Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 9, 2021

Welcome!  Well summer is moving along quickly.  We broke some records in our area for heat recently with a temp of 116.  So far I'm surviving the heat mainly because I stay inside where it's cool.

Anyway time to join Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:

1.  Summer Clouds

2. Purple Bells. - One of the new perennials I bought this year.

3. Munch mouth.  The heat hasn't stopped them from coming to the feeders everyday.

4.  Rock Camp - Coleen participated in the (Rock Camp) last month.  They were unable to hold it last year.  The first year she participated she played drums.  This year she played a Bass Guitar and sang.

5.  Baby Fix

 6. Cat Nap - Caramel & Bandit usually don't sleep together so this was a rare sight.

 7.  My heart bleeds for you (or me).  - Caramel got scared when I tried to pick her up and she cut my hand.  I used a paper towel to wipe the blood and when I looked at the towel I saw this:

That's it for this edition. - Hope you are enjoying your summer. - I ended up getting (Shingles) last week. - I'm doing very well though and healing quickly.  No photo of that though as it's not a pretty sight.

Willy Nilly Friday 5 and Feline Art

Joining Tanya (Around Roanoke) for
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

1.  While the official start to Fall/Autumn isn't listed on the calendar until September 23rd I've spotted signs that it's rapidly approaching.

2.  Summer isn't over yet though and these colorful chairs just seem to invite you to sit for a spell and enjoy the last lazy days of summer.

3.  We had rain this week - Hallelujah.  It really helped with some of the wild fires still buring in the area.  I was out for a photo hunt and took some pictures of these rain soaked dahlia's in someone's garden.  I still think they look beautiful.

4.  We drove back out the other day to see if we could spot the bucks that were featured last week on WNF5 but they weren't around.  However this sweet little Fawn was.

5.  It's Fair week here.  I took Coleen out today so she could enjoy the rides.

Bonus shot just because....Spotted this old truck in someone's driveway.

Now for FELINE ART

Miss Pepper peeking out from the curtains. - She's growing like a weed and is such a little character.

Thanks for stopping by. - Have a wonderful day.

1.

One of these things is not like the other.  Can you pick it out?  -  I drained some macaroni for a salad I was making and found an intruder in the mix.  Couldn't pass up taking a photo of it.

2.

Just another shot of the Whirlygigs that are on the campus at Walla Walla Community College.  I think they are fun and colorful.

3.
We went for a Picnic over Memorial Day and on the way back I snapped this photo.  There use to be some sort of a water system that piped water to the town of Milton-Freewater years ago.  All that is left now are broken pieces of the trestle lines.  I wish I could find more information on it but after search for some time this morning I gave up.  It's still a really cool photo.

4. Belly-Dancers performing in the park last weekend.

Here is something you probably didn't know but when I was much younger (in my 30's) I actually took a few Belly Dancing lessons from this very group.  I wasn't great at it and I didn't take the lessons very long but it was fun.  Check out this gal:  Now that is talent.

5.  Some colorful puppets we saw at the Craft Fair in the park last weekend.  Coleen didn't buy one of these but she did purchase a little tiger puppet.

Time for the cats.....

FELINE FRIDAY:  The Original Photo:

The cats got a new toy.  Bandit seems bored here but he loves the toy.  So does Spooky-boo who was really having fun with this.

Have a great weekend.  I've got company for the day so I may be awhile viewing your posts.

Willy Nilly Time

If you are here looking for my GOOD FENCES post click on the link.

Time now to join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

1. I spotted a new "Art Sculpture" (?) while out at the Ducky Derby Race.  I snapped a photo of it.  The piece is titled:  Untitled No. 2  - It's a pretty odd piece of art work.  Not particularly my favorite.  What are your opinions.

2.  Coleen spotted another find out on one of our walks.  She found this pod thing on the ground and asked me what it was.  I had no clue but it came from a tree and when we looked up we discovered this:

I took some photos then went home and Googled..."trees with yellow and orange blooms that look like tulips."  That's when I learned this is called an American Tulip Tree.  Yesterday another blogger Miyako (Orchid's Daily Voice) posted some photos of this type of tree.  You might want to check her post out too.  It will be towards the end of the post.

3.  I've mentioned how every year we have a woodpecker come and peck on a nearby telephone pole for hours (it seems).  Well recently the woodpecker was back but this time he brought a friend.  Sorry but this is the best quality photo I could get.  I'm not sure what type of a woodpecker this is either.

4. On the way home from the store one night Coleen and I spotted this in someone's parking strip area (that's a patch of grass between the sidewalk and the street for those not familiar with the term.)  Actually the hive was apparently in a tree on the property but they had placed a hive on a ladder on the sidewalk.  I drove home quickly and got the camera to take some pictures.  This is one of the photos I took.

5.  Last night was Coleen's spring Piano Recital.  She played quite well this time and didn't seem to nervous.

Her piece was called, The Little Waltz.  She's going to take the summer off from lessons and begin again in the fall.  Thought you would enjoy seeing another shot of her taken after the recital.

We sure think she's growing up fast and we're proud of her for being such a sweet and loving child.

Are you ready for cuteness...beside's Coleen?

Bandit enjoying his first taste of Whipped Cream.  He loved it!

The winning caption from last weeks CAPTION THIS:

Thanks Marie.  Marie blogs at A Colorful World.

On Monday I will have a Poll up with all the Caption This photos for last month for you to vote on.  -  There won't be a photo this week.  Check back on Monday for further details.

Have a great weekend.

