It's Willy-Nilly & Random 5 Friday - April 1, 2016

Welcome!

Good News today (no joke) - Nancy (A Rural Journal) is back bloggoing again and hosting Random 5 Friday again!

Plus Tanya (Around Roanoke) still hosts Willy-Nilly Friday 5 so now there will be twice the random fun to enjoy!

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY:

1.  I may have used this quote before but it's a good one and this is a new photo and since Spring is in the air I couldn't resist sharing these lovely spring blooms with you.

2.

Spotted this group of deer again recently.  They hang out in a small brush area near a bunch of homes.  I never tire of taking pictures of them.

3. I love frogs and so for my birthday hubby got me a new wind chime.  Isn't it cute!

4.  Did you ever see this episode of Friends?

Well Greta decided to give our cat, Harley a massage the other day with Drum Sticks
He liked it!

5.  Our town has recently had problems with Wild Turkey's invading neighborhoods and causing damage to vehicles , property and chasing school children.  They rounded a bunch of them up and released them back in the mountains. - We spotted this group in a field outside of town recently.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let's join Tanya for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:
1. Spotted this pretty Hot Air ballon the other day (our sky was cloudless - I added the clouds) - This balloon is The Spirit of Walla Walla balloon.

2.  Another shot of the deer (just because they are so pretty)

3. Some fun yard decor we spotted recently.  Gives you something to do with rocks.

4.
It's Harley again.  He looks so peaceful here but you should have seen him this morning when we took him to the Vet.  He needed a check-up and he was NOT a "happy camper" - In fact they ended up having to sedate him just to give him his shots and exam.

5.  Finally a street scene here in town:

These are buses (they look like trolley cars) that take people around town.  Pretty neat looking.  Walla Walla use to actually have trolley cars here years and years ago. Now a funny little story:

So yesterday I was driving around and noticed something really "odd" about the guy that was in front of me.  -  He had his window down and was waving his hand around out the window and looked like he was bebopping to some tunes.  Nothing to weird about that but then I noticed that he had his wind shield wipers on.  You might think,
What's weird about that? - Well how about the fact that it was 79 degrees outside and the sun was shining!  I'd say that was pretty Weird!

Have a great day & I hope you've enjoyed all these "random" things.

Good Fences #59 - A Froggy Went a Courtin

Welcome!  -  Thank you all for the congratulations on our newest furry edition.  Bandit is fitting in quite nicely.   You'll be seeing a lot of him on the blog in coming days.

Today though it's time for some GOOD FENCES hosted by the awesome, Theresa from (The Run-a-round Ranch Report.)

I spotted this cute gate while out on one of my photo walks.  I just had to share it.

Normally I don't like to take photos in the Portrait setting as I just don't think they look as large as they should.  However in this case I made an exception so you could see the top of the gate too.

Here's a little close view.  Notice the "Beware of Dog" tag on the gate.  I didn't see any dog so perhaps it was inside on this day.  (Whew) as I'm not a big fan of scary dogs.

Finally a close-up of my favorite part of this gate.....

I love frogs and thought this sweet little frog couple made for a unique and adorable gate.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing it.

Bonus shot....

Sorry I couldn't resist.  We found Bandit asleep on top the CD player last night.  Silly boy.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - June 1, 2014

Welcome.  It's time to join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.  This weeks prompts:

Make Mine A_________, Quirky, Morning Ritual,
What Were They Thinking, What's in your_______

A couple of my photos are "archive" photos but I just couldn't get all the prompts in this week otherwise.

MAKE MINE A____________

Piping Hot Fresh from the Oven Slice of Pizza....Enough Said1

QUIRKY:  I'm pretty sure I've never shared this before but in case I have please chalk it up to (a senior moment).

On of the many "Quirky" frog statues/figures in Milton-Freewater, OR know for their (Muddy Frogwater Festival).

MORNING RITUAL:  Does Anyone Remember This SHS entry?  Well I realized this morning that I had never shared the Tea Cup shot so since many people enjoy a morning cup of tea as part of their ritual I thought I share this with you as promised in the previous entry:

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING:  Yesterday I took Coleen to an event at the local Community College.  They had lots of activities for kids and one of them was a tour of their Water Facility where they are raising Lamprey Eels and Mussels.  Here is a shot of Coleen and the gal who was giving the tour.  I'm not sure what Coleen was telling her but I love the intense look she has on her face.

WHAT'S IN YOUR________

Mouth...in this case Coleen is inside the mouth of a Giant Salmon.  One of the displays at the Return to the River Salmon Festival that we attended yesterday.

What's Unusual About Me?

Sunday I made mention of a Frog that I took a picture of at a local lake, (Bennington Lake).

Two young girls were trying to catch frogs at the lake and had nets and a cage in which to put any frogs.  Coleen and I were watching them and how excited they were when they finally caught a frog.

I asked if I could take a picture of the frog and they were happy to let me snap away.

Now this frog might seem pretty normal to you when you see this view.

No those stripes across the frog are not markings but rather a shadow from the lid of the container they had the frog in.  I apologize for the photos not being any clearer but it was the best I could do trying to focus my lens inside the lid of the container and the frog was moving about so it was hard to focus really well.

Now you should figure out what's different about this frog in this next picture:

Did you spot the difference?

I'm a MUTANT frog.

Arrows have been drawn to point out that this frog has 2 right back legs.  A second leg was growing out of the original leg.

Pretty weird!!
