Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 1, 2022

My gosh it's been over a month now since I've posted here.  - I guess it's because I rarely go anywhere (other than the grocery store or out to eat) so I don't seem to have much to post about.  - Okay, whining over...

For today I'm joining in on WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE  hosted by Tom (The backroads traveller)

 1. Going back to May for a couple of shots... Just never posted them but wanted to share.  My mom's lilac tree was stunning this year (until the heavy rains came).  I captured this shot of some of the blooms.

2.  I try to document hubby's accidents so I can remember when they happened. - This one was May 5.  He'd been out of town working and after he got home that night he told us he'd fallen and bumped his head, elbow and knee.  After looking at the "goose egg" on his forehead we went to the Urgent Care.  - No broken bones and they didn't think he had a concussion so after a couple of hours they sent him home.  - He felt pretty sore for several days afterwards.

3.  He requested Meatloaf for his birthday in May and since I hate mixing it up my daughter and "Red" came over and helped out!

4. I got to attend a small circus with my daughter and granddaughter. This was one of the acts.  I shot this for 52 Frames Triangular Composition theme. - It made the (52 Picks album!)

5. Some strange looking clouds I noticed one night. Shot in BW

6. Every year a bunch of White Pelicans shows up and I happened to spot them one day.  - I decided to try and get a better view of them so I drove to a different spot and started walking down to the water.  Just before I got there they decided to fly so I only managed to capture this image of them.

7.  Bought a new lily from a catalog and planted it.  It should look like this one from the catalog...
Must See Lily This is what I got....  I'm not sure that I like it, what do you think?

8. While driving around trying to find something for the Everything In Focus challenge I spotted these weeds growing in a wheat field and snapped a shot of them just because.

That's it for this round. - Hopefully I'll get out more and snap more pictures like I use to so I'll have more to share.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - April 29, 2022 (Fun with Trees and Bushes)

Hip Hip Hooray,  A new post from me!

So today I'm posting for WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tom, (The Back roads Traveller)

1.  One day I was walking down the block and spotted something that looked a bit "odd"  as I got closer I realized what it was and had a real good chuckle.  -  It was a tomato bush but not your ordinary tomato bush.  Someone had a great sense of humor or just wanted to feed the birds.

2.  Next up every year this lady a few blocks away decorates her front tree with plastic Easter Eggs,  I've posted pictures of the tree before but am sharing one shot from this years tree.

They are so colorful and fun.  I noticed a lot of other people decorating their trees with eggs this year.

3.  So I went to photograph something else and spotted these little bushes and just had to share.

Aren't they funny!

4.  Out on a walk this week I spotted this on a tree, it made me smile too.

5. Finally I had some fun of my own with a photo I took of some weeds growing up through the concrete.

Here is the original photo, straight out of the camera:

They sort of reminded me of Palm trees .  Anyway I played around on Pic Monkey and used the Warhol feature and came up with this.

So that's it for this post.  I've got more stuff to share so hopefully I can post a little more often then I have been.

Willy-Nilly Friday Five - December 1, 2017

Welcome - I hope everyone had a good week and for those in the US who celebrated Thanksgiving I hope it was pleasant one.  Ours was quiet but nice.

Hard to believe but Christmas will be here in just 24 days now...so much to do yet.  We have the outside lights up and I'm working on inside decorations this week.  Our tree won't go up for at least a week yet.  We are waiting on a doorway gate to keep the cats out of the room so they won't destroy the tree.

Now let's join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

1.  Spotted in a field while out for a drive this past week.

2.  Flowers my youngest brother, (Roger) sent our mom for Thanksgiving.

Aren't they pretty.

3.  Sitting Pretty - Our oldest cat, Miss Dottie

She's been jumping up on shelves, counters & people this week.  Seems she has a new spring to her step. Not bad for an almost 18 year old cat.

4.  Coleen reading (hah, hah) a book for school homework.

5.  Saw this while driving down the street.

Couldn't resist this musical selection this week.

Have a great weekend everyone! - Thanks for stopping by.

Yes I'm still alive & Friday Randoms

You may have notice that I've been absent from the blogging world for a couple of weeks now. -  I haven't been feeling well and developed a bad cough and just didn't have the energy to do much at all.  -  So sorry I have not visited any of your blogs during this time.

So now on to WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tanya from (Around Roanoke).

1.  So how much would you pay for an Onion?  Below is a wonderful Walla Walla Sweet Onion that I bought the other day.

The clerk was ringing my items up and she noticed that something seemed off on the total of my bill.  Seems this onion was listed at costing,  $24.79!
As it turned out the scale didn't register the onions weight and she had already entered a code for the tomatoes I was buying and it charged me the code price instead of the actual price of the onion.  Whew...I know they are wonderful tasting onions but I wasn't about to pay that much for one onion.

2.  So hubby and I are sitting out in the living room the other night watching TV when we here this loud bang.  Thinking that one of the cats had knocked something off a shelf I went to investigate.  Nothing seemed out of place and all the cats appeared to be fine as well.  Then I noticed that the door to a little mini refrigerator we have was open and I thought that's weird.  So I went to see why and discovered that we had turned it up to high and one of the cans of soda pop we had inside had frozen and exploded!  It was a bit of a mess cleaning it up.  This is the can after it exploded.

