In Memoriam - Callie-Jo 2008-2017

It's time to share a final good-bye to our sweet Callie-Jo here on the blog.

Click to enlarge photos (Especially the Collages).

In late August of this year we had taken her to the vet because she was vomiting and not eating.  At that time they determined she was running a fever and prescribed Antibiotics for her.  I spent 7 days feeding her with a syringe before she started eating on her own.  She seemed to rally back although we noticed she was losing weight.

This past week she started vomiting again and not eating so we took her back to the Vet.  She had numerous tests done but they could not figure out what was causing her to lose the weight and become dehydrated.  Without an exploratory surgery they just couldn't say what was wrong other then she was a very sick kitty.

They feel from some of the tests that she most likely had some kind of intestinal cancer.   They didn't feel even if they did surgery that she would be strong enough to survive the surgery and if she did it would be a long road to recovery.  On Thursday we made the decision to have her put to sleep.  It was so very hard to do as when we went to say our final good-bye's she seemed so happy to see us and on the outside she really didn't look sick at all.  I can't begin to tell you how hard it was to let her go but I know she is pain free now & in a better place.

This tiny little kitten at our house in March of 2008 - My hubby had went out of town on a job and I stopped in at a local pet store and saw her and fell in love.  I just had to bring her home even though he said we didn't need another cat. They bonded with each other right away and she often would take naps with him.

This is one of my favorite pictures of her as a kitten.  Coleen was just 3 years old and decided one day to read Calli-Jo a story.

She even helped my husband by supervising his painting skills.

She was quite musical as well...

Here she is playing the guitar!

When we first got Callie-Jo we had another older cat named, Nuisance.  For several days the two of them were insperable.  She stayed by his side almost all day long.  Then one night he got really sick and we rushed him to the Vet and the next day he passed away at home.  We think she knew he was going to die and wanted to comfort him.

She was such a sweet and loving cat.  We often called her "Wonky Face" because she had the part siamese part calico features that made her look quite different.

Here are some of her "Wonky Faces"

She earned the nickname, Space Cadet because she would often just stare up at the ceiling at nothing at all.

 She was just so funny.

In the mornings when I would take a shower she would sit on the edge of the tub and wait until I pulled the shower curtain open then she would sit and watch the water drip down the shower walls.

She loved getting into cardboard boxes of any size along with baskets and laying on purses.

She was loved by all the cats and all of us.   There are probably many more photos and stories I could tell you about our Callie-Jo and maybe someday she'll be featured again in loving memory shots. She will truly be missed.

Rest in Peace Miss Callie-Jo - Always in our hearts.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - February 9, 2014

Welcome! - I've taken a couple of weeks off from Scavenger Hunt Sunday for various reasons but this week I decided it was time to get back in the hunt.

This weeks prompts:  Looking Up, Light, Favorite Mobile Device, Outside and Inside.

Let's just say this week has been nothing but snow, snow & more snow for so many people and here in "Wally World" we finally got hit with it.  I started out trying hard to embrace the beauty of the snow but by the end of the week I'm not trying to just "endure" through it.

Having fallen on some ice today and landing rather soundly on my behind I've got quite the sore bum so sitting is limited.  Hopefully I'll make it around to comment on your blogs.

Let's get started.  Please join me and Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.

LOOKING UP:

While out taking pictures this week I heard the unmistakable sound of geese flying overhead.  I looked up and snapped this shot as they passed over head.

LIGHT:  There hasn't been much sun light this past week but it was out for a few minutes and I caught a hint of it shining on our storage shed roof.

FAVORITE MOBILE DEVICE:  Okay I planned to skip this one since I don't own a fancy phone, ipod, etc...and then I snapped a photo from inside my craft room that I thought fit quite well.  I bet all over the country this machine has been a lot of people's favorite mobile device....

A snow plow doing what it does best, removing that white stuff to help make driving easier.

OUTSIDE:  Another photo shot from inside looking outside...

Callie-Jo was quite content to be inside on this cold day watching the crows outside gathering peanuts and bird seed that I left out for them. - Bonus shot of the crows in the street outside.

INSIDE:  While I was outside snapping photos of the birds and snow I snapped this photo of my cat, Piglet sitting inside my mom's house looking outside at me.

Well that's it for this week.  I need to go soak in another tub of warm water or put on the Aspercreme and take 2 Ibuprofen for the pain and go to bed.

Stay safe and warm to those still battling through this winter.

Songography - Blessed Edition and Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Welcome!

Please join me for SONGOGRAPHY and SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY

This week Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) offered us the song,  Blessed by Martina McBride.
Again a country song that I wasn't familiar with but this one I actually liked when I listed to it.

