Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week. The summer is quickly winding down and soon it will be time for kids to head back to school. Coleen wrapped up her swimming lessons this week and while it continues to be quite hot outside we are doing well and enjoying the remainder of the summer weather while it lasts.
This week Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) gave us the optional theme of: Gifts.
I thought a lot about this and what I wanted to do through out the week. Nothing was coming together like I wanted it too and then I had an idea and before I knew it my piece/s came together.
I don't know how "Spiritual" you may or may not be but both of my pieces today are more on the religious note and are quite personal to me. I do not intend for them to (offend) anyone nor am I suggesting that your beliefs need be the same as mine. Instead I am just sharing something that means a lot to me and I hope you enjoy the process of how these came about.
For this piece I used a photo of some clouds and then a photo of a cross off of a local church just down the street from where we live. I added some texture and frames to it along with the Scripture Verse. I am so thankful that God gave me the Gift of being able to use my art and photography to share with others.
Photo's used in this piece:
This was cropped to leave out the buildings in the scene.
I also cropped the cross photo below and used various techniques on Pic Monkey on both photo's until I had them the way I wanted and then I over layed the 2 photo's together. I used textures already on Pic Monkey for this piece.
Next up is a piece called the Fruits of the Spirit. - This one is more on Gifts (or Fruits) from the Spirit to us. I also think regardless of spiritual believes that each of the fruits/gifts listed can indeed be a gift that we each can possess in our lives.
I was actually able to use the Gimp program on this piece to alter some of my photo's and create a unique piece that is different from what I normally share.
For this piece I used the following photo's:
Both of these photo's were rotated and the color was obviously changed. I also cropped the photo of the leaves leaving out the right side of the photo in the cropped version.
I used a texture from RH West called, Shake. This was my first time doing any of this using the Gimp program and I was thrilled that I was able to figure this out. After I had everything together I uploaded the photo on Pic Monkey and added the text and the frame.
That's it for this weeks edition. I hope you'll pop on over to Bonnie's blog and check out all the wonderful photo art just waiting there for your pleasure and enjoyment.
Have a great weekend.

both pieces are beautiful Ida ...
ReplyDeleteyou have a 'gift'!
Wonderful photos and how you put them together was really helpful. I will have to check out the Gimp program you refer to.
ReplyDeleteI think, too, you are very thoughtful and that sharing what is in your heart and moves your spirit is always going to BE right for you.
I think often of a line I heard Barbra Streisand say on one of her concert CDs about all of us BEing equal "but definitely NOT the same." This is how I take Life and the BEautiful souls in it. I cherish our differences and I deLIGHT in the amazing things I learn from this.
Thanks so much for sharing from your heart.
Ida, I love your processing on both your photos and don't take offense at all - the quotes are beautiful and uplifting! Thanks for sharing them and I hope you're having a great weekend. :)