3.  Our sweet Miss Dottie hasn't been feeling well lately either.  We took her to the Vet two weeks ago and she had a mild infection in one of her ears and had bumped the tumor on the roof of her mouth opening it up.  They put her on antibiotics and put some wax stuff in her ear to clear up the infection.  She seemed to be getting better but I had to take her back again this morning for another wax treatment as the ear started irritating her again.  Poor thing.  She's 17 years old but they say she's in pretty good shape for a cat her age.

4. During one of my better days last week I tried out a new recipe for:
Taco Stuffed Zucchini Boats. (Recipe can be found here)

They were YUMMY!

5.  Had a wonderful visit yesterday.  One of my best friends that I have not seen in atleast 25 years was driving through this way and stopped in for a brief visit.  It was so much fun seeing her again.  She and her husband took us out to lunch and we had a great time with them.

                                        My friend, Twila and Me.

Mike (my hubby) Me, Twila and (her hubby) Lee.  What fun to be able to enjoy a few hours with them.

That's it for me.  Life has been busy and I don't always have time to stop by your blogs.  Taking care of my mom is becoming increasingly more demanding so if I don't stop by as often it's not because I don't care anymore.  I enjoy all your blogs & visits and want you to know I appreciate all of you very much.

Have a great weekend.

Friday Fun

Happy Friday!

Posting Today for:

FELINE FRIDAY - See #6

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

TEN THINGS OF THANKFUL

1. I'm thankful for bacon - Everything always seems to taste better with bacon. I love BLT sandwiches.

Yes bacon is awesome but did you know you can use it for, Art?  Check out this bacon art.

2. I'm thankful for walks around our neighborhood where I can see things like this.

3. I'm thankful for being able to drive around and find different things to share and for people who dare to be different.

Not your typical color for a door but I like it.  Here are some other unusual doors.

4.  I'm thankful for Food Bloggers.  There you can find great recipes for food like this: Beef Tips and Gravy (Found HERE)

5.  I'm thankful for Nature and Beautiful Trees like these Magnolia's or Tulip Trees as we call them.

Did you know they come in other colors beside's pink?
How about a Yellow one...

6.  I'm thankful for having a sense of humor because you need one when you see things like this...

7.  I'm thankful my mom taught me how to cook or rather let me learn to cook by allowing me into the kitchen to try out recipes on my own.  I finally have mastered a flaky pie crust and oh my Apple Pie never tasted better.

8. I'm thankful for music.  This week I started listening to a Bob Seger album (Ride Out) that I have and really haven't listened to all that often.  It has some great songs on it. I wanted to play a song called, Listen from the album but YouTube doesn't have it.  So how about California Stars instead.

9.  I'm thankful for making it down this road we took up in the hills last week.

Towards the end of the drive down it the road was super "rutty" and I had to really drive slow so as not to drive off into one of the ruts and get stuck.

10.  I'm thankful that I can see things that I would never get to see if it were not for bloggers like Jackie (Junkboat Travels).  Check out this POST, It's pretty awesome.  Thanks Jackie for sharing.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a very Happy Easter.

Friday Randoms - April 15, 2016

Happy Friday!  - First I want to thank everyone for their,
Concern and Get Well Wishes over the "eye issue" that I had earlier this week.  I'm happy to say that my vision is almost totally back to normal!

Now Let's join Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) and Cath (Cath @ Home) for some Friday Randoms.

1.  We had a hail storm yesterday! - The morning started out pretty decent but by afternoon it had clouded up.  As I was sitting at the computer I heard a noise outside and looked out the window to see that hail was coming down.  I grabbed up the camera and snapped a picture of the hail on the lawn.

2.  I'm participating in 52 Frames and last week the theme was the "Golden Hour" - This is the photo I submitted.  I just loved the lines, colors and textures in this shot of a farmers field.  This week we are doing "Food" as the theme.  I haven't yet figured out what I'm going to do for the challenge but I have an idea.

3. Coleen and I went out for a walk last night (the rain had stopped) and we took my mom's dog Pixie with us.  Can you find her?  No....well you'll have to wait until further down to find her.  These people seriously need to mow!

4.  On the walk I was looking at different trees and happened to see this limb on one of the trees and thought that the peeling bard and bumps on the top of the branch were really interesting.  I hope you do as well.

5.  One more photo from our trip last week to McNary Dam.  These are scale models of Salmon.  They are huge when you see them up close.  We hope to go back in August when the Salmon should be returning up stream to spawn so we can actually see them in the viewing room.

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:

1. Spotted this cute little scene on our walk last night.

2.  This was my (2nd choice) for the Golden Hour but I went with the one of the field.  I still like the sunset here and how it is bathing the valley in golden light.

3.  Where's Pixie?

Here she is!

4. We almost had another cat last night (We don't need anymore cats!!!)

This sweet little thing came out from some one's yard while we were on our walk and wouldn't stop following us.  I ended up taking it back to the yard that it came out of, I tried knocking on their door but no one was home.  The cat started to follow me again but finally gave up and moseyed back the other direction.  Whew!

5.  Redbud blooms.  The trees here in town are spectacular this spring.

FUN FRIDAY FAVORITES:

Since this post is already so long I'm not going to include 5 more photos but I will share just one more Dogwood Photo with you as I simply love how this one turned out.

I told you the trees here were spectacular and I wasn't kidding.

These are all great meme's.  I hope you'll check them out.  Have a great weekend.
