Back to School 2021

As is tradition around here I took Coleen's back to school shots this morning. - It's hard to believe she is a Junior in High School now.

Here is another tradition...Side by Side comparison from last year.

The first one was her joke outfit since it was "distance learning last year to start with.  Then she put on some regular clothes for the middle shot and finally the shot on the right is what she wore to school this morning.

Off to the bowling alley now for the first day of league.  Thanks for stopping by.

Friday Fun - April 6, 2018

Welcome!  - It's been a rainy first week of April here in "Wally-World" but it's better than snow so I can't complain.

Tom (The Backroads Traveler) has taken over:
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE and I'm joining in on the fun today.

I'll also be joining Comedy Plus for FELINE FRIDAY and

McGuffy's Reader for FRIENDLY-FILL INS - Just click on the links to be taken to the party.

Starting off with Willy-Nilly Friday Five:

1.  Every time I've driven by this sign I've wanted to get a picture of it.  I just happened to have my camera with me one day last week and the light was red so I snapped a quick photo.

Do you see what's "Funny" about the sign? -  Next time your seafood "sits up" you might want to run.

2.  Took a drive the other day.  Spotted these deer (there were two others out of this shot) resting in some one's yard.

3.  Drove up to Bennington Lake, the water is really low as they haven't filled it yet.  Saw this Heron though and managed to get close enough for a few shots before it flew off.

4.  They finally opened up Rooks Park and I thought this pretty blooming tree looked so "spring like" that I had to take a few pictures.  The bees were enjoying the blooms.

5.  Coleen likes to wear clothes that don't match (it's her quirky style) - This was the PJ ensemble she had on yesterday morning.

Colorful huh?

For Feline Friday a cat I spotted while out on a walk this week during one of the few times it wasn't raining.

I'm being watched very carefully.

Friendly Fill-Ins:

The statements:

Week 100: April 6, 2018
1.                       is one of my                            .
2. I                        to                          .
3. I have a hard time                        .
4.                is easy for me.

My Answers:

1.  People who let their dogs poop on your yard is one of my pet peeves.  - Saw this happen last night to our neighbors yard.  How hard is it to carry a clean-up bag and pick it up!

2.  I like to listen to my Friends CD's to help me go to sleep.  I know them by heart after listening to them so much.

3.  I have a hard time getting motivated to do anything these days.  I need a vacation!

4. In lieu of my answer to number 3...Procrastinating is easy for me!  - Eventually though I get out of my funk and get things done.

That's it for me this time around.  Hope you have enjoyed your stay.  Leaving you with a song...

Late for the Party

Welcome! - Yes it's Saturday and I'm late for the Party....What party?  - Well how about Good Fences Around the World & Willy-Nilly Friday Five.

Busy week....no excuse.

  Up first for GOOD FENCES

Spotted this decorative piece on a gate while out on a walk this past week.

I think it dresses up the plain wooden fence nicely.  Don't you?

Next to the pretty orange ball they had this sign:

Of course there were no fresh cut flowers because it's still winter here and about the only flowers growing now would be early crocus.

Now let's join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY 5

1.  It's time once again to sign up for the Teacup/Mug Exchange hosted by Stephanie from: The Enchanting Rose blog!!!

This is always so much fun.  You get to make friends with the person you send to and the person who sends to you.  It's so exciting when your package arrives, just like Christmas.  It's also a lot of fun picking out items to send to your partner.  You won't want to miss this so go sign up now.

2.  Coleen had to dress up in 80's fashion for a school project.  We are on a limited budget so had to find things she already had to work for the theme.  Here is what she & her mom came up with.

I think they did an awesome job.

3.  The winter was super hard on the roads here in "Wally World" (aka Walla Walla) -  Our street was a mess...pot holes, up rooted asphalt etc....they came the other day to do a "temporary" fix on the road.

This was part of the crew working on the road right in front of my mom's house and our house.  They just put down gravel and won't put new asphalt until late March or early April.  Not much of an improvement but better than nothing at all.

4.  Hubby was sitting at the table the other day and said to me:  "I think I may need you to wash off the back of my head."  -  I said,  "Why?"
He said, "Well a board hit me in the back of the head this morning while I was working and I think it might have some dried blood on it."

So I go look and told him,  "You are going to the ER to have that looked at right now."  He's like,  "No it's fine."  But being the nice wife that I am I said, "To bad, go get it checked out."  He did....

Here is the cut on his head before on the left & after they cleaned it up on the right.

Thankfully no concussion, no stitches needed (they glued it).  It's sore but he's lucky it wasn' t worse.  Men!

5.  Finally I leave you with a little video of our sweet kitty,  Caramel playing "fetch."

She is such a silly little thing and we love her to pieces.

