Photo Art Friday - Collages

It's time to join Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) for her monthly Meme:  Photo Art Friday.  This months theme was: Collage.

I wish I had Photo Shop or another program in which to make up different types of collages but I don't so I'm going with a pretty simple collage look that I put together on Pic Monkey.



The 1st piece is a basic collage of some blooming trees that I've take around town lately.

Then I took 3 of the photos from this collage and added 3 of Bonnie's Textures to them and made a separate collage.  This is the one I will be featuring for the Voting.

Photo Art Friday

Welcome to the April Edition of Photo Art Friday hosted by Bonnie, (Pixel Dust Photo Art). 

The optional theme this month was "Quirky Selfie's".
Let me just say up front that I am rarely in photographs because I'm usually behind the camera.  Plus I am so NOT photogenic at all.  I struggled a lot with even doing this month's theme at all.  It's just so out of my comfort zone.

So tonight I took a selfie in my craft room which really didn't turn out all that great.  Then I fiddled around with the photo on BeFunky & PicMonkey and finally came up with the piece below.  I guess you can say it qualifies as "quirky"!

The cat is a neighbor's cat.  His name is Eric and he's over here everyday now because the "Crazy Cat Lady" made the mistake of leaving him food even though he's well fed and now he expects me to put food out for him every day.  Call me,  "crazy" but I'm happy to oblige him.

Photo Art Friday - Abstract Flowers

I did a couple of other's as well which I'll share but since we are voting on people's favorites.  This is the one that you'll be voting on.

   The Original photo is below:

For my abstract version I used Bonnie's texture:  (Splash of Gold) twice, moving it over the 2nd time I added it.  I also used some special effects from Pic Monkey and a Frame from Pixlr-o-matic.


Here are my others:

Added Bonnie's texture (Fanciful) in Screen mode to the original photo, erasing most of it off the flowers.  Then used the Posterize feature on Pic Monkey and also the Orton effect to get this final version.

Photo Art Friday - February 7, 2014

Welcome! - It's time to join Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) for Photo Art Friday. - I missed January's edition so I don't want to miss this months. 

The theme for this month is:  Graphic/Geometric/Angular.

Here is what I came up with.  Click to Enlarge - Original Photo's will follow the edited piece.

                                                "Space Rocket"

This is actually a metal sculpture on the Whitman College Campus titled:
(Angkor IV, 1995, Lee Kelly.) -  It reminded me of a rocket so I went with some edits from  Pic Monkey to give it an "outer space" feel.

                                              "Space Landing"

This one is actually really titled, (Pirouette, 2004, Micajah Bienvenu '86.)
Again edited in Pic Monkey with various techniques.

 Finally something a little less space minded. 

One of the buildings on the campus.  I used Bonnie's texture: Palazzo and then added a Cloud texture from Pic Monkey and a few other effects.

Embracing Random 5 Friday and Photo Art Friday - November 1, 2013

Welcome! - Can you believe it's November 1st!  Wow time is flying by quickly. -  Thanks for stopping by today. 

It's time to join in with Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) for Photo Art Friday and also Nancy (A Rural Journal) for Random 5 Friday.

The theme for this month's Photo Art was,  Embrace:
I had a couple of things in mind for this and went with two different photo's of sculpture's around town that have some kind of an "embrace" in them.

The first is titled:  Mother and Child and sits at the Carnegie Art Center in Walla Walla. - I find it to be a rather "odd" looking sculpture.  It depicts a Mother embracing her child but for the life of me I really don't see that in the sculpture.  What do you think?  I added some lyrics from Simon & Garfunkel's,  Mother and Child Reunion and used Bonnies newest texture,
Aged Vignette and some effects from Pic Monkey.

Which leads me to Random Thought #1 -  We have some "Weird" art work here in Walla Walla.  If this doesn't prove it perhaps you'll believe me when you see the one below.

This is the back side of a sculpture called, Large Covered Wagon which sits in Pioneer Park.  These two siblings seem to be (embracing) each other in a rather strange way.  Again the same texture as the 1st photo was used and some Pic Monkey effects as well.

Random Thought #2 - I bought "Way to Much" Halloween candy.  We only had 25 kids show up and I've got enough candy left over to last us for the next couple of months.  I miss the old days when you got lots of Trick-or-Treaters coming to your door.  I think it's fun seeing the kids all dressed up in their costumes.

This was one of the kids Trick-or-Treating downtown yesterday.  She let me take her picture (with her mom's permission).  She's a Lollypop Princess.

Random Thought #3 - Halloween isn't just for kids.  The parents taking the kids out downtown really go all out with costumes.  Here are a couple of my favorite's from yesterday.

  I just had to take his picture.  So why is his kid dressed as a Dragon?

Random Thought #4 - Carving pumpkins is hard work but not nearly as hard as getting a decent picture of them was. -  I actually didn't do any of the carving of the pumpkins this year.  My hands were hurting from trimming my rose bushes earlier in the day.  Hubby & Greta did most of the carving.  For some reason I could not get my camera to take a decent picture without blurring this year.  This is the best one I got.

Random Thought #5 -  Sad as it is another Halloween has come and gone and now it's time to move on to Turkey Day!  One last parting shot of Halloween....

I have no clue who any of the people in my photo's today are but they were more then happy to let me snap their photo's.  Although this guy looks a little glum.  Perhaps he ate to much candy!

I started with this original photo of a lone seagull that I took on the beach at my niece's wedding a couple of weekends ago.  This is SOOC and then there will follow some altered versions of the same photo.  I had FUN with this.  -  Click to Enlarge Photo's.

I added an overlay photo of some clouds that I took a picture of this morning and then added one of Bonnie's textures, the quote and the frame.

