Feline Friday and Friendly Fill-Ins - August 11, 2023

Joining in today on Feline Friday - Hosted over on Messymimi's Meanderings  and Friendly Fill-Ins hosted at:

Fifteen and Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs

First up my photos for Feline Friday.  Today I'm featuring a couple of pictures of our new kitten,  Maky (aka Wacky Maky).  She has really settled into life here and is such an adorably sweet kitten.

Next up the Friendly Fill In's:

The statements are:

1. Sometimes I like ____________________ and sometimes I don’t.
2. If I had a nickel for every time _____________________  ,  I would be rich.
3. _________ is already _________, but I’m not complaining
4. I haven’t yet decided _________.

 These are my answers:

1.  Sometimes I like my kitties and sometimes I don't. - I know shocking news!  I like them most of the time but I don't like them when I'm trying to read, or e-mail or just sit and relax and they insist on getting in my face.

2.  If I had a nickel for every time those kitties got in my face,  I would be rich.

3.  Fall is already around the corner but I'm not complaining because that means the hot weather will soon end.

4. I haven't yet decided what kind of cards I'm going to make for Christmas.  I always wait till the last minute it seems.

You can always visit my card blog if you want here:  Faith Artistry if you feel so inclined.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop in at the blogs hosting these fun things.

Feline Friday - September 10, 2021

First off I want to thank everyone who sent us such comforting and kind words on the loss of our sweet, Captain Cuddle this past weekend. - It was so hard to let him go but the "humane" thing to do considering the condition he had and the grim outlook of him ever recovering from it.

So today I'm joining Sandee (Comedy Plus) for FELINE FRIDAY

It's been a day of cats around here for sure.

First this morning we found this kitty hanging around our house.  It was one we'd never seen before & seemed to be friendly.  We ended up catching him and putting him in a carrier then calling animal control.

Turns out that he was apparently a (feral cat) at one time and had been neutered and had his ear clipped and then released.  So we had no choice but to just let him out of the carrier and hope that he doesn't get hit by cars or beaten up by other cats.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next up it's someone's "Gottcha Day" here.

Yes it's been 5 years (so hard to believe) since Caramel arrived and joined our family.

She was the tiniest little fur ball and oh so cute.

Now she's grown into a gorgeous and rather large fur baby.  We love her to pieces and hope to have many more years with her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Next up.....

We would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family,

This is Rowdy Rawhide (we will just call him Rowdy) but we like to give them middle names.  My daughter picked out the name, Rowdy and Mike use to watch the show Rawhide and the character that Clint Eastwood played was named, Rowdy Yates so we decided that Rawhide would be his middle name.

He is fitting right in with all the other cats now & I'll be sharing many more photos of him in the coming days.

Willy Nilly Friday Five and 1000 Posts

Welcome! - Today is a "milestone" day for this blog.  This is my 1000th Post.  I started this blog back in September of 2007.  My first real post was this one:  featuring a Tortellini recipe.

Alot has changed since then but I'm still blogging (when I can) and enjoying sharing with those of you who continue to follow my blog.

Up today for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:
1.  Wild Elderberries. - Now I've heard of people making Elderberry Wine but I've never tried it.

Found this website with several recipes to use Elderberries with.  Maybe I should give them a try sometime.  http://www.twineagles.org/elderberry-recipes.html

2.  Spotted this while out on a drive one afternoon:

Zebra or Horse or perhaps Zeborse!  Also there seems to be a photo bomber peeking over the top of this critter.

3.  Last weeks 52 Frame shot (Texture - was the theme)  - This is Eliza a handmade doll that Coleen made all by herself.  She's such a creative person.  I hesitate to call her a child anymore since she's 13 now.

This weeks theme was (Beautiful Chaos) and here is the photo I used:

4.  Another view of wheat fields after harvest.  That machine looks so tiny but I was high up on Scenic Loop shooting down into the valley.

5.  Creepy Crawly....This weeks Black and White Shot.

Featured Cat of the week:  Ghost  -  Isn't he a handsome cat.

Willly Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Welcome!

Wow summer is almost officially over since Fall starts in 2 weeks.  Where did the time go?

Joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) today for:
WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  The last time I posted for WNFF - I posted the photo below and promised to share a closer view of the sculpture so as promised below is a better view.

I really like this sculpture.  There was another one across the street that I'll share another time (got to keep you anticipating)

2.  We took a drive over the the Tri-Cities (Pasco, Kennewick, Richland) to a music store last month.  On the way back I spotted a bunch of birds sitting on some rocks on the riverbank.  I spotted a Pelican perched on a large rock and asked hubby to stop so I could get a photo.  It was posing so nicely.  Well just as I got down to where I thought I could get a decent photo the birds all flew off and this is all I got.  (No Pelicans here, just Seagulls).

It still turned out pretty cool.  The reason the birds flew.....

