Flower Art Friday - Poppy Surprise

photosbyleanne

It's time for some Floral delight over on LeAnne's blog, Photo's by LeAnne as we share in another Flower Art Friday.

The flowers here where I live are in full bloom now, although a bit soggy this week from several rainy days (when is Summer going to arrive).  Today though my flower photo is one that is especially dear to me because of how it came about.

Last week hubby called me to say that while driving to work he'd spotted some bright red flowers out in a Wheat Field and immediately thought that it would make for a great photo shot for me.  He called to ask if I wanted to drive out with him after he got off work and take some pictures.  Well duh! - I mean how often does your husband actually spot photo ops for you and make a point to drive you out to take pictures.  He said he almost missed them while driving past the field but as we drove out he spotted them again and stopped so I could take some pictures.  There on the edge of a Wheat Field were some wild red poppies that were blooming.  The contrast of the green wheat field and the red of the poppies really looks nice.  I hope you enjoy them.

This shot is my entry for Flower Art Friday but I wanted to share one more photo of the poppies so here is my other shot.

The first shot was taken with my husband's little Kodak Easy Share camera and I did add a bit of the Orton effect to the photo.  His camera takes darker looking shots then mine does.

In my photo I just added a hint of the Urbane Effect to darken the edges of the photo.

Don't forget to stop by LeAnne's blog and check out the other entries.  See you again soon.

  2. Your poppies look lovely tucked in all those heads of wheat. That's pretty cool that your hubby is keeping his eyes open for photo ops.

  3. Oh, my word, Ida, these are beautiful photos! They almost don't look real. Green and red are opposites on the color wheel, so the contrast is very striking. I love red. Your hubby is a very sweet and thoughtful guy to keep you in mind for photo ops.

  6. I love it that your husband is getting into it with you. I've found that my loved ones are beginning to look as if through the lens now and scoping out photo ops for me. Your husband sees the world differently because of you. How awesome is that? Thank you for sharing with Flower Art Friday. :)
