Felines & Willy-Nilly Friday Five

Welcome! - I've been pretty the past couple of weeks so I haven't had much time for blogging.  Today I'm taking time to participate in,

FELINE FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  Part of the business of the past 2 weeks.  Back to Back Birthday Celebrations.  - My mom turned 89 on the 18th and Coleen turned 13 on the 19th (Yes we have a teenager in the house now!)

2.  Spotted this Dried Artichoke Bloom growing up through a stump one afternoon.  - I thought it looked pretty cool.

3.  Spotted this display at a local grocery store.

4.  The sun was shining on the neighbors trees the other night (we've had a lot of rain so the sun was a welcome sight) and I really liked the colors of the trees.

5.  Goofing around with our cat, Dottie this morning.

                                           It's,  "Dottie Trump!"

Please no "haters" as this was just meant to be funny.

Have a great day.

Willy-Nilly Friday Five - December 1, 2017

Welcome - I hope everyone had a good week and for those in the US who celebrated Thanksgiving I hope it was pleasant one.  Ours was quiet but nice.

Hard to believe but Christmas will be here in just 24 days now...so much to do yet.  We have the outside lights up and I'm working on inside decorations this week.  Our tree won't go up for at least a week yet.  We are waiting on a doorway gate to keep the cats out of the room so they won't destroy the tree.

Now let's join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

1.  Spotted in a field while out for a drive this past week.

2.  Flowers my youngest brother, (Roger) sent our mom for Thanksgiving.

Aren't they pretty.

3.  Sitting Pretty - Our oldest cat, Miss Dottie

She's been jumping up on shelves, counters & people this week.  Seems she has a new spring to her step. Not bad for an almost 18 year old cat.

4.  Coleen reading (hah, hah) a book for school homework.

5.  Saw this while driving down the street.

Couldn't resist this musical selection this week.

Have a great weekend everyone! - Thanks for stopping by.

Yes I'm still alive & Friday Randoms

You may have notice that I've been absent from the blogging world for a couple of weeks now. -  I haven't been feeling well and developed a bad cough and just didn't have the energy to do much at all.  -  So sorry I have not visited any of your blogs during this time.

So now on to WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tanya from (Around Roanoke).

1.  So how much would you pay for an Onion?  Below is a wonderful Walla Walla Sweet Onion that I bought the other day.

The clerk was ringing my items up and she noticed that something seemed off on the total of my bill.  Seems this onion was listed at costing,  $24.79!
As it turned out the scale didn't register the onions weight and she had already entered a code for the tomatoes I was buying and it charged me the code price instead of the actual price of the onion.  Whew...I know they are wonderful tasting onions but I wasn't about to pay that much for one onion.

2.  So hubby and I are sitting out in the living room the other night watching TV when we here this loud bang.  Thinking that one of the cats had knocked something off a shelf I went to investigate.  Nothing seemed out of place and all the cats appeared to be fine as well.  Then I noticed that the door to a little mini refrigerator we have was open and I thought that's weird.  So I went to see why and discovered that we had turned it up to high and one of the cans of soda pop we had inside had frozen and exploded!  It was a bit of a mess cleaning it up.  This is the can after it exploded.

3.  Our sweet Miss Dottie hasn't been feeling well lately either.  We took her to the Vet two weeks ago and she had a mild infection in one of her ears and had bumped the tumor on the roof of her mouth opening it up.  They put her on antibiotics and put some wax stuff in her ear to clear up the infection.  She seemed to be getting better but I had to take her back again this morning for another wax treatment as the ear started irritating her again.  Poor thing.  She's 17 years old but they say she's in pretty good shape for a cat her age.

4. During one of my better days last week I tried out a new recipe for:
Taco Stuffed Zucchini Boats. (Recipe can be found here)

They were YUMMY!

5.  Had a wonderful visit yesterday.  One of my best friends that I have not seen in atleast 25 years was driving through this way and stopped in for a brief visit.  It was so much fun seeing her again.  She and her husband took us out to lunch and we had a great time with them.

                                        My friend, Twila and Me.

Mike (my hubby) Me, Twila and (her hubby) Lee.  What fun to be able to enjoy a few hours with them.

That's it for me.  Life has been busy and I don't always have time to stop by your blogs.  Taking care of my mom is becoming increasingly more demanding so if I don't stop by as often it's not because I don't care anymore.  I enjoy all your blogs & visits and want you to know I appreciate all of you very much.

Have a great weekend.

Willy Nilly Friday Five, 10 Things of Thankful

Welcome & Happy Friday.

Today I'm joining Tanya for Willy-Nilly Friday Five and Josie for Ten Things of Thankful.

This is my first time joining in this meme but I think it's a good one to participate in.

TEN THINGS OF THANKFUL

The first 5 things are also part of WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1. Last week while dealing with our computer issues I was driving out to WalMart to try and find a DSL Modem to replace the one we had that had gone bad due to a "power surge" earlier in the week.  So I am stopped at a traffice light when I hear a loud pop followed by another pop and a jolt to our van. - We had been rear ended because the car behind us had been rear ended and it threw them into the back of our van.  - I got out and looked at the damage to the van and told the driver of the car behind me I wasn't even going to worry about it and he could deal with the car that hit him.  So I'm thankful that we weren't hurt and that this was the only damage to our van.

