Good Fences#47 and Photo Art

Welcome!  -  Gosh it seems like I just can't seem to get caught up visiting all your blogs and I apologize for not commenting as often as I'd like to.  Just know I so enjoy all your blogs and the fact you stop by mine as well.

So let's joining in on the fun of GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa from, The Run-a round Ranch Report.)

Last week we had a bout an hour where the sun actually came out and I took advantage by taking a little walk around the neighborhood.  I knew there was this neat looking wall/fence that I wanted to photograph so that's where I went.

This is what it is made out of.  Concrete Blocks.

Here is part of it.

Looking down the full length of the fence towards the street.  I too this shot from the alley.  YOu can see how muddy it was due to all the rain we'd had.

The best part of the fence though was what I found at the end where it connected with a little storage shed.........

I thought the gate was super cool looking.  What do you think?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now for some digital art.

Joining in with NAF this week where the optional theme was birds.

I chose to use a photo of Pelican's taken last summer.  I edited the photo using the Posterize feature on PicMonkey

 Original below:
I cropped the photo first and then used the Posterize feature and also bit of color adjustment, added sunlight and the Urbane look from PicMonkey to get the finished piece.  I rather like how it turned out.

Also joining Cherie from The Froelich Diaries again for her new photo art meme (Photo Art Thursday).  Please stop by her blog and view her work.  It's pretty awesome.  I'm not really versed in using layers and such so my piece is nothing that fancy but it was fun.

This is the original photo.  Coleen and I spotted this bottle tree and a few other interesting things in a yard recently so I stopped and snapped some photos.

Next up I played around with the photo and got this version:

Finally after playing some more I ended up with this:

It totally changed the look of the original for sure.  I hope you have enjoyed the Good Fences and the Photo Art.  Have a great day.

Willy Nilly Friday 5 and some cat art

Hi and Happy Friday.

It's time to join Tanya from (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

 1. It's a balmy day here today with the temperature being 67 outside. I woke up this morning and discovered our van was covered in a film of dust from the wind last night and then the dampness from our rains just caked it on.  That thing needs to go to the Car Wash!  More rain is on the way though so it should wash it all off.

Last week one morning I discovered frosty looking feathers on the van windshield.  I took this photo inside the van and you can just see the outline of the brown fence behind where I park.

2.  Our Postmaster is (nuts).  He wants to change mail delivery to a centralized location where we'd all have to have boxes somewhere down the street and walk to them to get out mail.  Of course he can't do this without our permission and believe me I will say NO WAY if it comes to that.  In the meantime they are trying to raise funds to renovate the Post Office,  I don't think that this news is going to gain them many supporters.

This is a photo I took last fall of our Post Office.

3.  Our state is (nuts).  There was an article in the paper the other night about wanting to do away with Daylight Savings time.  You can read about it here:  Personally I like Daylight Savings time myself.  I enjoy the day being longer in the summer and quite frankly I don't have any problem with the sleeping thing that they seem so concerned about.  Any thoughts on this?
This has nothing to do with daylight savings but as I was out walking a little yesterday I happened to spot this mossy area in the alley I was walking through and thought it looked pretty and refreshing.

4.  The sun was out for about an hour yesterday!  I was trying to take a nap (shhhh I know, naps are for "old" people) when I noticed the sun so I got up and grabbed the camera and went for a little walk.  I spied this creepy little fellow in a small flower bed and snapped it's picture.

I also spotted these guys in a little creek nearby.

5.  Yesterday Coleen and I stopped by the local Humane Society to look at the cats they have there.  We spent about an hour there playing with the cats and the one kitten they had.  I learned that they are now a "no-kill" shelter which made me quite happy.  I would have loved to have brought a couple of the cats home with me but with 6 of our own already I had to just enjoy petting the kitties there and then going home.

Joining in for FELINE ART here with this watercolor version of the photo I used in yesterday's post.  You can view the original photo of Snickers there.

Below is the piece I used this same photo on in yesterdays post.  I thought it was worth including here today as well.

Have a Great Weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Good Fences and Photo Art - Feb. 5, 2015

Hello & Welcome.

Won't you join me for some fun with Good Fences and then some Photo Art.

First up let's join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for
GOOD FENCES.

I spotted this rather interesting gate last fall while driving around.  This house had a "For Sale" sign on it.  I didn't go up to look inside but just took this photo from the sidewalk.  It sort of reminded me of a medieval castle entrance for some reason.

Next to the house was the garage and wouldn't you know, it had the same sort of gate like entrance.

So do you think you'd want to live here?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next up I'm joining Cherie (The Froelich Diaries) and NF BildVerkstad for some Photo Art Fun.  Just click on the links and you'll be taken to their blogs.

I played around with trees again this week.  I'll include starting photos so you can see where my process went as I played around.

Be sure to click to enlarge the photos.  This was my starting point.  A shot of some trees across the street the other night when we had about 5 minutes of sunlight.

I came up with this version which I call,  Fiery Trees

Next up I decided to do a more "wintery" look so I came up with this version.

This one I combined 2 photos. The original trees and this photo:

Rain droplets on tree branches.  I gave it an edit so that the droplets look a bit like "bokeh" which is the theme for NF Digital Art Meme this week.

Still playing around I added a photo of our cat Snickers to the tree image:

I also adjust the color levels and such and came up with this version:

I used Pic Monkey and BeFunky again to edit all of these pieces of Art Work.

I hope you have enjoyed your stay here.  Don't forget to visit the Memes linked above.

Good Fences, Good Art

Howdy! - Before I get started with today's post I'd like to thank everyone who sent get well wishes.  I've been battling a case of Bronchitis this past week along with taking care of my mom who also had Bronchitis and nursing my Granddaughter, Coleen who ended up with the flu and was home all last week.  Let's just say it was not an easy week but things are slowly returning to normal.  It meant a lot to know you cared.

So now let's join in on some fun with Good Fences and a new photo art Meme called, Photo Art Thursday.  I've combined the two of them today with my photos.

GOOD FENCES is hosted by Theresa from (The Run-a-round Ranch Report)   and PHOTO ART THURSDAY is hosted by Cherie from (The Froelich Diaries).

First up I spotted this stone wall/fence and trees while out driving one day.  I just liked the way the trees looked that day and decided to snap a photo.  The next 2 shots show the same scene jazzed up a little and then turned into some photo art.

I played around using 3 different photo editing sites to come up with the final photo. Pic Monkey, Pixlr-o-Matic and BeFunky were all used here to create the final scene.

Now one more before we go because it's just so much fun to create photo art .

Another Fence scene that I spotted on this same drive around town.

I found the stump of the tree inside the fence to be interesting and of course the weathered look of the fence as well.  So here is the "artistic" version of this scene.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the fences in real life and in photo art.  Do stop by both Theresa and Cherie's blogs to check out the other participants.
Cherie's is a new meme so be sure to spread the word so more people will join in on the fun.
