooray) and I'm enjoying that.

So let's have some fun by joining Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES.

In honor of the sun shining here today I'm sharing a fence that I took photos of sometime last fall.    I'd never seen this pattern before on a fence and I really liked it.  I do believe that Debbie (It's All About Purple) featured this fence pattern HERE back in 2014 and I remember thinking then, Oh darn now mine won't be as cool.  But you know that's silly because it's not a competition to see who has the coolest fence so today I'm sharing my Sun Fence shots.

You can see the leaves in the yard indicating that it was fall but the sun was out and shining that day just as it is today.

And a closer look at the sun in the fence pattern.

Have a sun shine day!

Good Fences 51

Good Morning! - It's time to join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES.

Last week I featured a fancy Wrought Iron fence and mentioned that I would post the fence bordering that property this week.  Funny thing....When I went down to get some other pictures of the fence I planned to post today I discovered that this fence is actually a block away from the fancy Wrought Iron fence.

However there will be two fences ( make that 3) here today because these two fences  actually are the ones that border each other.

In this shot you will see the Green Picket fence and another wooden fence on the other side of the yard.  What is fun here are the cute little birds that sit on top the fence posts.

I took two different shots of these birds from different angles.  This is one of them and below is the other.

Do you think it's about to peck off that bug/spider just below on the post?

So what fence is right next door to this one......

It's a green wire fence with black wrought iron posts.  Lots of overgrown weeds or brambles too.

The view from the opposite direction.

Finally a close-up of the iron posts and brambles.

I hope you've enjoyed these fences today. - Don't forget to stop in and visit Theresa's blog and check out the other great fence participants.

Good Fences - December 11, 2014

Howdy! - I've been absent from blogging this week due to trying to get ready for Christmas and may not be around much until after the holidays.  Anyway I did want to join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES today.

Sharing today another of my fence finds that I thought was unusual and different.

I had never seen a fence with a pattern like this one before.  Of course I just had to include some of the gorgeous fall color from a tree that was in the parking strip. (Note these photos were all taken in early November.)

A closer look at the fence which was starting to age.  I love the moss/lichen that is beginning to grow on it.

Another long view looking down the fence line.

The different patterns here fascinated me.  You have rectangles and triangles and the different textures of the wood grain.

Finally a shot of the Gate going into the yard.

Note here the pattern changed from a rectangle to a square.

Be sure to check out the other great fences by visiting Theresa's blog and have a great weekend.  - It's another SUPER BLUSTERY day here.

Good Fences - Ginkgo Tree Edition

Linking up today for GOOD FENCE hosted by Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report.) -  Hope you are all warm and cozy where you are at today.  It's a COLD one today with (shhhh, snow is on the way) here.  I'm staying inside as much as possible. Snow and winter are not my friends.

Last week I went out and drove around for awhile looking for some new fences to photograph (planning ahead for those days when I can't get out).
Right down the street from us is a house with a nice wooden fence.  What caught my eye wasn't the fence so much as what was behind it....

Just look at those Golden Ginkgo leaves cascading over the fence.  Aren't they delightful.

Ginkgo Trees fascinate me.  To learn more about them click on this link.

I like the Cupola's on this fence.

Isn't this branch pretty....oh the fence isn't to bad either!

This branch still had some yellow and some green leaves on it.

Note these photos were taken on 11-6-2014 just one week ago.  So this morning I walked down the street in our wonderful 20 degree weather with my camera and snapped this next photo to show you how much difference a week can make.

Yep all the leaves are gone now and that poor tree is bare but you can really see the top of the fence line now.  My hands nearly froze off walking back home so I'm staying inside now and enjoying looking at all your fences.
