WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE (a tad late)

Hello everyone. - So I'm just a "tad" late for this weeks,
WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE but better late then never as they say.

1. It's Autumn (although some states are already experiencing winter) so I thought this weeks post would be all about the season.

2.  Spotted on a walk around the neighborhood today.

3.It's raining golden leaves.

4. Some little "ghosts" to frighten you.

5.  Pumpkins - Variety is the spice of life.

6.  Is it a traffic cone or a witches hat? - Spotted on the walk.

 7. Flowers before the frost we had this week. - Spotted in someone's yard.

8.  A trip to the pumpkin patch.

Coleen, Greta and Joelle

Sisters - Coleen and Joelle

Our own little pumpkin - Joelle.  (Yes she has "red' hair).

Willy Nilly Friday 5 - Nov. 7, 2014

Hi!  -  It's Friday and that means it's time for a little,
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tanya at
Around Roanoke.

1.  With all the rain we've had the last couple of weeks and then some warm days lots of various "fungi" have been popping up all over the place.  I spotted this one growing sideways in my mom's yard.

Check out this link (Fungal Jungal) to learn more about mushrooms.  I've always thought these were "toad stools" but apparently that's just a name people have given any fungi that they think is poisionous or non-edible.

2.  Coleen and I spotted this colorful rooster in a yard one day so we stopped and asked if we could take a picture of it.  So how about some other chickens you might like.  Check this one out (I think it's cool).

Speaking of cool while looking for more chicken related stuff I stumbled upon this web site showing sculptures made out of Willow Branches.  There is a chicken one there too.  Be sure to check it out as these are so awesome.

3.  It's time for Black and White vs. Colored.  Which version do you prefer.  I happened upon this house on a walk and thought the staircase looked interesting so I photographed it.

4.  Tropical plants fascinate me. Coleen and I spotted these in someone's yard while out on a walk just a few houses away from the home above.

I think it would be fun to grow some tropical plants.  Check out this neat website.  It even has some games for kids to play and learn about tropical plants.

5.  Forgot to post pictures of Coleen from the Pumpkin patch before Halloween so will share this one now.  She's been watching a "weird" but cute little cartoon series all week called, Over The Garden Wall.   We missed last nights episode and she had a "mini-melt down" until Grandma saved the day and found the episode on the Internet so we watched it.  Check out the cartoon and see what you think.

Bonus photo (following Tom - The Backroads Traveller) because 5 just isn't enough (the extra one for my BW/Color) doesn't count.)

This is a building in town that I just had to photograph yesterday while the weather was still nice and it wasn't raining.  Will share more of the photos I took next week.  Colorful isn't it!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - October 26, 2014

Welcome.  -  Won't you join me on a little hunt...
Yes it's time for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY hosted by the wonderful and talented Ashley from, (Ramblings and Photos).

This weeks prompts were:  Paint, Pumpkin, Family, Looking Cute and Photographers Choice.

PAINT:

We have a house in our neighborhood that is being repainted.  This house is sort of the "odd" house in the neighborhood to start out with since it's size is so much larger then any of the other homes so it looks a bit out of place.   Changing the color scheme didn't help any.  What do you think of this color combo together?

I should add though that the fancy emblem in the middle has now been painted white which helps a little but for me the pale soft yellow and the bright turquoise just don't jive.

PUMPKIN:  Or in this case.....Pumpkins.

Yes you've seen this truck before as I photograph it every year when we go to the pumpkin patch.  I liked how they had the one lone pumpkin sitting on the fender of the truck.

FAMILY:

Coleen is of course family and so is our sweet cat, Spooky-Boo and for Coleen all of her stuffed animals are "family" too.

LOOKING CUTE:  - The above photo could fit this prompt but I thought I'd give you this instead:

Spooky-Boo peeking at me from the stair landing.  I think he's looking pretty cute.

PHOTOGRAPHERS CHOICE:

I spotted these leaves on a tree this week while walking around the block.  I loved the colors and the way the branch looks.  Fall is so fleeting but the memories will last when you capture them this way. So this is my choice to share for the prompt.