I am truly "Blessed" to have a wonderful family, a nice home to live in, food to eat, clothes to wear and time to enjoy the beauty around me.  Today I took a little drive and was able to capture some wonderful pictures.  Then on my way to the store tonight I saw that the sun was just starting to set and I knew that it was going to be a gorgeous sunset.  So I made a bit of a "detour" from the store and headed out on a country road so I could capture this:

Yes it is a beautiful world and I am truly blessed.

Please join me now as we head over to Ashley's blog  (Ramblings and Photos) for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.  The prompts this week were:
Horizon, Sharp, Leather, Blue and Diagonal Lines.

HORIZON:  One of the many shots I took on my little drive today.

There was a bit of haze over the mountains which is pretty typical for this time of year but I think they are still lovely.

SHARP:  Coleen and I stopped yesterday on our way for Yogurt so I could get some pictures and I knew exactly what I was looking for as I'd taken similar pictures of this very same thing last year but never posted them.  I decided to see if they were still there and sure enough they were:  Well new one's that is.

I'm thinking the thorns on these bushes must be sharp.

LEATHER:  Got my little model and did a small photo session of her Leather Jacket that her Grandpa bought her for Christmas last year.

BLUE:  Frost crystals on the Van's tinted window - Aren't they pretty.

DIAGONAL LINES:  This one was a bit tough but I think this counts...

Callie-Jo has diagonal whiskers.

SHS and Songography - August 25, 2013

Song-ography followed by Scavenger Hunt Sunday:

It's time once again to join Kathy (You'll Shoot Your Eye Out) for Song-ography.  This week she went "way back" in time with the song,
Summer Wind sung by Frank Sinatra.  I must admit I had never heard this song before but I enjoyed listening to it.

So without further ado here is my interpretation of the song.  Mind you this one was a "tough" one for me and I may be out on a limb here with my interpretation but that's what makes this meme fun is that you can be literal or not so literal with the song and your photographic interpretation of it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's get started now on Scavenger Hunt Sunday brought to you by Ashley (Ramblings and Photos).

This weeks prompts were:  Back to School, Writing Utensil, Favorite Subject, Lunch and Recreation.

Again I am going to confess to having to get creative with some of these prompts.

BACK TO SCHOOL:  School hasn't started here yet and won't until afte Labor Day (Sept. 3rd to be exact).  Today though Coleen and I walked down to the school she attends and I shot this photo of the front of the school.

WRITING UTENSIL:

Callie-Jo checking out some pencils I put on the floor to see what she would do with them.

FAVORITE SUBJECT:  My favorite subject in school was reading but when I asked Coleen today she said hers is, Science.  She loves to check out books about things instead of fictional stories.  Here she is at the library today listening to some scientific stuff about...

LUNCH:  This one was one of the tough ones.  So I'm getting creative here:
Coleen & I went to a park today and there were lots of people enjoying Picnic lunches there.  These yellow-jackets were enjoying a lunch of watermelon left by some picnickers who didn't want them invading their lunch so they placed the plates on a nearby table to draw the yellow-jackets away from where they were eating.

RECREATION:  Fish can be recreational...especially if you catch something like this:

This fun fish is inside the local library.  - I love that it's an,  "Art Carp."

Cattitude Monday - Say it an't so!

Caught this shot of Callie-Jo and thought it would be great for a Monday protest!

Click to enlarge. - You can almost see down her throat in this shot.  That's one big yawn!

Cattitude Monday - Guitar Kitty

Happy Monday! -  If you are here for SHS click on the link.

I'm back again with some more cat photo's for Cattitude Monday.  My hubby plays guitar and was sitting down practicing one night when Callie-Jo decided to get in on the action.  He said she started out using her paws to try and strum the guitar but I didn't get any shots of that.  When he called me in to come watch this is what I captured.

I'm not sure what song she was trying to play but it sure was funny to watch her!

Photo Art Friday

Well first off I want to say that I am just a "beginner" with my photography skills.  I don't have a fancy camera, I use a Cannon Power Shot A1100 IS camera but I want to get better and hopefully learn a lot more about taking pictures so I thought I'd jump in on this challenge.  I found it thanks to another blogger that I recently found, Eveyln (Within My Focus). I love her work.

Anyway the challenge is called Photo Art Friday and so without further ado here is my photo:

This is one of our 6 (yes, Six) cats.  Her name is Callie-Jo and she is part Siamese and part Calico.  Her face is so interesting.  We call her, "Wonky Face" because of it.  Aren't those blue eyes just gorgeous!

Now I really don't know much about photo editing.  I did a few minor edits in Picasa to sharpen and highlight the color a little more.  So what you all think...I'm open to suggestions but please be gentle.
