Willy Nilly Friday Five and a Tribute

Welcome!

Well it's another "New Year" and I hope to be able to blog more this year and visit blogs more (no guarantees though).  Most of you know that my mom has Dementia now and looking after her can sometimes really cut into my personal time so if I'm not on the computer much you'll know why.

Anyway today I'm joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  This Hawk has been hanging around a lot this winter.

2.  Spotted this little Tire Snowman Family and had to get a picture

 3.  Christmas Breakfast - Yum!

 4.  Party Girls on New Years Eve

 5.  Frost on the table that our Christmas train sat on.

 6.  Bonus Cuteness:  Speedy G relaxing on the bed.

Today marks the anniversary of my dad's passing 21 years ago.

He was such a fun dad.  This is him and his little dog Rosie, who has been gone now for about 18 years.

I miss him still although the pain has lessened over the years to where it doesn't hurt quite as much and I know he's in a much better place.

Flowers for his grave today.

Love you always Dad.

Friday Fun - Sept. 22, 2017

Welcome!

Today is the "official" First Day of Autumn (Fall) here in the US.
One of my all time favorite seasons and it has been a beautiful day here.

So today I'm joining Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

I went to Rooks Park today to take some pictures and I'm sharing some of the photos I took while I was there.

1.  I spotted a large bird flying in the air as I was walking through the park.  I managed to get a shot of the bird in flight but I'm saving that for another post. (I know rats....) - Anyway the bird landed in a tree and I was able to get some shots of it.

This is as close as I could get with the lens that I had on the camera.  The bird is some type of a hawk I believe. - Edited to add,  I now believe this bird is an Osprey rather than a Hawk.  Any birders out there to help with identification let me know.

  - Later on in this post you'll see another picture of this bird.

2.  A sign that Autumn is in the air...

3.  Just a pretty shot of the clouds and one of the trails in the park.

4.  A photo of some Queen Anne's lace in bloom. - What caught my eye was the tiny hint of "lavender" in the center of the bloom.  - That's a bit unusual.

5.  On the way out I noticed these little rock cairn formations.

6. Okay for my bonus photo...I caught another shot of the hawk in flight and after I uploaded it to the computer I noticed something cool in the shot.

Be sure to enlarge the photo for better detail.

Do you see it? - The bird has a fish in it's talons!  My first ever capture of a bird with a fish.

Also joining in on FRIENDLY FILL-INS on McGuffy's Reader.

Random 5 Friday

Happy Friday!

It's time to join in on the fun of RANDOM 5 FRIDAY  hosted by Nancy from (A Rural Journal).  Every Friday you can post 5 Random thoughts about whatever you want.  It's loads of fun so be sure to stop by and check out the randomness.

1.  Look who showed back up! -  This guy hung out in the tree or on the shed by our feeder for better then half the day.  I wonder if he ever got something to eat.

2.  The dentist finally called late Wednesday night (exactly 2 weeks after my appointment) with the test results.  What's weird is that he didn't say I have "good news" for you.  Instead he tells me the results say I have a...
Pyogenic Granuloma on my gums.  Also commonly referred to as a Pregnancy Tumor.  WHAT????? - So I ask is it cancerous.  He said no, they are generally benign and can be treated.  Long story short, I have to go back next week for another evaluation to see if he should cut out any more of the spot.  I'm just relieved it wasn't the (C) word.

3.  What's up with the weather.  Check this out...

      Forecast for Walla Walla, WA
  • 44° 20° -7° Today
  • 20° 17° -7° -8° Tomorrow
  • 33° 30° -1° Sunday
  • 46° 32° Monday
  • 52° 41° 11° Tuesday
It's supposed to get up to 44 today and then only 20 tomorrow...huh?  I want SPRING!!!

                                                  "Let's play get that tail."

4.  This "Bachelor" season has been one of the worst ever.  First Juan Pablo does nothing for me at all.  Can't understand why the women think he's so sexy.  To each their own I guess.  Second, his accent makes understanding him nearly impossible.  Third....he's way to into himself (jmho) but apparently some of the women on the show feel the same way.  Yes, it's a dumb show but call me a hopeless romantic as I always root for them to actually fall in love.

5.  Men are strange...Hubby got a new laptop but has no clue how to use the thing and expects me to show him.  Well the laptop is way different from my computer and let's just say we've had a few tense moments since he got it trying to show him how to maneuver around the darn thing.  You've got to love him though especially when he does this...

That's it for this week.  I hope you've enjoyed your stay.

Random 5 Friday

It's Friday!!! - Hopefully for those of you who live in areas where the (Polar Vortex) took place you've warmed up a bit.

Are you ready for some "randomness"?

Yes,  Well then let's join Nancy (A Rural Journal) and have some fun with Random 5 Friday!

1.  On Monday I took my mom out to look for a new recliner chair.  Which she found but of course they had to order so it's not here yet.  -  But that's not really what I wanted to talk about.  -  On the way home we spotted a hawk and I just happened to have my camera with me.  I've been dying to see if I could get a decent picture of one with my new lens.

This isn't the best of shots because my camera settings weren't on what they should have been so I had to work with this photo a little to get it to look halfway decent but I like it.

2.  It snowed here on Tuesday evening.  - Nope I didn't take any photo's.  Besides people are probably getting tired of snow photos by now and let's face it 1 inch of snow that melted by the end of the next day is not something to get to excited about.

3.  I had a Root Canal done yesterday.  Oh goodie! - I hate going to the dentist and am always a nervous wreck until it's over and done with.  My mouth hurts today and my gums look like they've been ran over by a Mack truck but I survived and if it get's rid of the problem with the sore on my gums then it will be worth it.

4.  Hey the bull-riding I mentioned last week went great.  My favorite cowboy (Mike Lee)  finished in 5th place  in the event, which isn't bad for a guy that's 30 now and one of the "older" cowboys competing still.  What a tough sport that is.  There is one guy (Pistol Robinson) who just came back after a year off due to breaking both of his legs at an event.  Talk about loving what you do, to come back after that and keep on riding, truly amazing.

5.  Well tonight is the long awaited Piano Recital for Coleen.  For those who weren't aware the one that was scheduled for Dec. 20th was cancelled due to bad weather that night.  She's excited though about finally getting the chance to play her pieces.  -  I'll post pictures for sure.

That's it for this week.  - I included my very first "decent" picture of the moon for you this week, a random shot of some leaves and seed pods, and a random photo (see below) taken last November and never shown on the blog of a farmer's field with the sun shining on it.