Photo Art Friday - Cosmic Flower

It's Friday and time once again to join Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) for the long awaited Photo Art Friday - Flower Art Edition. 

 

I worked on this piece several weeks ago when I knew what the theme was going to be.

This is a tall zinnia from my flowers this year.  I used one of Bonnie's textures (I'm not sure which one now though :o(    I should write them down as I go) and then added a picture of some clouds I took and edited in Pic Monkey to look like a water color painting.  I also used several special effects off of PM to add the twinkling stars and the rays of light.

A little "Dreamy" and a little "Orange"

First up for Orange You Glad It's Friday:

This is one of my favorite roses.  It's called, Tropical Sunset and has wonderful variegated petals that range from yellow, orange and red tones. I forgot to write down the texture that I used but I believe it is one from Nancy at A Rural Journal.

Next up on Photo Art Friday the theme this time is:  Dreamy or Ethereal.

This is a photo of one of my Clematis plants with textures added and some special effects courtesy of Pic Monkey.  I added a quote as well.  I love how this turned out.

Photo Art Friday - April 12, 2013

Hi,  I'm a little "late" getting my post up for Photo Art Friday but it's still Friday here so I guess I'm really not late at all!

This weeks theme was Light/Shadow.  I'm sharing a couple of pictures today.




First up:

I took this shot of Piglet the other day and really liked how the light was shining on just one half of his face.  I added a texture from Nancy Claeys ( A Rural Journal) I like how it added a softness to the photo.

Next up is a picture I took of Dottie last Summer for SHS (Scavenger Hunt Sunday) when the prompt was Shadow.  I left this as is but added a photo corner frame.

Photo Art Friday - April 5, 2013

Welcome! - I hope you'll join me on an Artistic journey of awesome photo art.  It's time once again to join Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art) for Photo Art Friday.  The optional theme this week is,  "Collage." -  I hadn't planned to join in this week since it's spring break and Coleen has been home all week.  I didn't figure I'd have time to put together a decent collage piece of photo art so I planned to skip this week.

This afternoon after coming home from taking Coleen to see (The Croods - fun, fun movie) I was inspired to create a piece after all.  Mind you my piece has nothing to do with the movie at all.

A picture of my white Bleeding Heart plant that is just starting to bloom.

The garden fairy statue that I've used before.  This time I cropped the photo a little and then used the Cartoonizer feature on Be Funky to get this:

There were a lot of different steps I took after this.  First I added a layer of Bonnie's texture (Chinks of Light) just on the photo of the flowers and erased the texture off the blooms.  Next up I added the cartoonized fairy photo as an Overlay texture.  I fiddled around with various effects on Pic Monkey including the Orton effect and added another layer of Chinks of Light, a layer of Bonnie's, (Fine Art) texture but erased most of it leaving just a portion of the texture.
I also added some lighting effects from Pic Monkey creating the little stars on the final piece you'll see below along with a quote.  This I think is one of my favorite pieces of photo art that I've ever done.  I hope you like it too.

Photo Art Friday - March 29, 2013

Hi!  Welcome and by now you know that it's Friday and time to join in on the awesomeness known as, Photo Art Friday over on Bonnie's blog, Pixel Dust Photo Art.
This week virtual art gallery theme was:  Graffiti.  Now I had big plans to try and be creative with this them but alas time got away from me and it just didn't happen.  I still have a piece it's just not what I had in visioned in my head.

One day while I was walking around downtown I spotted these 2 doors on a building and thought they were rather interesting.  Apparently people thought they were to be used for their own personal "Graffiti".  If you look closely in the upper left corner of the left door someone scrawled:  I'm not dead. I was born today.  Act Alone.

I put the two photos side by side (sorry about the angle of the door on the right)  -  These doors were in a really weird place and it was hard to get decent photographs of them.  They are actually both about the color of the one on the right.  I did add Bonnie's texture (Cinnamon) to give them a richer/warmer feel. and also a little of the Urbane effect on Pic Monkey.

Photo Art Friday - March 22, 2013

Hello!  It's time once again for Photo Art Friday where you'll find a virtual gallery of awesomeness over on Bonnie's blog, Pixel Dust Photo Art.  This weeks theme was,
"Self-Portrait"...I must say this is not something I'm generally comfortable doing since I think I take lousy photo's. Bonnie said to have fun with it and after peeking at her blog she certainly had fun with the theme.  I'm afraid I wasn't that inventive. 

Wednesday was my birthday so it's been a busy week for me and I didn't have much time to play around with photos.  I did however use my tri-pod again and took some pictures and I'm happy with the end result.  I think it really shows a big part of who I am as a person.  They don't call me the "Crazy Cat Lady" for nothing you know!

I used a technique on BeFunky called, Underpainting on the photo first then went back to Pic Monkey and added the texture and frames.  Pretty simple editing but the result was pleasing.  I hope you like it.

Photo Art Friday - March 15, 2013

Welcome to Photo Art Friday ! - Here you will find many wonderful pieces of photo art.  Bonnie offered up the "optional" theme of Portrait this week. 

Here are my contributions:  These 1st two pieces are photo portraits of our neighbors cat, Helix.  For this one I used a great texture that I found here:  Lenebem-Anna has lots of very cool looking (Free) textures you can use for your photos. I added the photo frame in Pic Monkey.

Finally a piece that I played around with (a lot).  Do you think it's a bit much?

I started with a photo of Coleen and the Clown at the Kid's Rodeo that the communtiy college put on last week.  Then I added Bonnie's texture: Vintage Vellum and then a layer of a Weave texture from Pic Monkey that resembled Denim jeans.  I added a frame that I found and inverted the color to white and then erased out areas over their faces etc... to get the end result.
