Saturday Critters

Welcome!

I've been trying to get back into posting on this blog again but sometimes it's difficult to find the time to post and read posts.  At any rate I hope you still will want to follow me and continue to post comments when I am able to post.

Joining Eileen (Viewing Nature with Eileen) today for:
SATURDAY CRITTERS

I took a drive with my mom Thursday afternoon.  We drove up, Mill Creek and along the way up and back we spotted several groups of deer.  I'm sharing their photos with you today.

Spotted this one near a stream or pond and managed to snap a quick shot.

Turned around and drove back down and low and behold there were a couple more deer at the same spot.

Next up I spotted a nice looking Buck and a Doe in someones yard so I had to turn around to get on the same side of the road and managed a few shots of them.

I hate it when my camera decides to focus on the grass and not the deer but it made for an interesting shot I think.

I finally managed a good shot of Mr. Buck after he stood up.  Nice Antlers.

He wandered over to the Doe and I got a shot of both of them.  She sure was a nice bright reddish brown color.

Spotted one more Buck with a slight less impressive set of Antlers but they are impressive in their own "funky" way I think.

Looks like he's giving me the "raspberry" there.

It's always fun to spot deer in the wild and get photos of them.  I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I did taking them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Friday Randoms & Saturday Critters

Hello! - Yes, I'm a day late (and always a dollar short) for posting for both:

Still trying to catch up with Good Fences - If you need to see that post click on the link.

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

This week was Spring Break here and I've had Coleen home all week so we've been busy doing different things and I just haven't had much time for being on the computer.  I hope you'll all forgive me for not getting around to your blogs on time.

Anyway I'm joining in now with my Randoms for this week.

 1.  We (Coleen, Me & my mom) took another drive the other night as I was needing to get a photo during the "golden hour" before sunset.  We drove up this steep dirt road where you could see down into the valley on one side and on the other was farm land.  We happened to spot some animals in a farmers wheat field.  They turned out to be more deer (yes I like to photograph deer).  There are 28 of them in this picture.  It's cropped so you can see them better.  They were quite a way off so it's the best I can do.

2.

The flowering trees are still in bloom around here.  This is the neighbors apple tree in the yard next to my mom's place.  I love the blooms but we hate when they fall off (looks like snow and is a mess to clean up) - Worse yet they nerve do anything with the apples and then they rot and fall off the tree into my mom's yard where wasp get in them and we end up having to clean them up.

3.

Yesterday we drove down to McNary Dam for something to do other than sit at home.  Since it was Coleen's Spring Break she was able to take her friend along to enjoy the day. - This is a picture of the Dam's spillway.

4.

The day before (Thursday) I took the girls out to Rooks Park so they could play and look around.  I happened to spot a Heron and decided to try and get pictures of it.  I managed to get 3 decent ones before it decided to fly off.

5.  I enjoy Rooks Park as there are lots of pretty things to look at like this fern that hadn't yet unfurled.

1.  I've been busy this week clearing the weeds out of my mom's flower beds (and mine as well) and planting flowers.  This is some of her tulips blooming.  I love the color and the way the sunlight seems to glow through them. - It's a lot of work keeping up with 2 different places but I'm managing a little at a time.

2.  Coleen and her friend, Emilie enjoying the walk through Rooks Park.

3.  We had hoped to see some Salmon at the Dam yesterday but it's the wrong time of the year for the Salmon run.  Instead we did see this Crawfish in a tank inside the Dam's Visitor Center.

4.  We still have lots of cats come to visit and eat the food we leave on my mom's front porch.  This is the neighbor across the street's cat, Tiger showing up to see what was in the food bowls the other night.

5.  I don't mind seeing snakes if they don't startle me and while we were at Rooks Park the girls spotted several snakes and I was lucky enough to get a picture of one before it slithered off into the rocks.

Linking up also to SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

Oops I forgot to link to FUN FRIDAY FAVORITES as well.

Might as well include a bonus photo for this meme.

One of the signs just as you get ready to enter the Dam that tells about some of the history of the area.

Saturday's Critters - February 20, 2016

 Hello & Welcome.

I'm joining Eileen (Viewing Nature with Eileen) today for SATURDAY'S CRITTERS.

Yesterday in my Willy-Nilly Friday Five post I featured a photo of some deer we saw while out and about the other day.  Today I thought I would share a few more of those photos.

