Awww Monday - August 8, 2022

It's been awhile since I've joined in for Awww Mondays so I'm joining today (a day late) with a cute little post.

We took Red to the Splash Pad in July and I am finally getting around to sharing a few of the photos I took of her there.

Several years ago I took Coleen when she was about 11 years old and the pad had just opened up.

So now it was time for her little sister to have some fun.  You'll see Coleen here as well.

 Lots of fun for sure.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 9, 2021

Welcome!  Well summer is moving along quickly.  We broke some records in our area for heat recently with a temp of 116.  So far I'm surviving the heat mainly because I stay inside where it's cool.

Anyway time to join Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:

1.  Summer Clouds

2. Purple Bells. - One of the new perennials I bought this year.

3. Munch mouth.  The heat hasn't stopped them from coming to the feeders everyday.

4.  Rock Camp - Coleen participated in the (Rock Camp) last month.  They were unable to hold it last year.  The first year she participated she played drums.  This year she played a Bass Guitar and sang.

5.  Baby Fix

 6. Cat Nap - Caramel & Bandit usually don't sleep together so this was a rare sight.

 7.  My heart bleeds for you (or me).  - Caramel got scared when I tried to pick her up and she cut my hand.  I used a paper towel to wipe the blood and when I looked at the towel I saw this:

That's it for this edition. - Hope you are enjoying your summer. - I ended up getting (Shingles) last week. - I'm doing very well though and healing quickly.  No photo of that though as it's not a pretty sight.

Little Things Thursday - Pumpkin Art

Hello & Welcome. - I thought I would join Tamar (Random-osity) for:

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY

Coleen (my granddaughter) is taking Advanced Art in school this year so as one of her projects she decided to do some sidewalk chalk art.

I didn't get shots of her rough outline before she started but you can see the white chalk marks of the pumpkin outline in this photo.

She continued to color and blend with her fingers and water.
Below is a close-up of how she was blending the chalks.

The finished pumpkin with the wet outline of the shadow.

The completed Pumpkin after the shadow had dried.

A close-up of the stem showing the detail of her work.

Sadly she wasn't able to turn this in due to the fact that she was supposed to follow a prompt of (Architecture) but she could turn it in later for credit.

We had rain later in the week...

The pumpkin begins to run and fade.

As of yesterday all that remains is a faint outline of the pumpkin, the shadow and her hand prints from when she laid them on the sidewalk after blending.

I am thankful for having a wonderful granddaughter, I'm thankful that God gave her such a talent and she loves art.

I'm thankful for the rain (we needed it) even though I was sad to see her art work go.

I'm thankful for cameras that we can capture these special memories.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - September 11, 2020

 Hello & Welcome!

So it's time for another edition of WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  First up:  I've started stamping cards again!  If you want to read about this particular card or check out any of my other cards there is a link at the top of my page that will take you to my stamping blog.

2.This is an "abstract edit of a photo I submitted for 52 Frames.  The original shot is below.  I had fun playing around with it to come up with this edit.

3.  We had a power outage this week on the 7th.  This happened less then a block from where we live.

The tree took down a pole and lines and then split this pole which is right across the street on the corner from where we live.  We were without power for about 5-6 hours.   It happened around 4:30 pm and the power didn't come back until around 10:00 pm.  I usually sleep with a fan and the television running to block out snoring & other noises.  Needless to say I didn't get any sleep until after the power was back on.

4.  Hmm...what's this?  - Well we had a big event happen on Tuesday the 1st of September.  Can you guess what it was?  Check out #5

5.  Our daughter had a baby on the 1st.  Please welcome,

Joelle Marian-Jean Martin to our family.  There will be more pictures of her for sure in later posts.

We think she's pretty special.  So now Coleen is a "Big Sister."

Getting tips from her mom on how to change a diaper!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

First Day of School 2020 - Distance Learning Style

Welcome!

It's that time of year again. Time for "Back to School" photos.

This year is a little different in that we are starting the school year off here doing, Distance Learning.  Poor Coleen is not a fan of on-line school but she's handling it fairly well.

So as a joke since she isn't attending a regular classroom her mom got her some special PJ's for the first day of school.

She's a Parrot! (I thought about saying, "a bird brain" but didn't think that would be very nice.)

So after these photos we took some others dressed in regular clothes.

Finally as is my tradition a "Side-by-side" comparison between 9th grade and 10th grade.

Here's to a successful school year for her.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 19, 2019

Happy Friday!

Joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:
WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

Playing "catch-up" on what's been happening the last 2 months.

1.  Coleen graduated from the 8th Grade in June.  It's hard to believe she will be starting High School in the Fall.  Here is a picture of her before we went to her graduation ceremony.

2.  She was a busy girl as she participated in a week long music camp and performed a number on the drums and sang.  There were 3 other girls who sang in her group number.

3.  During one of my photo outings I caught this shot of a Robin on the Sculpture at the Airport.

4.  On a drive with my mom up to Bennington Lake I thought this field and it's tracks made for an interesting photograph.

5.  Spotted this Pheasant out in a field on yet another drive with my mom.

6.  Getting the "Raspberry" from a deer we spotted on another drive.

7.  The 4th of July was nice.  We didn't go anywhere but made a great dinner that we ate at home and then went to watch the Fireworks.  Coleen loves to do Face Painting and Body art so she did herself up to celebrate the holiday.

8.  My photo that I took for 52 Frames (Edited by someone else) This was my edit:

and this was the edit that my partner did:

9.  I've been working a lot in the flower beds, weeding, watering etc...
This is a Rudbekia plant that I bought this year.  I think it's gorgeous.

That's it for me today.  Hope you all have enjoyed the photos and have a super great weekend.

First Day of School

It's back to school once again.  Where did summer go?

As is my tradition here are Coleen's back to school photos.

She wasn't in the "mood" for pictures and was rushing to get ready so they aren't the greatest and the sun was in her eyes.  I need to find a different spot for the photos.

The hands are showing that she's going into 8th Grade.  Yep it's her last year in Middle School.  Time flies by so quickly.

Here is the Collage of 6th, 7th & 8th grade shots.

She wanted shorter hair this year.
