Random 5 Friday - Cuteness Overload

Happy Friday! -  It's time for some random fun.  Won't you join me over at Nancy's blog (A Rural Journal) for RANDOM 5 FRIDAY

1. Kitten's are just so cute! - Don't you just want to pinch his little cheeks and go, "kotchy, kotchy, koo."

2.  Well I've been largely disappointed with the Olympics this time around.  The US won several events but lost a lot as well.  I'm not really a sore loser but I hate all the "political" crap that seems to abound now at these events and the "whining" when your team or athletes lose. Grow up already!

                                              Spooky and the Laser Toy

3.  I love it when I fix something for dinner and "everyone" enjoys it.  I made Chicken Enchilada's this past week and thought Coleen wouldn't like them because generally she doesn't like spicier type foods.  She ate it and actually loved them.

4.  Patience is not one of my better virtues.  I've been waiting for some test results from my dentist for nearly 2 weeks now.  Needless to say I'm not happy about the long wait.  I tend to worry a lot and think that something could be horribly wrong even though the dentist said not to worry about it. Yeah, right.

5.  I'm so happy that the snow melted and you can actually see some signs of spring outside now.  Still not very warm but hey you can't have everything.  I did catch this cute photo during our snow storm of a man taking his kid to school on a sled.

Finally some more cute photo's just for the fun of it.

Greta and Miss Dottie who loves to ride around on your shoulders.

Our little pug Cricket has a smile to share with you.

Finally it was "Mismatched" day at Coleen's school today.  Do you think she pulled it off!

Random 5 Friday

Good Day!  -  Yippee it's Friday.  So let's cut right to the chase and head on over to Nancy's blog (A Rural Journal) where we are once again posting
Random 5 Friday thoughts (minus Mr. Linky) so be sure to check the comment section for links to other people's blogs for their R5F thoughts.

1.  I've been trying to go for walks lately.  Why do I wait till the weather isn't that great to suddenly get the urge to exercise?  Anyway Monday afternoon Greta, Coleen and I took the dogs, Cricket and Pixie for a nice long walk. - All photos today are from that walk.

L-R  Cricket - Who wouldn't turn around. Greta (my daughter), Coleen and Pixie.  - They loved walking in the leaves.
Coleen enjoyed rolling down a hill.

2.  I bowled great on Tuesday (for a change)!  156-150-160  Always makes me feel great when I bowl three decent games.

3.  I went to the same dental appointment "twice" this week.  How you might be asking,  Well Wednesday I got up and after getting Coleen off to school I hurried home and headed off to my dental appointment.  Got there and said, "I'm here for my appointment."  -  The receptionist then proceeds to tell me (while trying not to laugh) that my appointment wasn't until Thursday!  -  I was positive that I had written it down for Wednesday.  Went home only to discover that I had it down for Thursday after all.

4.  Enjoy having coffee with my hubby after the 1st appointment on Wednesday that never happened due to the mix-up of when the appointment actual was.

5.  Getting ready today to work on making some Thanksgiving cards since I didn't send out Halloween this year and people were wondering what was wrong when they didn't get one!  Next will be Christmas cards,  I'd better be hustling with the card making.

Have a wonderful day and weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by.

Welcome Pixie

As many of you know from this post we had to put down my mom's dog, Rusty.  It was a hard choice but one we knew was best for the dog.  -  A few days later I called the local Humane Society to find out if they took donations of left over dog food and they said yes.  So I packed up all the left over food and treats and Coleen and I took them down to the Humane Society on Friday 14th.  While we were there we decided to visit the adoption center and look at the cats and dogs that were available.    Can you tell where this is leading?

We spotted this adorable little dog in one of the cages and she seemed so excited about us being there.  I took a snap shot of her with my phone (not the best phone for picture taking) and then drove back home to show it to my mom.  She thought the dog was cute and so I talked her into going down and seeing it in person.  They told us there that we could take the dog home for a 3 day trial to see how she did and if we wanted to adopt her after the trial we could or we could bring her back with no questions asked.  So off we went with a new little dog.  By Monday we'd decided that she was just so adorable and so sweet that we had to keep her.  So without further ado....let me introduce you to,

Pixie: (Her original name was Fluffy but since the neighbor's cat is named Fluffy and my mom really didn't like that name she picked out the name, Pixie because of her sweet little pixie like face.)  She's a long-haired Chihuahua (mix).  She's very friendly and loves to be held, petted and have her belly rubbed.  Just the right size dog for my mom to handle.  Although you probably won't see many pictures of my mom holding her because my mom hates her picture taken.

