Take me out to the Ballgame

Back again...2 posts in one week (well technically this is the start of a new week)  it's a record for me lately!

This post is about another event that was part of the Crime Watch Chief for a Day - See previous post.

All the Chiefs and Chiefs for a Day and their families got to attend the baseball game between the Walla Walla Sweets and the Corvalis Knights on July 14th.

I haven't been to a baseball game in a very long time so was excited about the chance to attend one. - The only bad thing was that it was very HOT out that night.  However we were in the shade in the stands and a breeze was blowing so it turned out to be halfway pleasant to watch.

These pictures were taken with my Cell Phone so the quality isn't the greatest.

                                                Old Glory

                               Sweet Lou the team mascot.
Yes, it's an Onion (Walla Walla Sweet Onions) you have have heard of them.  Best sweet onions in the world (IMO).

One of the sponsors at the stadium - Just wanted something that said, Walla Walla so that worked.

The scoreboard prior to the start of the game.

                               The Crime Watch banner

Izak and Rocky in the white uniforms.  Each kid and their chief were introduced to the crowd.

Izak and Rocky in their seats (right behind home plate).

A couple of action shots, batting and pitching.

One of the little games they played during breaks in the game.  Here the 2 people are twisting around a bat and then trying to run afterwards.  It was pretty comical to watch.

Don't know this lady but I wanted to show the baseball bat drink holders that were available from the Beer Garden. - I can't stand the smell of beer so I've never even tried it.

Jojo got to got get her face painted (she chose mermaid) and also got a animal balloon.  She enjoyed herself at the game.  After the game was over kids were allowed to run around the bases.  I didn't pictures of that though.

Oh yeah,  the Sweets won the game 3-1! All in all a really fun time.

Yes I'm still alive & Friday Randoms

You may have notice that I've been absent from the blogging world for a couple of weeks now. -  I haven't been feeling well and developed a bad cough and just didn't have the energy to do much at all.  -  So sorry I have not visited any of your blogs during this time.

So now on to WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tanya from (Around Roanoke).

1.  So how much would you pay for an Onion?  Below is a wonderful Walla Walla Sweet Onion that I bought the other day.

The clerk was ringing my items up and she noticed that something seemed off on the total of my bill.  Seems this onion was listed at costing,  $24.79!
As it turned out the scale didn't register the onions weight and she had already entered a code for the tomatoes I was buying and it charged me the code price instead of the actual price of the onion.  Whew...I know they are wonderful tasting onions but I wasn't about to pay that much for one onion.

2.  So hubby and I are sitting out in the living room the other night watching TV when we here this loud bang.  Thinking that one of the cats had knocked something off a shelf I went to investigate.  Nothing seemed out of place and all the cats appeared to be fine as well.  Then I noticed that the door to a little mini refrigerator we have was open and I thought that's weird.  So I went to see why and discovered that we had turned it up to high and one of the cans of soda pop we had inside had frozen and exploded!  It was a bit of a mess cleaning it up.  This is the can after it exploded.

3.  Our sweet Miss Dottie hasn't been feeling well lately either.  We took her to the Vet two weeks ago and she had a mild infection in one of her ears and had bumped the tumor on the roof of her mouth opening it up.  They put her on antibiotics and put some wax stuff in her ear to clear up the infection.  She seemed to be getting better but I had to take her back again this morning for another wax treatment as the ear started irritating her again.  Poor thing.  She's 17 years old but they say she's in pretty good shape for a cat her age.

4. During one of my better days last week I tried out a new recipe for:
Taco Stuffed Zucchini Boats. (Recipe can be found here)

They were YUMMY!

5.  Had a wonderful visit yesterday.  One of my best friends that I have not seen in atleast 25 years was driving through this way and stopped in for a brief visit.  It was so much fun seeing her again.  She and her husband took us out to lunch and we had a great time with them.

                                        My friend, Twila and Me.

Mike (my hubby) Me, Twila and (her hubby) Lee.  What fun to be able to enjoy a few hours with them.

That's it for me.  Life has been busy and I don't always have time to stop by your blogs.  Taking care of my mom is becoming increasingly more demanding so if I don't stop by as often it's not because I don't care anymore.  I enjoy all your blogs & visits and want you to know I appreciate all of you very much.

Have a great weekend.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - May 5, 2013

It's time to join in on the fun of Scavenger Hunt Sunday hosted by the lovely and talented Ashley Sisk (Ramblings and Photos).  Each week you get a list of 5 "prompts" to look for and photograph through out the week.  This weeks prompts were:

Background, Spotted or Dots, Weather, Motion and Sweet.

I was wondering what I would find for some of the prompts and found them in unexpected places and events that I attended with Coleen this week.

BACKGROUND:  Now this is a "loose" interpretation of this prompt but I like it.

The shade from our back fence provided just the right "background" to capture the sunlight on this dandelion and make it shine.

SPOTTED or DOTS:   I was worried about this prompt until  I took Coleen to an art exhibit this morning.  She had a piece of artwork from school at the exhibit and when we got there we discovered that they had some arts & crafts for the kids to do while they were browsing around.  One was called,  "Dot Walla Walla" and featured a table with a bunch of cut out circles of patterned paper that the kids could glue together and then place on these long white cloth panels hanging from the wall.  This is a portion of one of those panels.

WEATHER:  After we left the art exhibit we went to several places to buy flowers.  The "weather" was perfect for buying and planting.

MOTION:  Friday the kids at Coleen's school put on a Cinco deMayo program and she was in one of the dances that the kids performed.  I hadn't planned on attending but was glad that I did.  The dances were great and I was able to capture some fun motion shots. You get 2 for this prompt.

These were the 1st graders doing the Fisherman's Dance.  I loved how the little girls were waving their dresses about.

I also caught Coleen in her dance and was excited to spot that I'd captured her just as her feet came off the floor in a little jump portion of the dance.

SWEET:  This one will surprise you.  I had planned to show a shot of the cupcake that I bought at the Art Exhibit this morning but then spotted something else on our walk back to the car.

It's a sign advertising our Walla Walla "Sweet" Onions and here they serve Sweet Onion Sausage Sandwiches and other items featuring the famous onions.  Oh my they are tasty & awesome on hamburgers too.  Check out their website : www.onionworld.com .

That's it for this weeks hunt.  Be sure to check out the other participants by visiting Ashley's blog. - Up next week: Perspective, Golden, Bloom, Dark, Local
