Hi & Welcome. It's always a pleasure to have you stop by.
It's Thursday and time for GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report). It's a place where you can view fences from all over the world. So what's so cool about fences? - Well stop by and check it out and I think you'll understand.
So does anyone remember this Concrete Block Fence I posted back in February?
I thought it was pretty neat and different. I was driving around the other day and spotted a different concrete block fence. This pattern is quite different from the square pattern of the other concrete blocks so I thought I would share it with you.
In this shot you can see a "rug" draped over the fence and the wooden fence on the front side of the yard.
A little closer view and some of the shadows from the trees.
In this shot you can see moss growing on top the concrete blocks. Gives it character I think.
So which pattern do you like better? I'm leaning towards the circle pattern shown here today.
So don't forget to stop by Theresa's blog and check out the other participants.
Now for the Blogging Award: Annie (McGuffy's Reader) Nominated me for a Blogging Award last Friday. It's called the Creative Blogger Award. I just want to say, Thanks to Annie for nominating me for this award.
There are a few (rules) or suggestions as I like to call them for receiving this award:
A.) Thank the one who gave you the award. - Which I've already done above.
B.) Link to the blog of the one who gave the award to you. - Ditto above.
C.) Tell five things about yourself. - This part is always hard for me. Does that count as one of my five things? No...well then if you insist here are 5 things you may or may not care to know about me.
1. My favorite actor of all time is, Robert Redford. I don't think though that I have a favorite actress although I have enjoyed every film that Audrey Hepburn made so perhaps I'll go with her for my favorite.
2. I love music of all types but really don't like (Rap or Opera). My favorite though is Classic Rock and yes I'm stuck in the 70's. Favorite Group: The Eagles, which I've had the thrill of hearing in concert a few times.
3. I've got a "sweet tooth" and love baked goods. I feel the urge to bake something off of Gina Kleinworth's blog. Perhaps these: They look pretty sinful and delicious.
4. This is no secret to anyone who's visited my blog before, I love cats. Cats of all kinds. Lately we've started bringing in Eric (the cat). Someone recently commented that I'd mentioned he was a neighbors cat and asked why we were bringing him inside our house then. True he (did) belong to some neighbors but he was an outside only cat and he started hanging around our place and we were feeding him and taking care of him and he decided to stay around. I talked to the owner about him and she said, "He apparently chose you and we don't mind because we know he's being loved." - So now he spends a lot of time inside (especially at night) and occasionally during the day and we're calling him our cat now.
5. I'm afraid of flying. I've flown before though but really don't enjoy it. I'm always thankful when the plane is back on the ground.
Finally nominate other bloggers.
Here are a few I enjoy: You don't have to accept the award but if you do please play along the best you can.
Shug...My Steps of Faith - She always has something fun on her blog and is such a positive person. She's got a great fence there today for Good Fences.
Heather-Our Life In A Click - Heather has great photos, good recipes and fun crafts to share. I always enjoy popping by her blog.
Lynda - Farm-ily - She's a new to me blogger that I've recently started visiting but I love her blog. Since I'm sort of a city girl it's fun to learn about farming and she has great photos of farm life that I think you'd enjoy even if you aren't into farming.
Gail - At The Farm - Again she is also a new blogger I've recently started visiting. She's learning photography and doing a fine job I think. She writes poetry as well. I find her blog very interesting and I think you will too.
Those are just a few of the many blogs I visit and enjoy. I hope you'll check them out.
Have a great day.
i'm glad eric-the-cat's first owners don't mind. :)
ReplyDeletei think i like the circle pattern best, too, because you really have to look to see it is made of blocks, too.
Congratulations on winning that award. It was fun hearing more stuff about you. Thank you for taking the neighbors cat inside and loving it.
ReplyDeleteI love that cement block wall. That is so nice.
You all have a great day.
We have lots of the concrete block fences you show in your first photo in N. Ireland but the other designs are new to me and I really like the circles pattern too!
ReplyDeleteReally different! Thanks for sharing!
Christine
Hello Ida, I like this concrete block wall. It is a pretty design.. Congrats on your award..I like the classic rock too, but I listen to a lot of the newer country songs. Great answers, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for thinking of me.
ReplyDeleteI love the Eagles too!
YesI like the moss triming on the decorative concrete blocks
ReplyDeleteI am honored! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have my post of five secret things. Kidding...just five things about me.
Thanks again. Scheduled to post Tuesday.
I like the fence made with decorative concrete blocks. I'm surprised I've not seen more of them especially having once lived in Arizona where most homes in the cities have block fences but they are generally build with solid blocks. Maybe some people are afraid of their neighbors peeking through!
ReplyDeleteThe concrete fences are built to last, aren't they? Congrats on your award. I always enjoy my visit here! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteLove the second fence...if someone would say to me "a concrete fence" I would not have like it, but now I see one, It's kind of a different style - I could see it in town or city! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThese are very cool and quite unique....but they certainly do a fine job. And look pretty doing it!!
ReplyDeleteI think I lean to the fence you showed us before, with the leaf/star pattern. However, I do find it interesting how different the pattern of this fences appears from a different angle.
ReplyDeleteRobert Redford is my all time favorite actor as well! And boy, do I like the Eagles.
The concreete latice work fence is beautiful, and very sturdy.
ReplyDeleteConcrete block fences are popular in Southern California. I haven't seen many in the PNW. This one is nice!
