Flowers for Hope and Figures for Fun

Hi,  Happy Friday everyone!

Please join me for Flower Art Friday and Photo Art Friday.

LeAnne gave us the opportunity to showcase the color Pink in our Flower Art Friday entries in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Here is the piece that I created:

Please stop by her blog and check out the other participants floral art pieces.

Now let's move on to Bonnie's (Pixel Dust Photo Art) - Photo Art Friday where the optional theme this week was, "Figure/s"  I have two pieces to share with you this week.

I started with this photo:

This Tiki God is located on the Whitman College campus here in Walla Walla (see previous post for more on the college campus).

After cropping the photo I added a layer of Bonnie's texture:  Ancient Treasures.  I really like how it added a bit of mystery to the photo.

I added the Sketchy Frame and Background on Pic Monkey.
Next up is a piece that I just did today after being inspired by one of Bonnie's pieces.
I remembered that somewhere I had a Public Domain photo that I saw somewhere (sorry I can't remember the source) and decided it would look great with some added texture work.  So I re sized the photo uploaded it to Pic Monkey and then added Bonnie's new texture:  Heartache by the Numbers - Multiply 100% and rotated it.
Next I added a layer of RH West texture: Solstice also at 100% and then used the Boost feature to add just a bit more intense color.  Added frames and called it good.

Be sure to pop in and check out all the fabulous Photo Art on Bonnie's sight.
   Have a great weekend.

Have a "blooming" good Friday !

It's Friday and time to link up for Photo Art and Flower Art Friday.

This week Bonnie (Pixel Dust Photo Art)  gave us the optional prompt of,
Abstraction(s) from Nature.

I wasn't totally sure what exactly to post so hopefully this fits the theme.
I did very little editing on this piece other then cropping, slight color and sharpness corrections and the framing.

This is a rose in my mom's flower garden aptly named, "Scentimental" due to it being a very fragrant smelling rose.  I love the varigated patterns of the petals which to me appear to be very abstract.

Be sure to stop by Bonnie's blog and check out the other great entries.

FLOWER ART FRIDAY  Next up is my entry for Flower Art Friday at Photo's by LeAnne.  Enjoy!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Triple Treat Friday

Fall begins on Saturday here in the US so I thought I would change up my blog banner to welcome in the season.  I hope you like it.

Hey it's Friday and you know what that means....Yes, it's time to join me for my favorite Friday Memes:  Flower Art Friday, Photo Art Friday and Orange You Glad It's Friday.

This week we are starting with:  PHOTO ART FRIDAY
This week Bonnie gave us the optional theme of The Beauty of Aging.

Here is my piece:  As I've gotten older I've started realizing there are certain aspects of aging that (aren't so beautiful) but it's how you deal with them that really matters.  Inside my head and my heart,  Time Stands Still.  So no matter how I'm feeling on the outside there is still beauty on the inside.

The sentiment is a line from an Amy Grant song titled, Stay.

http://youtu.be/tbfzWfdzN8A

Here is my original photo:

I added a layer of Bonnie's texture:  Vintage Vellum in Hardlight at 100%
Then I added another layer of Bonnie's texture:  Other World in Screen Mode at 100%.
These were both added on PicMonkey.

Please stop by Bonnie's blog (Pixel Dust Photo Art) to check out the other fabulous participants.

Next up...

FLOWER ART FRIDAY

Here is the original photo:

A single Nasturtium blossom photographed on an end table.  I added a free texture called, Paint on PicMonkey erasing the texture off the blossom and stem.  Did a few tweeks with different effects (Soften, Boost) and then added the quote.  I really like this piece inspite of the fact that after I had it finished I noticed that the quote was wrong.  The website where I got it from had an error and instead of saying "Once" they had One...needless to say I had to go back in and start all over.  It took me about 5 tries at editing to get the result that I wanted but I persevered and am glad that I did.

Please be sure to stop by LeAnne's blog, (Photos by LeAnne) and check out the gorgeous floral array that awaits you there.

Finally it's time to join me for:

ORANGE YOU GLAD IT'S FRIDAY: (Hood Photo)

Last week I took a walk early on Friday morning and discovered something just laying on the sidewalk that I normally would walk right by.  It caught my eye though because it was, "Orange" and the object of Orange You Glad It's Friday is to post something that has the color orange in it.  I think it's kind of fun to spot something unexpectedly like I did that fits the theme.  Hopefully you don't think I'm to weird for taking a photo of it.

A simple piece or Orange Plastic bent into this shape and just sitting on the sidewalk.  I think it's fun though and hope you do as well.

Have a fabulous weekend.

FLOWER ART FRIDAY  This is posted on LeAnne's Blog usually midday on Thursdays.

I added a layer of Bonnie's (Pixed Dust Photo Art) Abstract Scratches texture, Overlay 70% Opacity and eared it off the bee only.  Then the Grunge Frame was added on Be Funky.

PHOTO ART FRIDAY  This is posted on Bonnie's blog, (Pixel Dust Photo Art) later afternoon on Thursdays.
This week was a bit of a "challenge" as Bonnie gave us the optional theme:
You can use the prompt to compose a seven word sentence that describes your life or experience or process as an artist (be it a photographer, painter, mixed media artist, digital artists, whatever ...) and marry your sentence to a piece of photo art that somehow illustrates your sentence.

