Winter arrived today

Hello and Welcome. - Gosh it's already the 12th of January and I've only posted once this year so far.  -  Life tends to get in the way sometimes and I don't get around to blogging as often as I'd like.

So far this year I've been busy with taking down the inside Christmas decorations (which is a big job), helping a little to take down the outside decorations (another big job).  I've also done other work around the house which was neglected through the holiday season.

It hasn't all been work though as I've bowled a couple of times already this year on the Tuesday morning league.  In fact I did great this past week averaging out for the 3 games at a 162!  I also spent a lovely afternoon playing Bunco with a great group of ladies and even took 3rd place winning a few $$ and just having a great time.

Our weather has been awesome for the most part with no snow at all in December.  We had a tiny skiff a few days ago that was gone by the next morning.  Last night though we got this:

I cleared the walks off this morning with a "leaf blower"!  Lots of fun and since it was powdery snow easy to do.  Temperature is cold as the high today was only expected to be 15.

For those of you who know me well you know I  (don't do winter, well) but I'm trying to think positive and that in only about 6 weeks it should be a whole lot nicer outside.  Each day is one day closer to spring!

Hope where ever you are you are staying, safe, warm, dry & enjoying life.

Good Fences and Little Things Thursday

Welcome! - Hope you are having a good day.  I've been sick all week with that horrible cough where you feel like your guts are going to be ripped out of your chest every time you cough.  I've chugged down a ton of Tea with Lemon & Honey in it and am slowly returning to normal.

So today I'm joining Gosie (Looking for Identity) and Tamar (Randomosity) for:

GOOD FENCES AROUND THE WORLD - and

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY.

First up for Good Fences:  I offer two different seasons (Fall & Winter)

Spotted these gorgeous fall trees and a rock wall last fall and realized I hadn't shared them yet.

I love the bright cheery colors here.  Perfect to help ease up "winter blahs" for those of us still suffering through the woes of winter.

Speaking of those "woes of winter" here is what happened January 31st here in my neck of the woods.

Yep more snow (about 3-5 inches)...believe me I am so ready for winter to be over.  However I did think it looked pretty as I lay in bed watching it come down outside.

So now for Little Things Thursday.  -  I've been thinking lately about how our actions, thoughts & words can make a difference in the way people view the world.  So much (negativity) is about today.  People are rioting, protesting, complaining etc....and quite frankly it's just getting tiring.  So I thought why not try to be more postitive.  Why not try to find good in the world and encourage each other.  Regardless of who won the election, or your beliefs about race, religion, politics etc....there are still good things to be thankful and grateful for in the world.

So my thought today is to offer you encouragement that the world is still a beautiful place and that we must do our part to build each other up and not tear each other down.   It's a "little thing" that can mean a great deal to someone else.

Good Fences #89 - Snow much fun!

Welcome:  - I am still hoping to catch up with everyone's post from last week.  We had surprise company over the Thanksgiving holiday, put up our Christmas lights, I helped my mom decorate her house all day on Friday and by Sunday I was quite rundown and spent the day in bed. I am still trying hard to get by everyone's blogs so please be patient.

Joining GOOD FENCES today.  Be sure to stop by Theresa's blog, (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) and check out all the other particpants.

Well "Winter" arrived here a little early this year.  We had snow before Thanksgiving and then it snowed again on Tuesday night.  School was delayed 2 hours yesterday and canceled today due to icy road conditions.  Yesterday after I walked Coleen to school I took a short walk in the snow and captured some snowy fence scenes to share today.

Everyone knows I'm not a fan of winter or snow but I'm trying to find beauty in it so that's why I'm sharing these Snowy Fences today.  Enjoy!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - February 9, 2014

Welcome! - I've taken a couple of weeks off from Scavenger Hunt Sunday for various reasons but this week I decided it was time to get back in the hunt.

This weeks prompts:  Looking Up, Light, Favorite Mobile Device, Outside and Inside.

Let's just say this week has been nothing but snow, snow & more snow for so many people and here in "Wally World" we finally got hit with it.  I started out trying hard to embrace the beauty of the snow but by the end of the week I'm not trying to just "endure" through it.

Having fallen on some ice today and landing rather soundly on my behind I've got quite the sore bum so sitting is limited.  Hopefully I'll make it around to comment on your blogs.

Let's get started.  Please join me and Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.

LOOKING UP:

While out taking pictures this week I heard the unmistakable sound of geese flying overhead.  I looked up and snapped this shot as they passed over head.

LIGHT:  There hasn't been much sun light this past week but it was out for a few minutes and I caught a hint of it shining on our storage shed roof.

FAVORITE MOBILE DEVICE:  Okay I planned to skip this one since I don't own a fancy phone, ipod, etc...and then I snapped a photo from inside my craft room that I thought fit quite well.  I bet all over the country this machine has been a lot of people's favorite mobile device....

A snow plow doing what it does best, removing that white stuff to help make driving easier.

OUTSIDE:  Another photo shot from inside looking outside...

Callie-Jo was quite content to be inside on this cold day watching the crows outside gathering peanuts and bird seed that I left out for them. - Bonus shot of the crows in the street outside.

INSIDE:  While I was outside snapping photos of the birds and snow I snapped this photo of my cat, Piglet sitting inside my mom's house looking outside at me.

Well that's it for this week.  I need to go soak in another tub of warm water or put on the Aspercreme and take 2 Ibuprofen for the pain and go to bed.

Stay safe and warm to those still battling through this winter.
