Friday Randoms & Saturday Critters

Hello! - Yes, I'm a day late (and always a dollar short) for posting for both:

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

This week was Spring Break here and I've had Coleen home all week so we've been busy doing different things and I just haven't had much time for being on the computer.  I hope you'll all forgive me for not getting around to your blogs on time.

Anyway I'm joining in now with my Randoms for this week.

 1.  We (Coleen, Me & my mom) took another drive the other night as I was needing to get a photo during the "golden hour" before sunset.  We drove up this steep dirt road where you could see down into the valley on one side and on the other was farm land.  We happened to spot some animals in a farmers wheat field.  They turned out to be more deer (yes I like to photograph deer).  There are 28 of them in this picture.  It's cropped so you can see them better.  They were quite a way off so it's the best I can do.

 

 

2. 

The flowering trees are still in bloom around here.  This is the neighbors apple tree in the yard next to my mom's place.  I love the blooms but we hate when they fall off (looks like snow and is a mess to clean up) - Worse yet they nerve do anything with the apples and then they rot and fall off the tree into my mom's yard where wasp get in them and we end up having to clean them up.

 

3. 



 Yesterday we drove down to McNary Dam for something to do other than sit at home.  Since it was Coleen's Spring Break she was able to take her friend along to enjoy the day. - This is a picture of the Dam's spillway.

4. 

The day before (Thursday) I took the girls out to Rooks Park so they could play and look around.  I happened to spot a Heron and decided to try and get pictures of it.  I managed to get 3 decent ones before it decided to fly off.

 

 

5.  I enjoy Rooks Park as there are lots of pretty things to look at like this fern that hadn't yet unfurled.

 

 

 

 





1.  I've been busy this week clearing the weeds out of my mom's flower beds (and mine as well) and planting flowers.  This is some of her tulips blooming.  I love the color and the way the sunlight seems to glow through them. - It's a lot of work keeping up with 2 different places but I'm managing a little at a time.

 

 

2.  Coleen and her friend, Emilie enjoying the walk through Rooks Park.

3.  We had hoped to see some Salmon at the Dam yesterday but it's the wrong time of the year for the Salmon run.  Instead we did see this Crawfish in a tank inside the Dam's Visitor Center.

 



 

4.  We still have lots of cats come to visit and eat the food we leave on my mom's front porch.  This is the neighbor across the street's cat, Tiger showing up to see what was in the food bowls the other night.

 

 



 

5.  I don't mind seeing snakes if they don't startle me and while we were at Rooks Park the girls spotted several snakes and I was lucky enough to get a picture of one before it slithered off into the rocks.

Good Fences #107 I'll Be Watching You

Last week when I featured the Panel Fence  I mentioned that I was nervous about taking closer photos because I felt like I was being "watched"  -  Well for this weeks fence entry I really was being watched as you will soon see.

I had spotted this fence while driving by one day and decided I needed to go back and see what exactly it was that I saw on the fence. - On this particular day I had Coleen and her friend, Emilie with me and we took a walk up to where the fence was located.

Earlier in the walk my Emilie had asked me if I felt weird about taking photos of people's houses.  I told her that it was perfectly legal to photograph stuff from a public sidewalk and that no I didn't feel that weird.

The first thing that caught my eye were these little flowers above the fence.  I couldn't seem to get a good focus on them so this will have to do.

I went back another day and snapped them from a different angle but it's not that great a photo either.

I also happened to noticed on my return trip back that they had a gate on the other side of the fence so I snapped a photo of it as well.

I didn't see any dog but I didn't get close enough to find out if there was one inside or not.

The funniest thing was when I was there with the girls.  Emilie saw me taking pictures and she yells,  "Your on Camera!"

I said,  "I know, that's what I came to take the picture of!"

Apparently somebody else thought that sign was funny as they wrote, (BOO) on the side of the fence with chalk.

Sometimes you really are being "watched" when you photograph a fence.