ReplyDeleteThose are cool concrete fences!
ReplyDeleteInteresting look fence. You sure do find neat looking fences every week!!
ReplyDeleteI too have a sweet tooth. : )
Hi Ida,
ReplyDeleteI like both the concrete block fence designs. If I had to choose one, I would go with the floral patter and not the circular one.
Congrats on the award - you are very creative!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
I agree with you that the second wall is more interesting. Congrats on the award and baring your soul!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I like them both. I've never seen them before and you have two.
ReplyDeleteThey would certainly be sturdy and last.
I think though I'd have to pressure wash that moss off and use some bleach. :)
How fun...I enjoyed reading your answers...and I, too, HATE to fly. I will do it...and have, many times. I try to read but it;s been pointed out that I have my magazine upside down...:)
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think I prefer the second block fence, it looks sort of lacey which softens the bricks somehow. Nice to learn those 5 things about you, too. Thanks heavens I don't share your dislike for flying. I love, love to travel, the further the better and planes are the best way to get there.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm with you Ida. I like the new fence with the circles.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Congrats on your award. I'm happy to know Eric has a home with you now. Bless you for caring for him. I like the newer round fence but I do remember seeing many like the older one you featured. It must have been a popular one! Hope you all are feeling better and having a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteVery unique concrete block fences. I like the circular pattern.
ReplyDeleteYour header with the watercolour effect on the tulips is lovely. I've been slow to make my rounds visiting lately.
I love cats and hate flying too!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the circle fence....I had to look real hard to see the difference, but once I saw it...it stood out clear.
ReplyDeletethank you for your comments about my blog...I always enjoy stopping by to visit you Ida. Such a joyful place to visit each day...
Hi Ida, love the concrete block fence and the design is really unique.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award and enjoyed reading a bit about you.
Have a nice weekend.
Hugs, CM
The patterned concrete blocks make attractive walls.
ReplyDeleteThose concrete blocks used to be quite the thing and I guess that they just don't make them any longer.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a fascinating fence Ida... I don't think I have ever seen one quite like it. Hope you are having a great spring!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the wavey February ones better. Although if it was a contest and one had better flowers, I'd probably vote "best flowers!"
ReplyDelete~
I love the moss on the fence and I think I like the circle pattern because it's one I don't see often. These concrete block fences are certainly sturdy! There must be a reason why Eric chose you. He wanted to be part of a family. I can't imagine having a cat and not letting it come inside.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ida for the nomination. I am quite humbled that you thought of me. I like that you are a regular commenter on my blog and the questions that you ask. And I thoroughly enjoy our many communications about farming - why we do what we do.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your wonderful photography. You have an eye for beauty.
Good to hear you are a fan of the Eagles Ida. One of my all time favourite bands too.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern in the fences makes the cement blocks look rather pretty!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
What interesting fences, Ida! I am thoroughly enjoying seeing everybody's posts for 'Good Fences' - such a fabulous idea to connect bloggers!
ReplyDeleteI am actually a new reader to your blog...I will look around a bit now!
Much love and blessings in Christ,
Kelly-Anne
Congratulations, Ida. I think that many will agree: you deserve this. I am glad that you accepted!
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to learn about others, and I enjoyed your answers!
I loved the 5 things!!!
ReplyDeleteVERY fancy looking fencing with the cinder blocks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty fence Ida!
ReplyDeletei like this fence, have never seen these blocks used this way but it looks good and makes a great fence. i am thinking it was a very expensive fence to build. i am so glad you have adopted Eric, he is so beautiful and needed to be cared for full time. it is dangerous when they roam.. i like some of just about all music and I am stuck in the fifties with my music. my sons loved the Eagles when they were in Jr High.
ReplyDeleteI think Shug My steps of Faith is one of the sweetest and best post i ever read
That fence really is neat and different!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award.
That concrete block makes a very nice fence/wall... very pretty. It's great Eric has a home with you! I am afraid to fly too and avoid it any way that I can.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award!
Love your watercolor header!
Good Morning!
Very cool fencing. Congratulations on your award! You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteHello greetings and good wishes.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on winning the award.
Lovely photos of fences and a very interesting write up.
Best wishes
Loved your list about yourself! And really like that second block fence.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I've seen a concrete fence! Like the circular pattern in the second one.
ReplyDeleteThe round ones are very special. Love that fence.
ReplyDeleteThe circle fence is pretty! We're glad you're bringing Eric in more too! Inside is much safer!
ReplyDeleteConcats on your award. Our catmama loves the Eagles too.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
I like both of the concrete wall fences. They are both so neat to me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award!
Yes, I like that fence too :)
ReplyDeleteI think I will go with the circular pattern. it just seems like it took a lot time and someone cared enough to make it so interesting!
ReplyDeleteMy mom loves Robert Redford!!! She was here one weekend and looking at all my movies, and said "everything is super hero and robots and space...don't you have anything NOT Captain America."
"Robert Redford is in that one mom."
"ok, yeah, this one is good then."
LOL
And Audrey is my all time fave! :)
Thanks again. My thank you post and all my secrets, well, not all, will be posted tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThey are both great fences. I don't think I've ever seen a concrete one before.
ReplyDeleteI like that concrete fencing -- it almost looks like a wall, you know? Esp. from a distance, it's very impressive, and the pattern is intricate. I've never seen one before. Thanks! Ditto on the I-hate-flying! Ugh!
