Willy Nilly Friday Five - February 1, 2019

Welcome!

Finally finding some time to post on the blog again.

Before I get started I want to thank each and everyone who sent such wonderful messages on the loss of our cat, Ghost.  It meant a lot to us to know people understood and cared.  We were able to bring his ashes home yesterday and have a nice photo of him to join the "memorial shelf" of our furry family members that have crossed the rainbow bridge.

So let's get started on WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tom, (The Backroads Traveller).

It seems like January went by far to quickly.  Of course that's because it's usually a very busy month for us. What with New Years celebrations and then the take down of all the holiday decorations it keeps us quite busy.

Plus we have back-to-back Birthday celebrations.

1.  First up my mom's 90th birthday

Had almost all the family over for her party.  She had a great birthday.

Followed up the next night with Coleen's 14th birthday.  Just the immediate family for her event.   We both bowled in a Junior/Adult tournament on her birthday.

She had a friend spend the night with her on Sunday and this happened.

2.  Our very first snowfall of the winter.

That's suppose to be a Goblin that they created. - The snow was melted and gone by the 2nd day.

3. Took a drive the day after and the sun was out.  The mountains looked so pretty all covered in snow.

4.  Mom got an Amarylis plant for Christmas and it bloomed this week.  So pretty.

5.  Finally a new edition to the family....

I just felt so bad after Ghost passed away and had nightmares about finding him dead like I did.  I know we didn't need another cat but you all know me by now.  We have a lot of love in our hearts for our animals and I'd like to introduce you to....

                                                       Gidget Ghost
Yes we gave her Ghost for a middle name. - It seemed fitting.  We started out calling her Gizmo but that just didn't seem to fit her personality so we decided on Gidget instead.

Her she is laying with Caramel - They look like they could be related don't they.

She is fitting in quite nicely already.  Only 1 of the cats (Speedy G) seems upset about her being here.  He'll get use to her though.

She's a real sweet heart and has the best purr.  We love her already.

Thanks for your visit and I hope to get by and visit a few blogs this week.

Willy Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday - November 3, 2017

Welcome! - Wow it's hard to believe it's November already. Time sure goes by quickly anymore.

Joining in today for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

Also joining in for FELINE FRIDAY

First up for Feline Friday:

This is my hubby, Miss Dottie, Caramel Honeybun & Speedy G all napping together.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for Willy-Nilly Friday Five:

Click to enlarge photos:  - This first one is yucky so if you are squeamish don't look.

1.  A few weeks ago my hubby was working on some table tops sanding the old finish off of them so they could be refinished.  - He came inside and yelled out that I needed to take him to the hospital.  Seems he set the sander down and went to pick it up and somehow hit the switch back on....

Took that finger nail completely off!  - It's healed up now but looks pretty weird since the nail is gone.  It could have been so much worse but this still looks pretty gross.

2.  We have had a beautiful fall this year.  Here is one of my favorite trees in town.  - It turns this gorgeous red color and it's the only one right there that changes color but it looks so pretty with the other trees.

 3. I've been baking again.  Tried out this recipe for Brown Sugar Pecan Cookies and boy were there delicious.

 4.  Coleen spotted a moth on my mom's porch one morning.  We decided to put it on some flowers and while we were moving it it landed right on Coleen's chest.  We snapped a shot of it and then it landed on an old television set before finally flying off.

5.  While out shooting fall scenes a couple of weeks ago I captured this shot of our Blue Mountains with freshly fallen snow on them.  Oh how I dread winter but it sure looks pretty here.

Bonus photo:  Had to share this big spider scene that is right across the street from where we live.

In closing a musical selection for the season. Neil Young - Harvest Moon.

 Have a great weekend.

Good Fences #86 - Rusty, Twisted & Blue

Welcome! - Let's join Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report) for GOOD FENCES.

Did you ever set out to take a photo of something specific and unexpectedly find yourself discovering something totally different?  - Well that's what happened to me the other day.  I had went for a drive to photograph a couple of specific things that I'd seen and wanted pictures of.  As I was driving I spotted the freshly fallen snow on our Blue Mountains .  I stopped to take this lovely photo (which does have a fence in it) and as I was getting ready to roll the window back up and drive off I happened to glance to my left at the field next to where I was parked.

What do you know here was this really cool rusty fence rail with some barbed wire and some twisted wire.  Naturally I had to get a photo of it so I could share for Good Fences.

I found this to be a very unexpected but pleasant surprise.  I hope as you are out and about that you find unexpected photograph opportunities too.

Have a wonderful day & don't forget to stop by Theresa's blog to check out the other great fences.

Things I am thankful for today:

1.  The "unexpected surprise" like today's fence find.

2. That we had a nice group of girls show up yesterday for the Girls Club.  We watched the movie, Soul Surfer about Bethany Hamilton and they all enjoyed it.

3.  That my hubby is starting to get some work coming in.  He just got his General Contractor's license and now that he's retired from the construction company he worked for he is setting out on his own.  It's a scary but exciting time for him.

4. For the crows and other birds and the squirrels that I feed.  It's so fun to look at the window and watch their antics.

5.  For pretty autumn foliage to look at.

Wordless Wednesday - Fire

Joining Wordless Wednesday

I know this is supposed to be "wordless" but I ask you all to pray for the 400+ Firefighters battling this blaze in our beloved Blue Mountains.  It's already burned nearly 4500 acres.  So far no lives lost.

It's been HOT & DRY here with no rain in sight.