Someone let their dog out...oh that made me mad.

3.  I love the area we live in.  Lots of mountains and fields to visit.  Took this shot of a plowed field while drive up Scenic Loop last week.

I found the patterns rather fascinating.

4.  I participate in a group called 52 Frames and last week my Purple Cow was chosed as one of the 52 Committee Picks for the weekly theme.  The theme was,  "Purple."  -  Coleen helped me by making me an Oragami Cow.  I was inspired by the little poem:

The Purple Cow

I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one!

 5.  More deer sightings.  Look at the impressive rack on the Buck.  I sure hope he makes it through hunting season.

 Bonus shot:

A black and white of part of the Wedding Fountain in Pioneer Park.

My music selection today isn't my typical music style.  I was just surprised to learn that one of my favorite Hallmark Actresses (Alicia Witt) is also an accomplished pianist and singer.  I actually like her voice so may have to purchase some of her albums.

Something funny for FELINE FRIDAY:  (Comedy Plus)

Image may contain: people sitting

Can't leave without sharing one of our kitties to:

Not the clearest shot but I had to shot quickly before he sucked that little tongue back in!  -  This one is Bandit.

Willy-Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Welcome!

Joining in today for Willy-Nilly Friday Five hosted by Tom,
(The Backroads Traveller) and  Feline Friday hosted by Sandee, (Comedy Plus).

Let's get started on WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

We took a drive this week up Tollgate to the lake where my hubby is doing some work on a cabin up there.  Today's photos are from that trip.

1.  First up, a view of the Blue Mountains from the E.J. Haney Viewpoint.  Notice the crows in the trees on the right.

2.  We stopped at the Tollgate Store to get some snacks and outside the store was this (weird) metal sculpture.

It's a badger catching salmon.  After researching I'm not sure if this was a Bear or a Wolverine but it's not a Badger as they are much cuter that that.   It looks really ferocious and scary.

3.  One of the fancier cabins on the lake.

You have to be a member to use the lake and there is a gate with a code that you need to get inside as people actually live there year round.

4. We didn't see any deer on the way up (except for some horses which I made the mistake of saying, "Look at those big deer" before I realized they were horses) now I'll never live that one down.  Yes I do know the difference! - Anyway while we were looking at the lake this lovely deer was just walking by and munching on grass.

It seemed almost "tame" and hubby says it's there almost everyday.

5.  Some pretty wildflowers growing by a post on the ground.

6.  Can't leave hubby out since he's the reason we took the drive.  Here he is hard at work.

7.  On our way out we spotted this little family happily swimming on the lake.  I'm not sure what kind of birds these were but I'm "guessing" perhaps some type of a Loon.

All in all a very pleasant drive up and back.

Now for FELINE FRIDAY

Today we have, Speedy G just lounging around.  I love how he lays with his paws spread out in front like that.  He has to sometimes because he has such a big fat belly...see the next shot.

We call him,  "Sumo Kitty" because of that belly!

He has such a sweet little face that I just couldn't resist sharing this shot too.

Leaving you today with a lovely musical selection to enjoy

One of my favorite songs by the Eagles....I hope we all have a Peaceful Easy feeling type of weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

Willy Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Yikes!  Summer is going by so quickly and I've not posted much about it.  Seems like I'm so busy trying to keep up with yard work, housework, taking care of my mom etc..that I barely have time to breath much less blog.  I miss it,  so every now & then I manage to do a post just to let you all know I'm still alive.

Joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE
and Sandee (Comedy Plus) for FELINE FRIDAY

1. June was a nice cool month and we had a nice surprise on June 29th with a tiny rainshower and a rainbow.  This is the best shot I could manage of the rainbow....

Others were much luckier.  You can view their shots HERE and HERE

That same evening the sunset was just wonderful and I snapped this shot of it:

2. Drove up to Bennington Lake one evening and spotted these colorful kayaks out on the lake.

3.  I also found some Queen Anne's lace to photograph.

Here is an "artsy" edit of the same photo.

4.  On the way out of the lake I spotted a Quail sitting on a fence post.  I quickly pulled into a nearby turnout and quietly got out of the car and got as close as I could without spooking the quail.  I've always wanted to get a shot of a quail like this.  Sadly I didn't quite get the quail in good focus but it's not a bad shot and I'll keep working on getting just the perfect shot of a quail.

5.  We didn't go out of town over the 4th of July but we did manage a picnic at one of the local parks.  Below are shots of us having a good time.

6.  Bonus shot of one of the many hanging baskets in our down town.

Now for FELINE FRIDAY....

A shot of Bandit watching one of the other cats.  He has such gorgeous eyes.

It's a HOT one here this week.  The high today is expected to be 102 so I'm leaving you with this musical selection.

Have a great weekend.  For those of you in the "Heat Wave" areas stay cool and safe.
