Songography - Autumn Serenade

Joining Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) today for SONGOGRAPHY

I've chosen:  Autumn Serenade by John Coltrane as my song choice today.

Through the trees comes autumn with her serenade.
Melodies the sweetest music ever played.
Autumn kisses we knew are beautiful souvenirs.
As I pause to recall the leaves seem to fall like tears.
Silver stars were clinging to an autumn sky.
Love was ours until October wandered by.
Let the years come and go,
I'll still feel the glow that time can not fade
When I hear that lovely autumn serenade.

Thankful today for:

1.  Remembering to go photograph these grapevine leaves before they were gone.

2. Bowling a couple of decent games this morning.

3. A nice lunch (Chinese) with the ladies I bowl with.

4.  That my hubby remembered to bring in Ghost from the rain.

5.  That the snow we got was only in our mountains and not in town.

Song-ography - Stray Cat Strut

Joining Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) today for SONG-OGRAPHY

I had this photo that I thought was funny and just knew that there was a song that this would work with.  Here is what I came up with.

Stray Cat Strut - By the Stray Cats
"Wild stray cat, you're a real gone guy"
I wish I could be as carefree and wild
But I got cat class and I got cat style

Kathy has a (suggested) song but you can also go with your own song and interpretation.  I hope you enjoy mine today.  -  Don't forget to stop in and check out the other participants.

Also please remember to vote in the Caption This Poll on my sidebar.  You can see the post HERE to know what you are voting on.

Songography - Soak Up The Sun

It's time to join Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for SONGOGRAPHY

This weeks song choice:  Soak Up The Sun by Sheryl Crow.

We haven't had much sun this past week - It's taken a bit of a "spring break" I think.  Looks like it might be back this weekend though as the forecast is for sunny skies and temps in the 70's!

My choice for the song.  This sun lawn ornament I captured a few weeks ago when the sun was actually out.  I love that it has cobwebs on it.

Off to bowling now.  Have a great day.

Songongraphy - American Pie

Joining Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for SONGOGRAPHY today.

For some reason I thought today's song was, Another Brick in the Wall (and I will share that was well) but that was last weeks song.  Anyway today's song is,  American Pie by Don Mclean.

I've always loved this song no matter if I understood the lyrics or not.  It's a very long song and I have it on a 45 record.  To hear the complete song you had to flip the record over to play the other side.

So for last weeks Another Brick in the Wall I found this:

It's the back of one of the houses in our neighborhood.  It really has nothing to do with the lyrics of the song but I thought it was pretty cool anyway.

Hope you've enjoyed these.

Songography - A Pocket Full of Sunshine

It's been some time since I've joined Kathy,
(You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for her meme,

SONG-OGRAPHY  so today I thought I would join in on the fun.  The song selection today,

-Pocketful of Sunshine (Natasha Bedingfield).

There is certainly no sunshine here today and boy is it COLD outside so I went to my archieves and found this photo from early October that I think fits the song quite well.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine)
A secret place
(I got a love and I know that it's all mine)
Take me away, a hiding place
The sun is on my side and takes me for a ride
I smile up to the sky, I know I'll be alright
The sun is on my side and takes me for a ride
I smile up to the sky, I know I'll be alright

I'm thinking this guy listening to his "tunes" on a nice sunny October day certainly had a pocket full of sunshine and he made me smile.

Songography (These are Days) and some Rubbish

Joining Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) again for SONG-OGRAPHY .  This weeks song was one not familiar to me so I went and listened, (I liked) and then I interpreted....

I captured this pensive moment of Coleen last Wednesday when we went on another of our nature outings to Rooks Park.  I feel "blessed and lucky" to have this little girl in my life and to watch her "bloom and grow" into a young lady and someday a young woman.  She is indeed touched by something special.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also joining Road (Rubbish by Roan) for RUBBISH TUESDAY.

While driving out of the park we happened upon this barn (or what's left of it) and I pulled over to snap some photos.

Poor tractor looks a bit neglected there in that pile of wood.

Be sure to stop by both blogs and check out the other participants.  Thanks as always for your visits and your comments.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday and Song-ography, June 8, 2014

I will be joining in today on SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY hosted by Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) and also SONG-OGRAPHY hosted by Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out.)

First up for the hunt:  The prompts:  Denim, Light, Watch, Perspective, Fuel.

I'm going a little out of order here because I want to use one of the prompts as part of Song-ography as well.

LIGHT:  This was the sunset here on Monday the 2nd after Coleen's Piano Recital.

I love everything about this photo.  The light was just amazing.

WATCH:

Hubby was husking corn and it caught their attention.  (Snickers in the back, Spooky-boo on the Left and Harley on the Right.)