That's it for this weeks hunt.  I hope you've enjoyed your stay.

Here is the list of prompts for next week if you want to participate.
  • 1. Dress Up
  • 2. Candy
  • 3. Fall Colors
  • 4. Trick or Treat
  • 5. Photographer’s Choice

  • Don't forget to stop in at Ashley's blog and check out the other participants links.  -  Have a great day.

Random 5 Friday - Busy, Busy, Busy

Yes it's Friday (Hip, Hip, Hooray!) and so without further ado or fanfare let's join Nancy (A Rural Journal) for some Random 5 Friday facts.

#1- It's been a busy week.  Monday I had doctor's appointment in the morning and then took our van out to be looked at (more on that in fact 2).
In the afternoon as I was chatting next door with my mom we heard a loud cracking sound and my mom said, "Oh no an apple tree limb just fell."  We rush outside and sure enough the next door neighbors apple tree had a huge limb break and it fell on my mom's roof.

Thankfully no lines were torn down, no holes in the roof, no broken windows.  Just scared the living day lights out of us.  They came over and cleaned everything up and we all had a nice visit while they worked at cleaning the mess up.

#2 - There are honest people in the world.  We have been having problems with our Van doors not always wanting to close when you use the automatic closing button on the key pad.  Sometimes they open back up and you actually have to force them shut.  The Service Repair man told me Monday that unless it was acting up "while I had the van there" (which it wasn't) they couldn't possibly figure out why it wasn't working and we'd basically be wasting close to $100 for them to tell us that if we had them look at it and it didn't malfunction at the time.  -  Guess we'll just live with the problem as it doesn't happen all the time and why waste extra money we don't have.

#3 - Monday we also took Coleen to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins and get her annual Pumpkin Patch photo's taken.  It's so hard these days to get a good picture of her where she's not squinting or making a weird face.  I did capture this one though that I really like.

#4 - Bowling was decent this week!  (153-139-153) - I felt a lot better about that and enjoyed going out to lunch with the other ladies of the league as well.  Had my very first ever Fish Taco and I loved it!

#5 -   The remainder of the week was just as busy.  I had a Dental Appt. on Wednesday.  Oh goodie,  I get to have a Crown put in three weeks from now.  Thank goodness for Insurance as those things are expensive (even with Insurance).  -
Got to go to Coffee with a Friend yesterday, we've been trying for 3 weeks now.
Also been watching the PBR Bull Riding Finals which started Wednesday night.
Need to finish weeding my flower beds and plant my bulbs today.  Busy times, but good ones.

That's it for this week.  Whew!!!

"Whatever Wednesday" - Pumpkin Patch and Autumn Edition

Oh goodness last week completely zipped by and I just didn't get around to uploading my Whatever Wednesday photos.  I apologize and hope that you will enjoy today's edition.

About a week ago I took Coleen out one afternoon and took some pictures of her in some trees (Flame Maples) just around the block from where we live.  I'm sharing a couple of those shots here today.

The wonderful thing about these trees is that the leaves can be, Orange, Yellow and Brilliant Red all on the same tree at the same time.  They are so beautiful.  Sadly the colors only last about a week and then the leaves fall off the tree almost over night.  About 2 days after these pictures were taken the trees were almost totally bare of leaves.

We made our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch so here are a few of the photo that I took there.

    Coleen relaxing in the pumpkins.

    That's one heavy pumpkin!

Greta and Coleen share a fun moment together.

This old truck is one of 2 that they have in the pumpkin field for photo opts.

They have this great slide there for the kids and Coleen enjoys sliding down it.

A view out the windshield of Greta's car showing some of the beautiful trees on the Community College Campus.

Finally a Bowling League update.  Last week Mike & I joined a Sunday night league which meets every other Sunday.  I probably won't be updating scores from that league unless I feel the need to do so.

However this week on the Tuesday morning league I bowl on with my mom I had this:

My name is the top bowler:  IPK - and my last game was a 202!!!  - My first 200+ of the season.  The other scores:  163-143 and my 202 for a 508 series for the day.

Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for stopping by.