We introduced Pixie to Cricket and while Pixie isn't thrilled to be around another dog she does tolerate Cricket and they both get exercise chasing each other around the yard as my mom said we could let them play together in her back yard. For those who don't know my mom lives next door to us so it's easy for the dogs to play together.

Coleen adores Pixie and loves to spend time playing with her and holding her.

We think she makes a wonderful edition to the family.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - June 2, 2013

Hello! -  Hope you have had a great week.  It's been pretty decent here for the most part.  No real major disaster's to deal with and halfway decent weather.  -  So without further ado let's get on with Scavenger Hunt Sunday. - This week Ashley left it wide open for the prompts.  It's Photographer's Choice for all 5 prompts.  Easy peasy huh!  -  Click to Enlarge photo's.

#1 - It's our pug, Cricket.  It's so hard to get her to stand still for pictures so when I get a decent one I'm excited about it.  Plus in this shot I got her curly little tail which I find adorable.  Love how shiny her coat looks in this shot.

#2 - Flowers from my garden.  This one is a Wartburg Star Aster (there are geraniums, petunia's and marigolds in the background.)

#3 - Some wild grasses and a local fishing pond.

#4 - A view taken from the park where the fishing pond is located.  The building in the background is the Fair Pavilion building.  Off to the left a bunch of kids were playing soccer at the Middle school and our Blue Mountains are in the background as well.  Pretty scene.

#5 - I've always wanted to attend a Roller Derby match and thankfully we have a local team here in Wally World called the,  Walla Walla Sweets and tonight was their opening match.  Sadly the team lost 146-155 in the last 45 seconds of the match.  Better then the Junior Team which played prior to the adults.  They got their butts whooped.

Don't forget to stop by Ashley's blog and check out the other participants entries for the Hunt.  Have a great week.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - January 13, 2013

Click HERE for my Photo Art Friday entry.

A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go...Off now to join Ashley for
Scavenger Hunt Sunday

The prompts for this weeks hunt are:  Outside, Backside, Little Things, A Cup of... and
Reflect.

OUTSIDE:

Captured this little guy outside enjoying some of the bird/squirrel food I leave out.

BACKSIDE:

Our cat, Harley's backside.  He has a very long tail.

LITTLE THINGS:

Little things like chocolate covered cherries make me happy!

A Cup of....

Cocoa for Coleen.  She just love hot chocolate with mini marshmallows (come to think of it, so do I!)

REFLECT:

Our dog, Cricket (actually sitting still long enough for a picture) seems to have a reflective look in her face and her eyes also reflect her surroundings.

So does anyone notice anything different about my photo's this week?  Tell me what you think is different.

Whatever Wednesday - May 9, 2012

Hi,  Happy "Hump" Day! - Well it's time for my weekly feature, "Whatever" Wednesday where I post photo's of whatever I want. Last week was a (Bug) edition and I promised something that wasn't quite as gross so let's get started:

I edited all the photo's on PicMonkey and added some quotes/text.

Below each photo is the actual photo SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera).

Some beautiful clouds from a few weeks ago.

This little guy was peeking over the fence one day so I snapped a picture.

This is our dog, Cricket, She doesn't get featured on her very often so I thought I'd share a photo of her.  It's hard to get her to sit still long enough to take a good shot so I was happy when I was able to snap a close-up of her "mug!"

The parking strip area of my mom's yard has a bunch of these "weeds" growing in it.  The weeds have lots of little tiny purple flowers on them.  I thought it would be neat to get a macro shot of them.

So do you think they are "weeds" or unloved flowers!

Last Up I just couldn't leave Coleen out.  We had went to the school one evening so she could shoot some baskets and play on the toys.  I snapped this photo of her hanging upside down on one of the toys.

So that's it for this week.  I have a question,  When I post "edited" photo's like these do you want to see the Originals or would you just prefer the Edited Versions?  Let me know in the comment section.

Thanks for visiting.