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.

Seasons - A Warm Fall Outing

It's been a busy week (when isn't it anymore) so I haven't had much time for blogging.

Saturday I took a trip out to Whitman Mission for a photo hunt for another Meme I participate in and discovered the changing seasons at the mission.

I'm sharing a few photos today from that outing. - Click to Enlarge Photos

Nothing better then being able to share the outing with my Granddaughter, Coleen.

                                  The Whitman Memorial Shaft

                                                   Native Grasses

                                          Autumnal Leaves

Turtles basking in the warm sunshine

A lone tree in a nearby farmers field with the Blue mountains in
                                             the background.

Just a pleasant outing on an Autumn day as the seasons start to change.

Seasons - It's Fair Time

First I want to extend a Heartfelt Thank You to everyone who commented on my last post about losing our sweet Snickers last Friday. - It meant so much to us to know you all cared & understood our loss and how hard it was to say good-bye to her.

Last weekend was our local Fair & Rodeo.  I didn't post then because we were still dealing with a very sick kitty at the time and hoping that we wouldn't have to make the decision to put her down.

So today for SEASONS  hosted by Jesh I am sharing a few of the shots I took at the Fair.

What's a Fair without Food (although we didn't eat any there this year as it's always so expensive and I needed the money I had available so Coleen could go on the rides and play games.)  - Still I love all the colorful booths and flags so I just took pictures instead.

One of Coleen's favorite rides is called, Wipe Out.  Here she is enjoying this ride.  Since Grandma doesn't do rides and she had no friends along she often sat by herself on the rides.

They had a couple of Longhorns that they were giving people rides on.  I snapped this guy as he was getting his saddle put on.  They sure are gorgeous animals.

This ride is called, The Tornado - The ride to the right in the photo is,
The Zipper. - Coleen loved this ride, it was her first time going on it.  She rode it a couple of times.

The majestic Tiger from the Wild Animal display they had at the fair.

We spent 4 1/2 hours there and I took lots of photos (which I'll share more later on).  It was a fun but tiring day.

Don't forget to stop in on Jesh's blog and check out the other particpants for Seasons. - Have a great day.

Seasons - Back To School

Joining Jesh for SEASONS today.

It's:  Back To School Season around here.

Today was the 1st Day of School and so it's time for me to share the annual back to school photos of Coleen.

She started Middle School today (6th Grade) and this is the Shirt that the new students received the other day at their Orientation.

This is the outfit she chose to wear for the first day of school.

She was excited about going to school today. - Yesterday the poor girl had a stomach ache and was sick most of the morning but started feeling better in the afternoon.  Thank goodness because I would have hated for her to miss the first day of school.

As is a "tradition" of mine I like to show (side by side) comparison shots from the previous school year to the current one.

Wow there is a huge change this year.

Finally a shot of her mom getting ready to drive her to school.  Grandma will do the school pick-up this afternoon.

Hard to believe that summer is now over atleast as far as being out of school.  It's still fairly warm here with temps in the 80-90's so we've got summer weather for awhile yet.

Have a great day & don't forget to stop by Jesh's blog and check out the other participants for Seasons.

52 Frames - Chair Prompt

Here is the LINK to my 52 Frames for the prompt: Chair.  Please visit and comment.

"Worn and Beautiful"
When I saw this prompt I knew exactly what I want to do for it. There is an old wicker type rocking chair that has been sitting in an alley against some people's fence for over a year. I decided to get my granddaughter to be my model and take the chair out into the alley for a photo shoot. Along the way we picked some flowers and decided they would look great in... the photo as well.

Below are 2 more photos of the chair I took.  I hope you'll visit the above link to see what I picked as my final choice for the prompt.

This chair sits up against someone's fence that borders an alley in our neighborhood.

This next one is my model (Coleen) sitting in the chair in the alley.

Up, Up and Away

Happy Wednesday. -  A couple of weekends ago we took Coleen out to attend an event where they were offering FREE rides to kids in airplanes.  She's never flown in a plane before so this was the perfect opportunity for her to see what flying is like.  It was sponsored by a group called, YoungEagles.org.

Linking up today for Wednesday Around the World.

Getting instructions on how the planes work.

This is the plane she went up in.

Her flying buddies (Alex and Alexander) who she just met and I cajoled into posing for a photo for me.

The Pilot helping her into the plane.

Headgear on and ready to go.

Slow taxi down the runway.

Just about to lift off.

We have take-off.

Up, Up and Away.

Coming in for the landing.

Touchdown.

Incoming and Outgoing.

One happy flyer.  She wanted to go again but afte waiting over an hour for her turn to get on and a huge crowd of kids waiting for their flight we told her she'd have to wait until the next time they offered free rides.

She loved it!
