Scavenger Hunt Sunday - January 5, 2014

Welcome. -  My SONGOGRAPHY post can be found by clicking on the link.

I hadn't planned on a SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY entry because I didn't realize that a list of prompts had been posted until about 10:00 tonight when I popped by Ashley's blog and low and behold she had a post up.  I missed seeing the list she'd posted because I didn't scroll all the way to the end of the post.  Needless to say I was scrambling to fit this weeks prompts into photo's I've taken this week.

I want to first say that I was so excited to have participated in a full year of Scavenger Hunt Sunday last year.  I completed 51 weeks without missing one.  I would have done the 52nd week if Ashley hadn't taken a break that week.  Can't say I will make another entire year of the hunt but I'll give it a try.

Here are this week's prompts:  Photographer's Choice, Lunch, Starts with the Letter G, My Town and Words to Live by.

PHOTOGRAPHERS CHOICE:  This was "easy peasy" because I think this is my favorite photo that I took this week.  Coleen and I went up to Bennington Lake this week as I wanted to test out my new zoom lens.  I was clear across the lake when I took this shot and I just love how detailed it turned out and how pretty the landscape is.

LUNCH:  Okay this is a stretch because I never took any actual lunch photo's but I did take a New Year's breakfast photo and since it was fairly late in the morning when we ate I'm calling it a "Brunch" photo instead.

STARTS WITH THE LETTER G....This is "Ghost" the cat featured in my header photo right now.

MY TOWN:  Coleen and I went for a walk with Pixie today and I snapped  this photo of one of the bridges that are in our town.

WORDS TO LIVE BY:  With the start of a New Year come resolutions, or as many are doing picking a "word" to focus on throughout the coming year.  (Mine is Love) but I thought this quote was also a good for the prompt.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out Ashley's blog to see what others come up with for the prompts.  -  If you can participate do so.  Here are the prompts for next week. (Happens Everyday, Upside Down, Natural, Man-Made, Looking Down.)

Songography - Unwritten Edition

It's a "New" year and lots of new beginnings await each and everyone of us.  How we deal with them determines what kind of  year it will be.

The theme song for this weeks SONGOGRAPHY  is,  Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

I forgot to mention that I'll also be doing SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY which you can find by clicking on the link.

I liked the line in the song about a,  Blank Page because that's exactly what each new year is.  A blank page of life to be written by each of us everyday of that year.

I was out today for a walk with Coleen and my mom's dog, Pixie.  We passed by a church and the sunlight was illuminating through the window so beautifully.  -  When I went to pick out a photo for this song this is what came to mind and so that's what I'm going with.

I hope that my year's blank pages are filled with many new beginnings and illuminated with God's loving light as I journey through it.

How will you fill your blank page?

Don't forget to stop by Kathy's blog, (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) and check out how others have interpreted this song.

Random 5 Friday

Hello! -  If you are here to view my entry for PHOTO ART FRIDAY click on the link.

It's time to join Nancy (A Rural Journal) for Random 5 Friday.

1.  The above photo has nothing to do with Random thoughts...well maybe it does.  This is (Fred-L and Ghost-R) the neighbors kittens.  Of course they aren't feeding them properly so we get to do it.  They show up on my mom's porch every morning and every night for food.  They've been sleeping in the hollowed out TV case that sits on her porch.  I managed to get a picture of them together yesterday.)  -  Feeding all these extra cats is not cheap but we just can't let them go hungry.

2.  I love Christmas decorations.....I "HATE" the work it takes to put them away.  - My back is killing me today as I packed up all the inside stuff yesterday and helped to move it back to the basement storage area.

3.  We need a 1-level house. I hate stairs...oh my aching back!

4.  I got a new zoom camera lens for Christmas!!! - Now if only I had time to go out and shoot something with it.  I have been using it just around the house to test it out though.  So far I'm loving it.

5.  The new Professional Bull Riding (PBR) season starts today! - I can't wait to see which riders will ride or get bucked off.  - Also I know I've admitted this before but I'm addicted to the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows and the new season starts Monday.  I'll be kicking back with my Wine Coolers and watching mindless TV for sure...Yep, it's back to normal life now that the holidays are over.

Last nights sunset...

Thanks for stopping by.

Photo Art Friday - January 3, 2014

Welcome! - It's time for the very first Photo Art Friday of 2014. Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) is the wonderful host of this meme.  Be sure to pop by her blog and check it out.

The optional theme this month was to choose a "word" that you would like to focus on throughout the coming year and showcase it in a piece of photo art.

For me I find it rather hard to pick a word out because I tend to live life more on a (day to day) basis and concentrating on a particular word just seems to take some of the excitement and mystery out of what may or may not happen in this year.

At any rate I do think that the word in my piece is something that is achievable no matter who you are: (Be sure to click to Enlarge)

Amour  or LOVE as I am choosing is a perfect word.  I'm choosing to love more this year.  Love life, Love Others, Love God, Love Photography, Love Photo Art, Love Learning New Things ...well you get the picture.

Believe it or not the (heart) is this piece is actually a potato chip.  I  liked it's heart shape and put it on one of our dinner plates, photographed it and then played around with textures (Bonnie's Heartache by the Numbers) and some cool effects from Pic Monkey completed the look.

Thank you for stopping by.

Out with the "old" and in with the "new"

Welcome to my first post of 2014!  -  Happy New Year everyone!

I thought before I shared the New Year's stuff I'd share the last sunset of 2013 with you.

The sky was beautiful last night.  We'd had a rainy day but it cleared off by evening which was great because we were able to light our Fireworks.

It was a typical New Years Eve for us here.  -  We made our Nacho's (sorry I didn't take pictures) and watched movies.  This year we chose,
RIPD (Rest In Peace Department) - Strange but not a bad movie.  Then we did 2 kid movies,  Planes, which was rather cute and Despicable Me2, also a fun and cute movie.  Sometime before that one was over we headed over to my mom's for our annual New Year's photo.

Yes we look like "dorks" but that's the fun of it.

We toasted in the New Year, blew our party horns, set off the fireworks and then finished the movie and went to bed about 1:30 am...Then it seemed I couldn't stay asleep because I woke up almost every hour on the hour and finally got up at 7:00 this morning.  -  I think I need a NAP!!!

Looking forward to the New Year and sharing with all of you.  Off to watch the Rose Parade.
