Willy Nilly Friday Five - Sept. 30, 2016

Welcome:  If you are here for either Good Fences or Little Things Thursday click on the highlighted link to be taken to that post.

Today's post is for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

1.  About 2 weeks ago we made another trip down to McNary Dam to see the Salmon as the "fall run" was going on.  We saw quite a few in the fish viewing room but it was hard to get photos of them.  On the way home we stopped at a road side information sign and I took a few pictures there.

This is the sign that tells about the history of the area.

Across the river (The Columbia) on a barren hill you can see a Vineyard.

2. We had rain recently and I went out and snapped a few "raindrops on roses" shots. - Soon the roses will be finished blooming as the days are getting cooler.

3.  Along with the Orb Weaver spider I've mentioned before and shared last week we discovered a large garden spider in my flower bed.  Coleen and I have been enjoying watching both spiders as they've spun webs and captured bugs to eat in them.  Here is the Garden Spider with last night's supper.

4.  Coleen decided to play Volleyball this year.  It's been fun going to her games and watching her play.  I did a little collage of some of the shots I've taken at her games.

If you enlarge the collage above you will notice in the first shot how she is chewing on her lip.  She does that a lot during the games.  In the middle photo she is waiting to hit the ball as it comes over the net and at the right she is serving.  One of the things she does best.

5.  Finally because I haven't posted a recent photo of our newest kitten, (Caramel Honeybun) I thought I would share this sweet photo of her.

She is growing so quickly and is such a little character.  Life is always fun when you have cats & kittens around.  Never a dull moment for sure.

Hope you have enjoyed the Random 5 this week.  Don't forget to stop in and check out the other participants.  Have a great weekend.

Good Fences - December 4, 2014

Hello & Welcome.  -  If you are visiting here and looking for the Fill The Cookie Jar post click on the link and you'll be taken right to the post.

This is my 2nd post today.  It's a good day to stay inside.  For the second day in a row here school has been delayed 2 hours due to icy road conditions.  It's so not fun being out in this weather.  I did manage to get Coleen to school yesterday and take my mom to her doctor's appointment as the roads had cleared up enough to drive on them safely.  But enough about the weather.

Let's join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES.

My fence today is one that I was actually photographing when the squirrel from last weeks fence caught my attention.  After I snapped the shots of the squirrel I went back and took these photos of this lovely concrete block fence.  It bordered  the property of an Apartment complex.

These photos were taken about a month ago (Nov. 6th) and the fall foliage was still evident as you can see by the lovely trees behind the concrete wall.  Don't you just love the pretty red roses that were outside the wall and still blooming. - (They aren't now).

I liked the pretty lamps on top of some of the posts and the moss that was growing on the blocks in places.

A peek through one of the patterns on the wall at a Hydrangea that was still blooming.  I like the pretty greenery paired with that blue flower.

Another view facing the other direction.  Again you can see the fall trees, the roses, the lamp posts and the pattern withing the blocks.

Finally while this isn't a fence I thought it worthy of sharing.

The sign outside the Apartment Complex had this wonderful leaf pattern painted on it.  I didn't take a photo of the entire sign since the address of the complex was also on the sign.  I just thought it was neat and hope you do as well.

Don't forget to join in on the fun and check out the other great fences.

Please excuse my lack of visiting blogs this week.  I was sick Monday and it's just been a very hectic week trying to keep up with everything.  I will do my best to check out your blogs and comment as time allows.

Have a great day.

Sugar Frosted Petals

Old man winter has arrived with some chilly temperature's expected here for the next few days.  It was only 20 degrees out this morning when I walked Coleen to school.  Brrrr.....I walked fast on the way home in an effort to stay warm.  I decided to see what kind of frosty goodness I could find in the yard and discovered the last lone rose blooming on one of my bushes had been dusted with a "sugar" coating of frost on it's petals.

Staying warm inside now with nice hot coffee and my little heater.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - October 6, 2013

Welcome:  I will be doing 2 separate posts today.  One for Scavenger Hunt Sunday and the other for Song-ography.  -  Please click on the link to the one you want and you'll be taken right to that post.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY:

SONGOGRAPHY

Scavenger Hunt Sunday is hosted by the fabulous and talented Ashley Sisk (Ramblings and Photos).

This weeks prompts:  Something Colorful, Light, You, In Motion, Afternoon.

I will say up front that not all of these photo's were taken this week.  However all were taken within the last 3 months and have never been posted on my blog.

SOMETHING COLORFUL:

This is a shot of the Happy Canyon Fair Court taken at our parade in late August.  I love the "colorful" costumes they are wearing along with their horses.

LIGHT:

Okay I just realized this photo was actually taken in 2012 but since I like it and haven't posted it before I'm using it.  -  I also have a current photo that I took today to share for this prompt. - This is one of the lights on the outside of the school Coleen attends.

LIGHT (again):  I love the play of sun"light" on the bees wings and the petals of the rose.

YOU: - I'm guessing this meant a picture of me.  I hate having my picture taken and am not great at "selfies" but I took this shot while at the beach attending my niece's wedding 2 weeks ago.

IN MOTION:

Mexican Dancer's preforming at the school carnival last month.  I love the "motion" of their skirts.  -  This could also work for the colorful prompt.

AFTERNOON:

Coleen and I took an "afternoon" drive and I shot this view of the fields and mountains.  The field in the foreground is, Chickpeas' aka (Garbanzo Beans).

A little "Dreamy" and a little "Orange"

It's 2-fer Friday here on my blog today.  I'll be showcasing, Orange You Glad It's Friday and after a short hiatus Bonnie, Pixel Dust Photo Art is sharing in the fun of
Photo Art Friday again.

First up for Orange You Glad It's Friday:

This is one of my favorite roses.  It's called, Tropical Sunset and has wonderful variegated petals that range from yellow, orange and red tones. I forgot to write down the texture that I used but I believe it is one from Nancy at A Rural Journal.

Next up on Photo Art Friday the theme this time is:  Dreamy or Ethereal.

This is a photo of one of my Clematis plants with textures added and some special effects courtesy of Pic Monkey.  I added a quote as well.  I love how this turned out.

Please drop by both Maria and Bonnie's blogs and check out the great photo's and photo art pieces.  -  Have a wonderful weekend.