Seasons - April 4, 2016

 



Blogger was being a (pain) this morning and wouldn't let me edit the size of my photos. - But it seems to be working fine now.

I'm joining Jeanette (St Germain's) for SEASONS  In recent posts I've shared some photos of a herd of deer that we often spot.  Normally they are in a bunch of brush along side the road but this particular day they happened to be in a field behind the Adventist church nearby.  There were 10 of them present but this shot only shows five of them. -  It's a good thing it's not Hunting Season although shooting them is something I would never do except for shooting them with my camera.  They are such lovely creatures.

 

 

We are well into the Spring season here now but in this next shot you can see that our mountains still look a lot like it's Winter.  Which is good as we needed a good snow pack after last summer's drought.

On Saturday we drove out to the Community College where my hubby and SIL were working on a project to have a little impromtu lunch with them.  After lunch I took Greta, Coleen and my mom to see the Campanile at the Water Education Center.

It's a lot of fun to take sticks (or canes) and bang on the disc's to hear the wonderful sounds they make.

 

Finally since most everyone was sick with the Flu over Easter Weekend last week we held Coleen's Easter Egg Hunt yesterday.  She still enjoys hunting for the eggs and when I told her that next year would be her last year for the egg hunt she was like,  No Way!"

 

 

But there is a season in life when we have to let go of some of our childhood traditions.  We just do them in a different way for the adults now (no hunting for the eggs) but we all stick get an Easter Basket.

Happy Birthday Stephanie

Debbie (She Graces Her Home) is hosting a Blog Party today to honor her daughter, Stephanie (The Enchanting Rose) who is celebrating her 30th Birthday today.

Both Debbie and Stephanie have become good friends to me through the blogging world.  I met Stephanie first and then her mom, Debbie when I was partnered with her through one of the Tea Cup and Mug Exhanges.

Both of these wonderful women are Christian ladies and dedicated to their families and serving God.

It has been such a pleasure to me to visit each of their blogs so I couldn't pass up the chance today to help celebrate Stephanie's birthday.

Here is what I am choosing to share:

Thank you Stephanie for being a "blessing" in my life.  May God give you abundant blessings as you serve him and others.  You are truly an inspiration.

It's Willy-Nilly & Random 5 Friday - April 1, 2016

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY:

1.  I may have used this quote before but it's a good one and this is a new photo and since Spring is in the air I couldn't resist sharing these lovely spring blooms with you.

Spotted this group of deer again recently.  They hang out in a small brush area near a bunch of homes.  I never tire of taking pictures of them. 

3. I love frogs and so for my birthday hubby got me a new wind chime.  Isn't it cute!

4.  Did you ever see this episode of Friends?

Well Greta decided to give our cat, Harley a massage the other day with Drum Sticks
He liked it!

 

5.  Our town has recently had problems with Wild Turkey's invading neighborhoods and causing damage to vehicles , property and chasing school children.  They rounded a bunch of them up and released them back in the mountains. - We spotted this group in a field outside of town recently.

1. Spotted this pretty Hot Air ballon the other day (our sky was cloudless - I added the clouds) - This balloon is The Spirit of Walla Walla balloon.

3. Some fun yard decor we spotted recently.  Gives you something to do with rocks.

It's Harley again.  He looks so peaceful here but you should have seen him this morning when we took him to the Vet.  He needed a check-up and he was NOT a "happy camper" - In fact they ended up having to sedate him just to give him his shots and exam.

5.  Finally a street scene here in town:

These are buses (they look like trolley cars) that take people around town.  Pretty neat looking.  Walla Walla use to actually have trolley cars here years and years ago. Now a funny little story:

So yesterday I was driving around and noticed something really "odd" about the guy that was in front of me.  -  He had his window down and was waving his hand around out the window and looked like he was bebopping to some tunes.  Nothing to weird about that but then I noticed that he had his wind shield wipers on.  You might think,
What's weird about that? - Well how about the fact that it was 79 degrees outside and the sun was shining!  I'd say that was pretty Weird!