Random and Willy Nilly Thoughts - 3/6/15

It gives me great pleasure today to join Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) for:

RANDOM 5 FRIDAY and WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

So let's get started with the party.  Click to Enlarge Photos.

1.  Yesterday my hubby saw his Primary Care Doctor again and asked him about being on the Plant Based Diet that the Cardiologist was trying to push him into.  He said he felt it would be okay if he followed more of the Mediterranean Diet and that it would hurt him if now and then he had say a piece of Pizza or a Hamburger as long as he didn't over do it and tried as much as possible to avoid junk food, processed foods and lots of sugary stuff.  I think we can deal with that a lot better then just eating plants.

(Saw these pretty spring flowers while out walking yesterday. - Edited with the Watercolor Effect on BeFunky.)

2. We still eat meat and I found a good recipe for Turkey Meatloaf that uses Granny Smith Apples in it.  Normaly I don't like meatloaf that much but I actually liked this recipe.  You can find it here at Dishing It Up With Lisa.
I didn't have any Panko Bread Crumbs so I substituted 1 cup of Oatmeal and I didn't have the Balsamic Vinegar so I used Apple Cider instead.  My crust didn't brown up like hers though so next time I'll try to have the right ingredients.  Speaking of turkeys.....

(Coleen and I spotted this wild turkey in someone's yard while on our way to the store last night.  I didn't have my camera with me so I hurried back home and got it hoping the turkey would still be there when I got back.  It was and I snapped several photos of it.  This is one of them.)

3.  I need to buy some new pants.  Prior to Mike's heart issue I had decided to see if I could lose weight and have now dropped almost 15 pounds.  My pants are getting quite loose.  It's hard for me to find jeans though that fit and are comfortable.  I'll be jean shopping later today & hope to find just the right type of comfy jean that isn't overly baggy looking.

4.  We are in the 60's this week and next.  It's so nice to see blue skies and sunshine.  While out walking the dog yesterday I spotted this little scene on someone's porch and I thought it was so spring like I just had to share it.

Don't you just love the pretty rainbow of color.

5.  A big Music Festival is planned for Walla Walla in August.  Artists,
Mumford and Sons and Foo Fighters are the artists listed as already being showcased along with other as yet unannounced artists. It's going to be quite something.  You can learn more about it here:  I've not heard of these artists as I'm still stuck in the 70's for music but here is a sample of Mumford and Sons .

I liked the tune of this song and the beat but the use of the (F-word) just isn't my thing.  Sorry but I don't find that necessary to get a point across.

Today instead of something "creepy" that I've seen in people's yards how about something sweet and lovely.   This little Angel with a Bird caught my eye.  I think she's adorable.  I just wish the dead looking rose bush next to her had been trimmed down a little.

Can't leave without sharing a (Cat) photo.  I spotted this kitty basking in the sunshine on someone's porch and snapped some photos.  It watched me at first quite intently and then settled down to go back to sleep while I snapped away.

Don't forget to stop by Nancy and Tanya's blogs and have some fun with Random and Willy-Nilly thought.  -  Have a great weekend.

Willy Nilly Friday Five #32 and Some Other Stuff

Happy Friday!

It's time to join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.  This is where you can share 5 Random thoughts, photo's etc....

1.  Remember last week I mentioned waking up to find a weird chalky white substance all over our van from the rain the night before.  If not check out last weeks post.  Anyway come to find out it's been the source of numerous speculations as to what it actually was.  It was said to be ash from various volcanoes around the world, from a dried alkali river bed in OR, dust from storms in CA, and even dust from the Hanford Nuclear Plant.  They still have no clue what it actually was.  I know what it was,  A messy substance that left everyone needing to wash their cars!

2.  We are FINALLY getting a new swimming pool in "Wally-world" again.  The old Memorial Pool closed in 2006 and kids have had to use other pools every since.  Last summer Coleen only took a couple of weeks lessons and we had to drive to nearby College Place for her to have a pool to swim in.  They put up a Bond issue here 3 different times and each time it failed.  This time it finally passed so the new pool should be ready by the summer of 2016.

3.  The sun was actually out a couple of days this week.  I took advantage and drove around looking for interesting stuff to photograph.  Remember last weeks creepy "gargoyle" I spotted.  Well check this out....

A Headless Angel....now that is creepy.  -  Funny thing the next time I drove by this house the head was back on the angel.

4.  Studies are showing that eating foods high in cholesterol now isn't really that bad for you. I was taking Lipitor for that problem and just recently I decided that I was not going to take it any more.  Partially because I've heard it causes some people to develop Diabetes and Liver Problems and partly due to the cost of the medication.  Now I have another reason to not take it.  Plus now I can once again eat,  Grapefruit.  I had one the other morning and it was delicious!

5.  Need a sweet treat to make your honey or loved ones for Valentine's Day?  A friend sent me this link and these sound delicious.

Spotted this plastic bag laying on a small toy chest around the house the other day and I noticed it was sending out a message.  (I added the words).

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.  You are loved and appreciated.

Now for a couple of cat art photos:

Spotted this cute mailbox while out and about the other day.  I added a texture to the photo.  Joining in for FELINE ART FRIDAY

also joining FELINE FRIDAY

Here is a sweet shot of Eric "the cat" laying on the couch last night.  We've been letting him come inside for a few hours every night and he's been making himself right at home.

That's is for today.  My camera is going to be out of commission again as I need to replace the USB port in it.  The prongs bent and broke today...there goes at least $100 to repair it, plus waiting around for it to be repaired and sent back.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day and a Great Weekend.
