4th of July 2024

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

I hope you are all enjoying summer. - We had a very nice and relaxing 4th of July here.  Didn't go anywhere but still had a nice day.

We had a dinner here at our house and food was prepared by me and by Adam/Greta (Adam grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and corn on the cob.)

I made some salads ( BBQ macaroni salad, a Southwest Coleslaw - Store mix on that one and Strawberry Fluff -so yummy!)

After dinner we relaxed and waited for it to get dark enough to set off our fireworks and of course watch the neighborhood fireworks as well.

Jojo looked cute in her new outfit.

Grandma had to get a picture with her just like I use to do with her big sister, Jupiter (Coleen).

Here is another cute shot of Jojo

Some of the yummy food we had.

Candid shot of Anna eating her hotdog.  I always seem to catch people at odd moments.

Jupiter decided to make a funny face
Not sure what Mike was doing when I snapped this one.

Adam and Greta in the kitchen finishing up the food prep before we ate.

Now the fireworks...

The older girls started out with small smoke bombs and those little things you throw that make a popping sound.

These were some of the fountain shots that Adam set off.

These shots were some of the big stuff neighbors around us were setting off.
Se

This is the first year I think that I've gotten decent pictures of them so I shared a bunch.

Happened to catch our cat, Maky in the window trying to paw the fireworks.

A few more of our stuff that Adam set off.

That's it for this years celebration.  Happy Birthday America!!!

Fourth of July Fun

So last year I didn't go out on the 4th of July as I was still recovering from having Shingles and it was blazing hot last summer.

This year, it rained in the morning but cleared off by midday.  So we walked up to the park to take in the booths & music.

One of the bands that played - They were a "bluesy" type of band.  Not bad but not my style of music.  I went to high school with the guy in the blue hat in front.

We had a barbecue and fixings at the house.  Invited my niece and her husband to join us. - We ran into them at the park and they didn't have anything planned for dinner.  It was fun having them join us.

Coleen took this shot of Grandma (that's me)  and little Joelle watching a sparkler.

A nearby neighbors fireworks, they get the big ones.

One of ours, we shot off some. Didn't go out to the local community fireworks (I wanted too but no one else did).

Had a pretty nice day all in all.

Willy Nilly Friday Five - July 19, 2019

Happy Friday!

Joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for:
WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

Playing "catch-up" on what's been happening the last 2 months.

1.  Coleen graduated from the 8th Grade in June.  It's hard to believe she will be starting High School in the Fall.  Here is a picture of her before we went to her graduation ceremony.

2.  She was a busy girl as she participated in a week long music camp and performed a number on the drums and sang.  There were 3 other girls who sang in her group number.

3.  During one of my photo outings I caught this shot of a Robin on the Sculpture at the Airport.

4.  On a drive with my mom up to Bennington Lake I thought this field and it's tracks made for an interesting photograph.

5.  Spotted this Pheasant out in a field on yet another drive with my mom.

6.  Getting the "Raspberry" from a deer we spotted on another drive.

7.  The 4th of July was nice.  We didn't go anywhere but made a great dinner that we ate at home and then went to watch the Fireworks.  Coleen loves to do Face Painting and Body art so she did herself up to celebrate the holiday.

8.  My photo that I took for 52 Frames (Edited by someone else) This was my edit:

and this was the edit that my partner did:

9.  I've been working a lot in the flower beds, weeding, watering etc...
This is a Rudbekia plant that I bought this year.  I think it's gorgeous.

That's it for me today.  Hope you all have enjoyed the photos and have a super great weekend.

Willy Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Yikes!  Summer is going by so quickly and I've not posted much about it.  Seems like I'm so busy trying to keep up with yard work, housework, taking care of my mom etc..that I barely have time to breath much less blog.  I miss it,  so every now & then I manage to do a post just to let you all know I'm still alive.

Joining Tom (The Backroads Traveller) for WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE
and Sandee (Comedy Plus) for FELINE FRIDAY

1. June was a nice cool month and we had a nice surprise on June 29th with a tiny rainshower and a rainbow.  This is the best shot I could manage of the rainbow....

Others were much luckier.  You can view their shots HERE and HERE

That same evening the sunset was just wonderful and I snapped this shot of it:

2. Drove up to Bennington Lake one evening and spotted these colorful kayaks out on the lake.

3.  I also found some Queen Anne's lace to photograph.

Here is an "artsy" edit of the same photo.

4.  On the way out of the lake I spotted a Quail sitting on a fence post.  I quickly pulled into a nearby turnout and quietly got out of the car and got as close as I could without spooking the quail.  I've always wanted to get a shot of a quail like this.  Sadly I didn't quite get the quail in good focus but it's not a bad shot and I'll keep working on getting just the perfect shot of a quail.

5.  We didn't go out of town over the 4th of July but we did manage a picnic at one of the local parks.  Below are shots of us having a good time.

6.  Bonus shot of one of the many hanging baskets in our down town.

Now for FELINE FRIDAY....

A shot of Bandit watching one of the other cats.  He has such gorgeous eyes.

It's a HOT one here this week.  The high today is expected to be 102 so I'm leaving you with this musical selection.

Have a great weekend.  For those of you in the "Heat Wave" areas stay cool and safe.