This is one of the first one's we spotted as we pulled over to take some photos.  I've cropped this photo to get a closer view of the deer.

This photo shows how far away they were.  I did not have the "zoom" on the lens in this shot.  - As you can see in the background there is a house beyond all that brush.

When we first spotted the deer we could only see 2 but then they were joined by others.

Now there are four.

Across the field those four will soon be joined by these 2.

Here they are looking towards the others across the field.  You can see the white on the underside of their tail...giving them the name: White-Tail Deer.

Let's make that 3 as another one emerged out of the bushes to join them and off they went to join the others.

In this shot there are now 7 deer.

Another view of some of the small herd that gathered in the field.

Finally a review of yesterday's photo with 8 deer although I think we did count 9 by the time we left.

I always enjoy seeing deer in the wild.  This particular area is surrounded by homes and a church is on the other side of the field to the left and across the road is a skate-board park and a soccer field.  The deer don't seem to mind the traffic driving by at all.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my "critters" today.  Have a wonderful day.

Saturday's Critters and 3 Day Quote Challenge

Joining Eileen today for SATURDAY'S CRITTERS and participating in Day 2 of the Quote Challenge

Meet....Gwen.  She belongs to the same people who owned Eric the cat that sadly we lost last year when he was hit by a car.  He was featured many times on my blog.  -  Gwen is very "shy" so it's hard to get good pictures of her.  I caught this one of her from across the street.  As soon as I tried to get closer she took off and headed back around the corner of the house.

I followed her around the house though and very caustiously snapped a couple of close-up photos of her.

Isn't she a beautiful cat.  Those eyes are so pretty.

So today I am not going to nominate the following people for the quote challenge.  Remember you do not have to take up the challenge if you don't want to.

Cathy:  Grandma's Little Corner
Tete:  Beyond The Garden Gate
Felicia: Fotography by Felicia

The rules of the challenge are simple. They are as follows:
1. Post for three consecutive days.
2. Choose and share one or three quotes each day.
3. Challenge three additional bloggers each day.

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.

Saturday Art and Saturday Critters.

If you are visiting for Feline Friday or Good Fences click on those links to be taken to that post.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joining in today with Eileen's (Saturday Critters)  and Claudia's
Saturday Art Memes.

First up for Saturday Critters a photo I took of a bunch of crows in a neighbors tree.

We have tons of Crows in the neighborhood.  I actually enjoy leaving food out for them and watching them.  They are quite intelligent birds.

So for the Saturday Art meme I'm using the same photo but edited two very different ways. - I've used textures from Pic Monkey and also Pixel Dust Photo Art.

Here is the first version:

This one is peaceful and calming.

Next up a more "edgy" version.

Which do you like the best?

Have a wonderful day & thanks for stopping by.

Critter Saturday

Joining in today for Saturday's Critters hosted by Eileen (Viewing Nature with Eileen) and Camera Critters .

I spotted this cat while I was out photographing some fences the other day.  It was really wary of me and I barely managed to get a shot of it before it dashed off into some bushes.

Coming home from the store I happened to see a woman leaning down next to a truck parked in a nearby alley.  I wondered what she was doing and then I noticed she was trying to coax a rabbit out from under the truck.  I quickly pulled in our driveway, got my camera and called Coleen.  We headed across the street and down to the alleyway.  The rabbit managed to hop out into the alley and I snapped a couple of shots.  This is the only decent one that I got.  The guy who lived there said it was the next door neighbors rabbit and sometimes it get's loose.  I hope they got it back inside as we live on such a busy street I'd hate for the poor thing to get hit by a car.

Always fun to spot something out of the ordinary.  Hope you've enjoyed my critters today.  -  Have a great day.

Camera Critters and Saturday's Critters

Wow it is so good to be back!  Click to Enlarge Photos

Joining in with Eileen (Viewing Nature) for Saturday's Critters and also Camera Critters.

I've had these photos in my files since May and just haven't gotten around to posting them yet.

We took a little drive (My mom, Coleen and I) one afternoon and on our way home we spotted these deer on a hillside so I pulled over and snapped a few pictures.

I hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as we did.  I love the "White-Tail" deer in our part of the country.  Edit:  Thanks to Brian (Brian King Images) he helped identify these deer as Mule rather then White-Tail)  We have both in our area.  Another post here:  http://wishesdreamsandotherthings.blogspot.com/2012/08/whatever-wednesday-bennington-lake.html  Shows the White-Tail.
