Friday Randoms

If you are looking for my GOOD FENCES post click on the link.

Now let's have some "random" fun by joining Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) for: Random Five Friday and Willy-Nilly Friday Five

RANDOM FIVE FRIDAY:

1.  I've been participating in a Photography Group called,
52 Frames.  Each week you are assigned a challenge or theme to photograph.  This particular week the challenge was the color, Red.  I thought a lot about it and then my "sick sense of humor" kicked in and I decided to do a Lobster Boil using Coleen's stuffed lobster.  Here is the photo I submitted for the challenge.  The story of the Lobster Boil will continue in my Willy Nilly photos so be sure to check out the entire post.

2.  My mom & I went last Friday to get haircuts.  I decided to do something different with my hair and I went "short"  It's been about 30 years since I had hair this short.  The first day after I got it cut I sunburned my neck!  I had Coleen take a picture last night (I hate having my picture taken) so you can see the "new-do."

3.  Last Saturday Coleen and I went up to the Park for the annual, "Spring Fling" as they call it.  It's basically a lot of different vendors that you can browse through but they have performers throughout the day & a car show.  I thought this Purple car was pretty neat looking so I took a picture of it.

4.  For Mother's Day I received this lovely rainbow colored spinner.

I also got a smaller one but haven't yet taken a picture of it to share.

5.  You haven't seen Piglet (our cat that lives next door at my mom's) in a long time.  I snapped a picture of him lounging on her floor last night to share.

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:

1.  Lobster Tale (Tail) continued....So during my photo shoot I got the brilliant (or not so brilliant) idea to turn the burner on to make it more realistic.  I shot several photos and then decided I had enough so I turned the burner off and went to take Coleen's lobster out of the pot.  To my horror I discovered that the heat had melted his tail!

I spent almost 2 hours sewing his tail back together enough that it looked halfway decent.  Needless to say everyone had a good laugh about my lack of common sense.  I guess we photographers will do just about anything for a photo shoot!

2.  Sharing another of the 52 Frames challenges.  This one was Macro shooting.  It's not a super close-up but I loved how pretty this photo turned out.

3.  Another of the cars from the car show.

4.  This week my 2 nieces and my great nephew were able to come for lunch.  It was a very "late" birthday lunch for my niece, Shelby.  They always come for Maccaroni & Cheese.  My niece, Krissy brought her little boy, Izak as well.  He's such a darling little boy.  I took some pictures of him.  The settings on my camera were off a little from experimenting for another challenge but I think this shot of him is cute so I'm sharing it.

5. Finally a photo of my poppy plant as I learned last night how to finally get the color orange to look orange on my camera and not yellow-orange!

That's it for me this week.  Don't forget to stop in and visit Nancy & Tanya's blogs.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Randoms - April 15, 2016

Happy Friday!  - First I want to thank everyone for their,
Concern and Get Well Wishes over the "eye issue" that I had earlier this week.  I'm happy to say that my vision is almost totally back to normal!

Now Let's join Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) and Cath (Cath @ Home) for some Friday Randoms.

1.  We had a hail storm yesterday! - The morning started out pretty decent but by afternoon it had clouded up.  As I was sitting at the computer I heard a noise outside and looked out the window to see that hail was coming down.  I grabbed up the camera and snapped a picture of the hail on the lawn.

2.  I'm participating in 52 Frames and last week the theme was the "Golden Hour" - This is the photo I submitted.  I just loved the lines, colors and textures in this shot of a farmers field.  This week we are doing "Food" as the theme.  I haven't yet figured out what I'm going to do for the challenge but I have an idea.

3. Coleen and I went out for a walk last night (the rain had stopped) and we took my mom's dog Pixie with us.  Can you find her?  No....well you'll have to wait until further down to find her.  These people seriously need to mow!

4.  On the walk I was looking at different trees and happened to see this limb on one of the trees and thought that the peeling bard and bumps on the top of the branch were really interesting.  I hope you do as well.

5.  One more photo from our trip last week to McNary Dam.  These are scale models of Salmon.  They are huge when you see them up close.  We hope to go back in August when the Salmon should be returning up stream to spawn so we can actually see them in the viewing room.

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:

1. Spotted this cute little scene on our walk last night.

2.  This was my (2nd choice) for the Golden Hour but I went with the one of the field.  I still like the sunset here and how it is bathing the valley in golden light.

3.  Where's Pixie?

Here she is!

4. We almost had another cat last night (We don't need anymore cats!!!)

This sweet little thing came out from some one's yard while we were on our walk and wouldn't stop following us.  I ended up taking it back to the yard that it came out of, I tried knocking on their door but no one was home.  The cat started to follow me again but finally gave up and moseyed back the other direction.  Whew!

5.  Redbud blooms.  The trees here in town are spectacular this spring.

FUN FRIDAY FAVORITES:

Since this post is already so long I'm not going to include 5 more photos but I will share just one more Dogwood Photo with you as I simply love how this one turned out.