I did a lot of thinking about that and decided upon my 7 Word Sentence before I found a photograph that I wanted to use it on.  I think this describes me pretty well.

For me my Photography, Photo Art, Stamping/Crafting etc...are all ways for me to express my feelings and the joy that I get out of life in general.  I'm not a real flashy sort of person and my life is pretty simple but I plan to enjoy it to the fullest that I can.

ORANGE YOU GLAD IT'S FRIDAY      This is posted on Sarah's blog:  (Hood Photo) on Friday mornings.

Don't forget to stop by the different blogs and check out all the great entries from the other participants.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Two For The Price of One (Flower Art and Photo Art Friday)

Happy Friday everyone! - Thanks for stopping by.  Today I'm sharing not one but two photo's with you.

Friday is home to several Memes which I enjoy participating in.  Sometimes that means creating several different posts which all go up on Friday or early Thursday.  This week I decided to do two of them in one post.

First up:  Flower Art Friday: Click to Enlarge Photos.

photosbyleanne

I absolutely love how this turned out.  I started with the photo below (SOOC)

The photo was cropped and then I applied Bonnie Zieman's (Pixel Dust Photo Art) texture:  Vintage Craquelure, Hardlight at 80%.  Then I uploaded the photo to BeFunky and used there Watercolor Effect.  Next I reuploaded the photo on PicMonkey and used the Boost Feature (10%) just to up the color a little.  I then added the Quote there added some dark edges and another Simple Frame.

I really love finding quotes for photos.  This one fits the theme for Photo Art Friday but I decided to do another photo for that.  You'll see that below.

Don't forget to stop by LeAnne's Blog for Flower Art Friday  and then head on over to Bonnie's blog for some wonderful photo art.  The theme there this week is, Movement.

Photo Art Friday:  Hi,  Welcome again.  It's time for some wonderful Photo Art which you'll find at Bonnie's blog,  Pixel Dust Photo Art.

Here is my submission for Photo Art Friday:

For this edit  I uploaded the original photo on Pic Monkey and used Boost at 10% to give the original a little extra oomph.  Then I used Bonnie's texture:  Scratches , Hardlight at 70%.    Then I added the quote and a simple frame.

Below is the original photo (SOOC) so you can see how I edited it.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you've enjoy both pieces of Art this week.

Flower Art Friday - August 31, 2012

Happy Friday (a little early) since this is posting on Thursday.  LeAnne always opens Flower Art Friday up early so let's get started on a journey of floral delight.

This tiny little flower is actually the flower on a "weed" that was growing in my front flower bed.  I originally had intended to use the photo for the word (small) in last Sunday's Scavenger Hunt but then decided I rather liked it as a flower photo so I saved it for today instead.

Processing,  Texture is (Just Someday) from Desirae of Sommerfugl Designs and can be found by clicking on the link.  I overlayed in Hardlight at 80% and erased most of the texture from the flower.
I also used a Daguerreotype frame from Pic Monkey followed by a Simple Frame to complete the look I wanted.

So join me now for a wonderful flower fix.

photosbyleanne

There is so much beauty there you won't be disappointed.

Here is my piece for this week:  Click to Enlarge.

Summer is winding down and many of the flowers are beginning to show signs that Autumn will soon be upon us.  This Black-eyed Susan plant is a fine example.  Even in decay though is still has a certain appeal.

The texture I've used on this photo , (Other Worlds) is from Bonnie at Pixel Dust Photo Art.  You can download it for FREE by clicking on the link I've Provided.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Flower Art Friday - August 10, 2012

It's time once again to enter into the floral masterpiece otherwise known as,
Flower Art Friday

LeAnne has the cutest photo there today showcasing some flowers and a darling little dog.  After seeing her piece I remembered that I had a fun photo of some flowers and a cat that I thought would work for my Flower Art entry this week.

Here is my submission:

This summer I planted some Sweet Williams in my window box and one afternoon our adopted outdoor cat, Piglet decided they would make a good bed in which to lounge and soak up the sunshine.  Needless to say the plants got a little smashed but thankfully it was towards the end of their blooming cycle so it didn't matter that much to me that he was using them as a bed.

Also as an added bonus I'm including a photo I took of Coleen in my rose bed last summer.

Don't forget to stop by LeAnne's blog and take in the other entries.
Have a great day.

I took this shot of some Red Geraniums in my flower bed this morning.  I added Bonnie's (Pixel Dust Photo Art) texture: Dusty Rose Bokeh Overlay using Pic Monkey Hardlight 100% and erased all the texture off the Geranium blooms.

I added a quote and Sketchy Frame followed by Simple Frame to complete the piece.
I hope you enjoy it.

Have a great weekend.

photosbyleanne
It's time for Flower Art Friday so come join me in a delightful tour of some fabulous floral art.

Here is my submission this week.

I was actually out photographing flowers for another Meme when I spotted this lovely scene on my Lobelia.  I really like how the ladybug stands out on the soft white petals of the flower.  I went in search of a ladybug quote that would work with this photo and was thrilled to find this one as it just fits perfectly.  I hope you enjoy it.