2. I'm thankful for my Granddaughter, Coleen and the fact that she wants to share fun little things with her Grandma.  Her teacher showed the kids a website the other day at school and Coleen had to show it to me. - Warning it's addictive.  It's called: Quick Draw - Just click on the link and have fun.

3.  We've had so much rain this month we've almost needed row boats to get around (well it seems that way) so I'm thankful that today it's not raining and my daffodils look like this...

Instead of this:

4.  I'm thankful for being able to see this yesterday on a short little drive I took with my mom.

It's always fun to spot this group of deer that hang out in a residential area.

5.  I'm thankful for cute birthday gifts like this solar flower that I got from my daughter & granddaughter for my birthday last week & for everyone that has wished me a Happy B-Day recently.

It's pretty during the day just as it is and at night that little ball in the center changed colors.  So pretty.

6. I'm thankful for:  Peanut Butter...yes, it's my go to breakfast when we are short on grocery money and I can even eat it right out of the jar for a snack too.  Yum!

7.  I'm thankful for Casper The Friendly Squirrel...that's what I've named this little fellow who is always willing to come and take peanuts from my hand. - Coleen was able to get a picture of him yesterday taking peanuts from me.

Coleen asked me how I knew which squirrel it was and I can tell you this little fellow has a stubby tail and I know it's him by his tail and the fact he isn't afraid to take the peanuts out of my hand like most of the other squirrels are.

8.  I'm thankful that my husband has been able to find jobs to help keep money coming in as it's been really "tight" budget wise since he retired and now has to depend on finding work on his own.

9.  I'm thankful for all our kitties (Miss Dottie, Callie-Jo, Harley, Captain Cuddles, Ghost, Spooky-Boo, Bandit, Pepper, and Caramel Honeybun) as they always make me smile. Like Miss Dottie here cramming herself into a cardboard box that was way to small but she managed to fit inside it.

10. I'm thankful for everyone who stops by my blog and leaves a comment or just stops in because it makes me feel goo to know you've been by.  - I hope you've enjoyed your stay here today.

Have a great weekend.

Willy Nilly Friday 5 & Fun Friday Favorites, February 19, 2016

Joining Tanya (Around Roanoke) and Cath (Cath @ Home) today for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE and FUN FRIDAY FAVORITES

1.  Don't they look peaceful and sweet.  The one on the left is Miss Dottie and she is nearly 16 years old.  The one on the right is Harley.  He'll turn 8 in late April.

Well last Thursday evening they were anything but peaceful and sweet.  I was watching television when all of a sudden the female ran into the living room followed by the male who then proceed to viciously attack her.  I tried to get him off of her and he bit my arm and then cornered her and begin attacking her again.  I yelled for my granddaughter upstairs to come help and she also got bit by Harley but I was able to grab Dottie up and get her away from him.  We ended up having to keep them separated for 2 full days from each other.  What caused this strange bizarre behavior?  Well it's called,  Redirected Feline Agression.  You can read about it HERE:
Let me tell you it's pretty scary when it happens.  Thankfully after a couple of days they settled back into their normal sweet selves again.

2.  I went out to look for a few signs of spring the other day and spotted several of these Water Stridders (we call them water skippers) in the little stream just a few houses away from where we live.  Wikipedia has a lot of information on them that is quite interesting.

3.  Coleen and I drove out past the area where we spotted the deer last year and low and behold there were a couple in a field.  We stopped to watch them and before long those two were joined by others.  These are White-Tail deer.  You can read more about them HERE:

This is one of the last shots I took of them before we left.  There are 8 deer in this photo.  Note the one on the far right....(taking a dump).  Just for fun here is my favorite Far Side Cartoon....

4.  On my walk the other day looking for fences I spotted this sweet scene:

A pair of Mallard Ducks in some shrubbery.  Another sign spring is on the way as I've seen several pairs of ducks or 2 males & a female together already this month.  These two were across the street from out local park which is home to lots of ducks and other birds.  Apparently you can find a political cartoon: Mallard Fillmore which features a mallard duck.  Is nothing sacred anymore!

5.  I spotted this fun little figurine while out on my walk as well.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the two stacked rocks on it's back is but it made for a fun photo subject.  If you like goats here are a few blogs you can visit to enjoy goat antics and such.

1. Green Eggs & Goats
2. Eden Hills
3. Baby Goats and Friends

Well that's it for this week.  I hope you've enjoyed your visit.  Have a great weekend.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - October 12, 2014

It's time to join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for
SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY

This weeks prompts were:
Details, Friend, Comfort, Above and New.

This week was a bit challenging for sure.

DETAILS:

I just like all the "details"  in this shot from the color of the leaves and grass to the texture of them and the sidewalk.

FRIEND:

I managed to snap one quick (but not great) shot of this girl and her horse coming down the trail at Bennington Lake.  I'm sure they are truly "friends" with each other.

COMFORT:  This was a toughie.

Our cat Dottie likes to pet herself - She is not bathing here.  She'll lay on the floor and rub her paw on her face and roll around and purr.  It's really cute to watch her.  We think she finds "comfort" in doing this.

ABOVE:  I heard some honking the other day and just happened to have my camera in hand.  As I looked up this was what was "above" me.

NEW:   Every year I like to add something "new" to my Halloween or Christmas decorations.  The crow is new this year.

So that's it for this weeks hunt.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Don't forget to check out the other participants.

In case you want to join in on the fun.  Here are the prompts Ashley has listed for next weeks hunt.

Book, Mail, Star, Saturated and Wall.