I also have another one for this as we went to a street concert tonight and these dogs were there with their owners (watching) the concert.  I'm not sure this fellow was enjoying the music though.

PERSPECTIVE:

From Eric the cat's perspective here I'd say the world was upside down!

FUEL:

Part of one of the exhibits at Ft. Walla Walla.

DENIM:  (This is also part of Songography) where the Song was, Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band.

~A Pair of Jeans that fit just right.

(You can see mine are well loved.  The darker ones are brand new jeans that hubby just bought.)

"It's funny how it's the little things in life
that mean the most
Not where you live or what you drive
or the price tag on your clothes
There's no dollar sign on peace of mind
this I've come to know."

This is the side of a semi-truck I spotted in the parking lot at the grocery store one day.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Hi! -  If you are here to view my Scavenger Hunt Sunday photo's please click on the link to be directed to that post.

I'm joining in on SONG-OGRAPHY this week as well.  Hosted by Kathy from (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out).  The song this week is:  Upside Down by Jack Johnson.

Here is my take:

Lately this is how I've been feeling.  Like I'm spinning round and round, upside down.  Life gets so busy sometimes you barely have time to breath but in the end it all seems to work out and then you wonder what all the fuss was about.

Photo taken at the Ducky Derby.  For another shot from the derby be sure to check out my Scavenger Hunt Sunday entry.

Songography - The "Happy" Edition

Howdy-do!

Thought I'd change it up from (Welcome) to something different today.

Won't you please join me along with the wonderful host of SONGOGRAPHY (Kathy-You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for this weeks song,

Happy by Pharrell Williams.

Coleen was outside one day this week playing around with a scarf and the mask she got at school in the prize box.  I really thought she looked happy and carefree.

She makes me happy!

Songography - Turn, Turn, Turn

Welcome!

This week Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) has chosen the song,  Turn, Turn, Turn - Byrds as this weeks SONGOGRAPHY song.  I loved this song.  It's scripturally based on  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 in the Bible.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

We've just entered a new season here with the arrival of spring.  Let's celebrate!

I captured these Pussywillow blooms during the "Golden Hour" one evening this past week.  I love the play of the sunlight on their fuzzy blossoms.

The neighbors around the corner have these two beautiful trees planted right next to each other.  Loving the double blooms on the pink tree.

Some of the new mini daffodils we planted last fall.  These are in Coleen's little flower bed at my mom's house.

Some daffodils in my mom's yard. They start out with the yellow tone and change to the peach tone as they age.  So pretty.

A Tulip Tree just a few houses away from our house.  They are stunning but oh so messy when the blooms die and fall off the tree.

Hope you enjoyed this little breath of spring air.  What a season to enjoy.
Please stop by and join in on the fun of Songography.

Songography - Signs Edition

Hi,  Welcome to my blog.  I hope you enjoy your stay.

I'm participating this week in SONGOGRAPHY hosted by Kathy, (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out).

This weeks song,  -Signs (Five Man Electrical Band)

                                Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

This sign was put up down the road a few blocks from our house.  The street we live on is already in need of major repairs but the winter caused even further damage to the street in places.  This is one sign you want to make sure you read especially if the shocks on your car don't work that great!

I had hoped to have something way more profound because this song is one of those "makes you think about it" type songs from the 70's but this was the only thing that came to mind today when I went out looking for signs.

I'm thinking though that LIFE can be a "rough road" at times and it's how we deal with it that makes the difference in whether or not we make it through the rough patches.

I have found this to be helpful in navigating through the rough roads of life:

Isaiah 7:14 ESV
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

(Immanuel) means....God is with us.

Trusting and believing in this sign is all I need to ensure my life is on the correct pathway.

Be sure to stop by Kathy's blog and check out the other interpretations of this song.

Songography & Sunlit Sunday

Hi, Welcome!  -  Hope you enjoy your stay.

It's time to join Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for SONGOGRAPHY.  This weeks song,   I would Walk 500 Miles (The Proclaimers).  I'll also be joining a new to me Meme today, SUNLIT SUNDAY hosted by Karen (My
Little Home and Garden)

This was not a song that I was familiar with but when I played it my daughter, Greta knew the lyrics so I'm guessing it's a more modern up-to-date type song and of course being stuck in the 70's with Classic Rock songs I'm not up on the latest music.  I know I need to broaden my musical repertoire.  I listened to the song and looked up the lyrics.  Basically a song about a "man" doing whatever he needs to do just to be with you.  So did I go that route with my take, nope.   So here is what I came up with:

I must clarify that I certainly wouldn't take a 500 mile morning walk but I do like taking early morning walks and just think of the benefits that walking gives you.  You get great exercise, you get to enjoy nature, you might even see an occasional kitty out for a morning stroll as well.

Enjoy your day!