Don't forget to check in at LeAnne's blog and view the other participants entries.

Here is my entry:

I took this shot of some flowers that were growing at the Clinic where I get my Allergy Shots.  I just love the center of this flower.  You will notice it appears above in my header as well.  The flower on the left in my header is from my own flower garden and the other two were taken at the clinic in there little garden.  I think they all look so pretty together.

Don't forget to stop by LeAnne's blog and check out the gorgeous flower art entries.

Flower Art Friday - June 29, 2012

photosbyleanne

Boy has this week  month flown by quickly!  - It's time once again to bask in the beauty of Flowers over on LeAnne's blog, Photos by LeAnne.  So join me for Flower Art Friday

I have so many pictures of flowers that sometimes it's hard for me to pick which ones to use.  I had something different in mind for today but then I came across this photo in my Archives this morning and just knew I had to use it.

This is basically a SOOC (Straight Out of Camera) shot other then the Grunge Frame I added.
This is a lily in my mom's flower bed.

What's funny is that I bought this lily last year along with this one for my mom.  We were digging this spring for a spot to plant my new Bleeding Heart and accidently dug up my lily bulb, in fact we chopped it to pieces so I had to throw it out.  I was pretty sad until I found the same lily again and planted it in a spot where I have it marked so as not to dig it up again next spring.

Enjoy!

Flower Art and Photo Art Friday - A Birthday Rose

photosbyleanne

Today is LeAnne's (Photo's by LeAnne) and it's also Flower Art Friday on her blog.  This being her birthday she requested that people post Roses if they wanted to in honor of her birthday and the fact that the Rose is the official flower for the month of June.  -  HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEANNE!

It's also Photo Art Friday on Bonnie's blog,  - Pixel Dust Photo Art where we could feature any piece of Photo Art or one with a, "Vintage" feel to it.  Bonnie even provided some great FREE textures for the challenge if we so desired to use them (and I did).  I chose to use her new texture,
Vintage Craquelure.

Here is the original photo:

This is one of my favorite roses,  It's a J&P (Jackson-Perkins) rose called, Pristine.  It is no longer available and only a portion of my original bush survived the harsh winter of 2008 but thankful it's enough to still produce gorgeous blooms like this one.

Here is my edited version:

Several different photo editing programs were used to get the finished result.
First I uploaded the original photo on Pic Monkey and uploaded Bonnie's texture:
Vintage Craquelure in Hardlight at 100% - I erased all the texture off the rose bloom.  Then I went to the special effects section and used the Sepia effect, fading to 60% to add color back to the rose and background giving it a more vintage feel.  I also added the frame using on of the new "Sketchedy" frames available.  I then saved the photo and reopened it on, Pixlr-o-matic and added their texture (Old) to further age the photo.  Then I uploaded that photo on Foto-flexer to add the sentiment.  They have a large selection of fonts there so I like to use them to add my sentiments.

I hope you like the end result as much as I do.

Please be sure to stop by both LeAnne and Bonnie's blogs to check out all the great Flower Art and Photo Art. - Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Flower Art Friday - Poppy Surprise

photosbyleanne

It's time for some Floral delight over on LeAnne's blog, Photo's by LeAnne as we share in another Flower Art Friday.

The flowers here where I live are in full bloom now, although a bit soggy this week from several rainy days (when is Summer going to arrive).  Today though my flower photo is one that is especially dear to me because of how it came about.

Last week hubby called me to say that while driving to work he'd spotted some bright red flowers out in a Wheat Field and immediately thought that it would make for a great photo shot for me.  He called to ask if I wanted to drive out with him after he got off work and take some pictures.  Well duh! - I mean how often does your husband actually spot photo ops for you and make a point to drive you out to take pictures.  He said he almost missed them while driving past the field but as we drove out he spotted them again and stopped so I could take some pictures.  There on the edge of a Wheat Field were some wild red poppies that were blooming.  The contrast of the green wheat field and the red of the poppies really looks nice.  I hope you enjoy them.

This shot is my entry for Flower Art Friday but I wanted to share one more photo of the poppies so here is my other shot.

The first shot was taken with my husband's little Kodak Easy Share camera and I did add a bit of the Orton effect to the photo.  His camera takes darker looking shots then mine does.

In my photo I just added a hint of the Urbane Effect to darken the edges of the photo.

Don't forget to stop by LeAnne's blog and check out the other entries.  See you again soon.

Flower Art Friday - June 1, 2012

Hi! - It's time for Flower Art Friday photosbyleanne
over on LeAnne's blog, (Photos by LeAnne) so be sure to pop on over and check out all the gorgeous flower art.  You won't be disappointed.

Here is my entry for this week.

I bought a new Oriental Poppy last year towards the end of the summer and we never got the chance to see it bloom because the only bloom it had dried up in the heat.  The plant however weathered the summer and winter and came back strong this year with loads of these gorgeous blooms.  I love the lacy look of the petals and the white/orange color.  I hope you enjoy it too. - Click to Englarge, it looks even prettier when you do.