I told you the trees here were spectacular and I wasn't kidding.

These are all great meme's.  I hope you'll check them out.  Have a great weekend.

It's Willy-Nilly & Random 5 Friday - April 1, 2016

Welcome!

Good News today (no joke) - Nancy (A Rural Journal) is back bloggoing again and hosting Random 5 Friday again!

Plus Tanya (Around Roanoke) still hosts Willy-Nilly Friday 5 so now there will be twice the random fun to enjoy!

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY:

1.  I may have used this quote before but it's a good one and this is a new photo and since Spring is in the air I couldn't resist sharing these lovely spring blooms with you.

2.

Spotted this group of deer again recently.  They hang out in a small brush area near a bunch of homes.  I never tire of taking pictures of them.

3. I love frogs and so for my birthday hubby got me a new wind chime.  Isn't it cute!

4.  Did you ever see this episode of Friends?

Well Greta decided to give our cat, Harley a massage the other day with Drum Sticks
He liked it!

5.  Our town has recently had problems with Wild Turkey's invading neighborhoods and causing damage to vehicles , property and chasing school children.  They rounded a bunch of them up and released them back in the mountains. - We spotted this group in a field outside of town recently.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let's join Tanya for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:
1. Spotted this pretty Hot Air ballon the other day (our sky was cloudless - I added the clouds) - This balloon is The Spirit of Walla Walla balloon.

2.  Another shot of the deer (just because they are so pretty)

3. Some fun yard decor we spotted recently.  Gives you something to do with rocks.

4.
It's Harley again.  He looks so peaceful here but you should have seen him this morning when we took him to the Vet.  He needed a check-up and he was NOT a "happy camper" - In fact they ended up having to sedate him just to give him his shots and exam.

5.  Finally a street scene here in town:

These are buses (they look like trolley cars) that take people around town.  Pretty neat looking.  Walla Walla use to actually have trolley cars here years and years ago. Now a funny little story:

So yesterday I was driving around and noticed something really "odd" about the guy that was in front of me.  -  He had his window down and was waving his hand around out the window and looked like he was bebopping to some tunes.  Nothing to weird about that but then I noticed that he had his wind shield wipers on.  You might think,
What's weird about that? - Well how about the fact that it was 79 degrees outside and the sun was shining!  I'd say that was pretty Weird!

Have a great day & I hope you've enjoyed all these "random" things.

Fill-In Fun, Randoms, Willy-Nilly's & Cats

Friday's are so much fun!  You get to play along with Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) for their memes:

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY 5

Plus I will be sharing as well for (Feline Art, Feline Friday and Follow-Friday for Fill-In Fun.)  Yes it's a lot to take in so hopefully you don't get overwhelmed with everything.  I could do separate posts if it's too much.  Let me know what you all think about including so many memes in one post.

So let's get started:

1.  Last Sunday when we got home from church we discovered that my mom's dog, Pixie had gotten out as the back door hadn't been closed tight enough and the little stinker pulled it open.  The Animal Control Officer had picked her up and left us a note.  Needless to say we were quite bummed out about this, especially my mom.  After doing some calling and pleading we were able to get her dog back.  Let's just say that we got her back on a Sunday by the "Grace of God" and a very kind ACO.  Speaking of dogs.....

You all haven't seen our Pug, Cricket in awhile so here she is.  I wish she wasn't panting all the time so I could get a good picture of her with her mouth closed but I think this one is pretty cute anyway.

2.  Spring is in the air here and boy do I love it.  The flowers are starting to bloom and the trees are leafing and budding out.  Such a pretty time to take a walk especially when you can see this:

 3. Last week I mentioned that we are gearing up for a big concert here come August 13-15.  It's been generating a lot of news around here.  What's funny is now people are starting to complain about the location of the concert.  Home owners are worried about the noise and the crowds walking around the neighborhood, the city planners are trying to figure out traffic control, crowd control etc...  Shouldn't they have thought all that out "Before" booking these groups to play here.

4. This weeks (creepy) neighborhood find.  - A Chinese Dog/Lion? Which is it?  These people have two of these things side by side.  I find them a bit creepy looking.  Speaking of Creepy... What do you all think of Mattel's new Talking Barbie  -  I had one of those Chatty Cathy dolls when I was a kid and remember me & my cousin playing together with our dolls one night when she was staying over, I never thought of it as being creepy but this Barbie I think goes a bit to far.

5.  Wow Easter isn't far off and I was excited yesterday to see that the "Egg Tree" is up again.  I can't remember why this lady puts the eggs on the tree but I think it's really fun and so cute and springlike.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coleen and ""Peaches" another neighborhood cat.  He is so cool and has the weirdest meow, it's like he has laryngitis when he meows.  Sharing with Steve (The Burnt Food Dude) for Feline Friday.

Also sharing this shot of Peaches (below) for Feline Art Friday:

Here is the original:
