Friday Fun - July 31, 2015

Posting some Friday 5's and joining Orange You Glad It's Friday along with sharing some kitty photos.

1.  Here is my shot for OYGIF - The sign at the college for the firefighters.
I am happy to report the fire is 95% contained.

2.  We drove up Scenic Loop today and you could see a small portion of the burn area from the fire.

The burned area is in the middle of the shot.  The fire extend much further back then this shot but we weren't able to drive into the burn area just yet as they are still working on putting the last of the fire out.

3. Spotted this plant growing in someone's parking strip garden (which I'll share more of later on.) - I don't remember what this plant is called though.  If you know let me know and I'll give it a name.  I think it's really pretty though.

Edited:  Mildred from Cattales supplied me with the plant name:  Love Lies Bleeding.  The technical name is:  Amaranthus caudatus  Thanks Mildred.

4.  While on our drive up to the mountains Coleen spotted some deer in someone's yard so I backed up until I could see them decent enough to snap a photo of them.

5.  We took our kitten Bandit in for his rabies shot this morning.  Since he was featured on Monday for Mancat Monday I thought today you could see our female cats.  Someone who commented on Monday said they should be featured on "Femcat Friday" so that's what I'm going to call it for these shots.

This is Miss Dottie - She is 15 years old

This is Snickers who is also 15 years old.

Finally a funny shot of Callie-Jo who is 7 years old.  This shot is for Crockett from Lone Star Cats who loves to give "raspberries"

Have a fabulous weekend!

Friday Fun 4-3-15

Hello & Happy Friday. - I'll be participating today in the following Memes:

Feline Art    -   Feline Friday   -   Orange You Glad It's Friday   -
Random 5 Friday    -  Six Word Friday   &   Willy-Nilly Friday 5.
Please click on the highlighted link to be taken to that link-up.

1.  I love Spring -  It's my favorite season of the year (followed by Fall, Summer and Winter in that order).  So yesterday for Good Fences I had posted a picture of a fence with some tulips in the background.  I promised to show them off better today so here they are.  -  These are also part of Six Word Friday where the word was (Break) this week.

Break forth, Oh Joy of Spring

Your beauty makes my heart sing!

2.  Coleen and I enjoy taking photo walks/drives to see what we can find.  Yesterday she spotted something in a yard and walked over to see what it was.  She called me over and look what she found.

 Isn't that fun.

3.  I enjoy creativity and seeing how talented people can be.  A friend sent me some pictures of some artwork that I think you might enjoy.  Click on this link to see Chalk Art by David Zinn (Street Art Utopia)  I had a little fun of my own with some digital art.  See below:

A lawn ornament we spotted in someone's yard - Edited on BeFunky.  My entry for Feline Art Friday this week.

                                             Original photo - SOOC

4.  With the nice weather comes lawn mowing (thank goodness our Son-in-Law, Kelly now mows the lawn for Mike & my mom) and weeding.  I trimmed rose bushes back last week as they took a really hard hit with the cold snap this past Novemeber.  I'm happy to report that new green shoots are coming up from the bushes but it will be sometime before we have roses this year.  Yesterday I snapped off a dead piece on one bush and it broke off and slammed my hand into another piece of dead wood with lots of thorns....Ouch!

So here is another find from our walk.  Anyone know what this plant is?  Coleen said it had thorns (I didn't look to see if it did or not).  It does not however look like a rose bush.

These are my photos for Orange You Glad It's Friday (Life's Sweet and Spices) which I haven't participated in for some time.  I think they are gorgeous blooms.

5.  You know the song, Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones, right?  - If not there is a line that goes:  "I see a Red Door and I want to Paint It Black." in the song.  Every now and then I see Red Doors on houses around town and I'm reminded of that song.  So imagine my surprise when we spotted this door on our walk:

Does this remind you of a song or something else.  Share your thoughts.

Bonus:  On our walks we often encounter people's cats and we stop to take pictures of them if we can.  This little beauty belonged to the people who live in the house above.  She started towards us but got shy when the owner opened the door so I didn't get to many shots of her.

I've always wanted an "all-white" cat but have never had one.  So last week I asked for people to give my cat photo a caption & sadly no one did.  So here's your chance again.  Please give this photo a caption and I'll choose the best one and post the winning caption on my blog next week.

This is also being shared for Feline Friday (The Burnt Food Dude)

So that's it for this week. I'm not sure if Tanya is doing Willy-Nilly Friday Five this week as she hasn't posted for it yet. Just click on the link to her blog and hopefully she'll put it up. Happy Easter!

Now for those Random Photos & Quotes:

Coleen enjoying pretending she's a bull-rider on the park statue.

The large duck advertising the Ducky Derby.  It sits on top of the bank.  I took this shot through some trees at a parking lot about a block two blocks away from the bank.

Part of a mural painted on the back of a building that we spotted one day while out and about.  I'll share more of the mural sometime in the future.

Just some neat looking hanging seed pods on a tree I spotted one morning walking Coleen to school.

The neighbors cat, Eric enjoying the morning sunshine.  Time not wasted indeed.

Have a safe & happy Memorial Day Weekend to those in the US and to everyone else just have a great weekend as well.

Six Word Fridays and Orange You Glad It's Friday

Happy Friday everyone.  Boy it's been one "BUSY" week here.

Today I am joining Adrienne (My Memory Art) for Six Word Fridays  and Maria (Life's Sweets and Spices) for Orange You Glad It's Friday.

First up SIX WORD FRIDAYS

This weeks word:  Cloud(s)

Bonus Photo:
This weekend the 40th Annual Hot Air Balloon Stampede is taking place here in Walla Walla.  Sadly the weather is probably not going to cooperate for Balloon launches, It's raining right now.  But yesterday a couple of balloons did go up and I captured this shot of one.  There were no clouds in the sky but I added some to the photo.

Next:  ORANGE YOU GLAD IT'S FRIDAY

I spotted a house with an Orange door while out driving one afternoon.  I thought it was rather unusual and I liked the orange brick on the house and also the reddish/orange tones of the tree and bushes surrounding the house.

Take care, thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Random Thoughts With an Orange Twist

Yippee it's Friday!  -  What a week it's been. I feel like I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  So many things going on and just not enough time to get them done.  But enough of that.

Let's get started by joining in on the fun of Random 5 Friday hosted by Nancy at A Rural Journal.  I'll also be participating with Maria from Life's Sweet and Spices for Orange You Glad It's Friday.  Hence all photos today will have orange in them.

Random Thought # 1:  I want a "clone of myself"...That way I could be two places at once and get twice as much done!

(Coleen and Pixie enjoying colorful Fall Foliage)

Random Thought # 2:  Weeding is hard work!  I started clearing out the flower beds this week in hopes of getting them ready to plant all the new bulbs that I bought.  Still not finished because to many other things keep coming up.

(Straw flowers blooming at the Yogurt Shop)

Random Thought #3:  Bowling is an aggravating game.  This week I totally "stunk" and had the lowest game and series that I've had in quite some time.  I'm not sure what's going on but I am about ready to throw my ball in the garbage can.  Perhaps I should spray paint it orange and use if for a Halloween decoration.  -  We took a little tour around town the other day and spotted some fun decorations.  Here is a shot of some of them.

Random Thought #4:  Fall is my favorite season - Okay so this isn't so much a random thought as it is a Random Fact but when you get to see stuff like these leaves can you blame me for loving this time of year.

(My Entry for Orange You Glad It's Friday)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Random Thought #5: We took in the Corn Maze this year.  After 2 years of Coleen being to sick to go and the weather being nasty we finally made it back.  Only took us about an hour to get through the maze.  (Sorry for the quality of the photo but I had my other camera with me and it was dark out so this is the best I could do.)

That's it for me.  Thank you for stopping by.  -  I also want to thank all my new followers and of course all my followers.  You make my day brighter when you stop by.

Orange You Glad It's Friday #45

Oh my gosh I completely forgot about OYGIF

With the 4th of July holiday things were a bit hectic so I am "late" getting in an entry.  I am honored to have been featured for the week with the Orange Bicycle photo from last week.  I have something in mind for next week but need to go photograph it first.

Today I'm sharing some "art work" of Coleen's.  She colored a picture of an Angel cat and it's certainly ORANGE!

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.

Orange You Glad It's Friday #44

Hi,  Hope you have been having a lovely week.  It's been a weird one (well weather wise that is here)  A lot of rain for several days and then bam the high temps are about to arrive.  It was about 65 here on Monday and by this coming Monday it's expected to be 104 -  Good Grief!

With the chitchat about the weather out of the way it's time to join in with Maria (Life's Sweets and Spices) for Orange You Glad It's Friday.

I've driven by this a number of times and have always thought...Gee I should get a picture of that but then I never seem to have my camera handy (I know I should carry it with me all the time).  So today I made a special trip just so I could take this picture.

Isn't that a snazzy color!  -  You'd certainly be noticed riding this bicycle.  Then again considering the other bikes parked next to it....

You'd probably be noticed riding them as well.

If you haven't yet checked out the post below this one please do as little Pixie is our newest edition and she's sort of a shade of orange too.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

OYGIF#43, Blogger Challenge and Summer time Salad

It's Friday!!! - This week has been busy but I've managed to survive it.  Time for a little weekend fun now.  -  So let's get started by joining Maria for Orange You Glad It's Friday.

I'm also sharing a link to a card I made and a recipe for a summer picnic salad.  They all contain some shade of orange.

Enjoy!

Yesterday one of the local grocery stores in town had an oldies band playing and also there were some old cars to view outside in the parking lot.  This is one of them and the owner suggested taking Coleen's picture sitting inside the car.

I don't remember what type of a car he said this was but the model year is 1940.
Don't you love those Orange Hubcaps!

Thought I would also share a  picture of a new salad recipe that I recently tried out.  It's from Taste of Home and is called Pretty Picnic Salad.  If you click on the link you will be taken to the recipe.

Here is the card and a link to my other blog  (Faith Artistry) with information on the card.

Have a great weekend.
