It's been a super busy week (not much time for blogging) but I wanted to join Jesh (St Germain's) for SEASONS
Spring blooms abound around here right now.
I bought this lilac bush for my mom several years ago. It's called a Bloomerang or maybe Boomerang Lilac. It's a compact bush with small flowers that bloom twic a year. This spring it's had an abundance of blooms. I've only shown one stem here but the entire bush was loaded with those pretty pink blooms.
Sadly her French Lilac did not fair the winter very well and had very few blooms this year.
My Azalea's have been wonderful. I love this White/Yellow one. It's just so cheery and pretty.
I also love Snowball bushes, though I don't actually have any of my own. This is from a nearby neighbors bush.
We've also had Ducklings visit this month.
This is mama duck and her 4 ducklings. The lady across the street said she started out with 11 babies but by this day was down to only 4 left.
I took some pictures and really liked this one:
Sadly today mama duck was down to just 1 baby duckling. To many outside cats in the neighborhood.
That's a small look at the season of spring from my part of the world. Do stop by and check out the other Season entries.
those ducklings were so sweet. ours are decimated by hawks, we have many hawks.. the lilac is lovely and the snow balls to... and i have not heard of the boomerang bush
ReplyDeleteThank You Ida for blessing us with your wonderful nature photos
ReplyDeleteOooh, those little ducklings are just precious! Though I am sad to learn the mama duck is down to only one baby.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely, my friend. Enjoy your week. Hugs!
adorable ducklings! lovely lilacs!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved lilacs. I've planted several bushes over the years but can never get them to grow. They've all ended up dead.
ReplyDeleteThose ducklings are so cute
Thank you for efforts to keep being a part of SEASONS! It's greatly appreciated, and I know in the long run it will help you getting back to your own things!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen white/yellow azaleas - Beautiful, Ida! And the ducklings are so darling! Sorry your mother is not doing well. Keep in good spirits, and take your time to relax too:):)
Hello Ida....I really love your photo's today....more pretty plants that I want to add to my garden wish list....Lilacs were my Grandmothers favourite flowers! I have never seen those Azaleas....wonder if they are available here in Australia! Love the ducklings....we used to keep an eye on the ones near where we lived and they did start off with a huge number that dwindled down to 2 or 3....you took a fabulous photo of them.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!
ReplyDeleteOhhh....I love your last photo of the precious baby ducklings. Too bad some have been killed by cats.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to see all this beauty and to capture it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post, Ida! The lilac and azalea blooms are indeed wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the ducklings are really beautiful. It's sad to hear their number went so much down. (We see that happening sometimes too - their worse enemy here is perhaps the American mink.)
Thank you for sharing these great photos! Wishing you a happy day!
Hello Ida, your flowers and blossoms are pretty. I love the cute ducklings, adorable photos.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy day!
There is so much beauty in this post! Love the beautiful blossoms and the adorable little ducklings! Selfishly, most of all, I'm thankful I'm enjoying the same beauty here. Spring has finally arrived, and I am loving the warm weather we've enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteLove the little ducklings....great photos.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous, and the ducklings so sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove the lilacs. Mine are beginning to bloom now. Your picture of the little ducklings is sweet. Oh dear, poor mama duck!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
Ida, this is a delightful series of photos. You are a wonderful photographer. I love the flowers and the duck family is precious.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how the ducklings would fare with all the cats in the neighborhood. The sun is hitting that one duckling in the center perfectly. The boomerang lilac is the only kind that can grow where I live-too hot for the french ones.
ReplyDeleteOh Ida I love the ducklings and I hope the four remaining ones do well. It's a hard life right from the beginning for birds! And your lilacs make me so homesick. (I'm sure I've told you before and you are probably sick of hearing about it -- we don't see Spring flowers -- the normal kind -- here in SW Florida. I haven't seen a lilac in bloom in years. Wonderufl memories.
ReplyDeleteOh those little ducklings are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI love lilacs and have 4 of them in my back yard but too early here yet for them to bloom, but I'm looking forward to when they do.
Always such a delight to see what you have in bloom! Also, helps me realize what we should be soon enjoying in our own yard.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the ducklings. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. 7 ducklings survived one day. That evening they were all gone. Thinking of putting some type of fencing around in the evening if I ever see that again. Would have to keep the mom in, not sure how that would work!
ReplyDeleteIda, these are such wonderful photos. Those baby ducklings are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe ducklings are just dear and I love the first lilac.
ReplyDeleteSad for the ducklings. They are very cute.
ReplyDeleteThose little ducklings precious!!!! Your pictures are perfect for the spring season.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful photos, but ended on such a sad note. My heart took a dive.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful! I cannot wait for my lilac bushes to bloom. My spring favourite.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, poor little duckies! Shame on those cat owners - you're not allowed to let your cat roam free around here. Our cat goes out on a lead line, but we still put a bell on his collar so that he cannot sneak up on any other critters. It's not like he's not well fed - so he doesn't need to hunt like a stray cat would. Poor mama :(
Wonderful images! I especially love the snowball blooms and ducklings!
ReplyDeletethat last image is precious and so well focused!!! not many ducklings survive around here either, too many hawks, eagles and large birds of prey!!! the blooms are beautiful, i don't think i have ever seen an azalea that color!!!
