Friday Randoms

If you are looking for my GOOD FENCES post click on the link.

Now let's have some "random" fun by joining Nancy (A Rural Journal) and Tanya (Around Roanoke) for: Random Five Friday and Willy-Nilly Friday Five

RANDOM FIVE FRIDAY:

1.  I've been participating in a Photography Group called,
52 Frames.  Each week you are assigned a challenge or theme to photograph.  This particular week the challenge was the color, Red.  I thought a lot about it and then my "sick sense of humor" kicked in and I decided to do a Lobster Boil using Coleen's stuffed lobster.  Here is the photo I submitted for the challenge.  The story of the Lobster Boil will continue in my Willy Nilly photos so be sure to check out the entire post.

2.  My mom & I went last Friday to get haircuts.  I decided to do something different with my hair and I went "short"  It's been about 30 years since I had hair this short.  The first day after I got it cut I sunburned my neck!  I had Coleen take a picture last night (I hate having my picture taken) so you can see the "new-do."

3.  Last Saturday Coleen and I went up to the Park for the annual, "Spring Fling" as they call it.  It's basically a lot of different vendors that you can browse through but they have performers throughout the day & a car show.  I thought this Purple car was pretty neat looking so I took a picture of it.

4.  For Mother's Day I received this lovely rainbow colored spinner.

I also got a smaller one but haven't yet taken a picture of it to share.

5.  You haven't seen Piglet (our cat that lives next door at my mom's) in a long time.  I snapped a picture of him lounging on her floor last night to share.

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE:

1.  Lobster Tale (Tail) continued....So during my photo shoot I got the brilliant (or not so brilliant) idea to turn the burner on to make it more realistic.  I shot several photos and then decided I had enough so I turned the burner off and went to take Coleen's lobster out of the pot.  To my horror I discovered that the heat had melted his tail!

I spent almost 2 hours sewing his tail back together enough that it looked halfway decent.  Needless to say everyone had a good laugh about my lack of common sense.  I guess we photographers will do just about anything for a photo shoot!

2.  Sharing another of the 52 Frames challenges.  This one was Macro shooting.  It's not a super close-up but I loved how pretty this photo turned out.

3.  Another of the cars from the car show.

4.  This week my 2 nieces and my great nephew were able to come for lunch.  It was a very "late" birthday lunch for my niece, Shelby.  They always come for Maccaroni & Cheese.  My niece, Krissy brought her little boy, Izak as well.  He's such a darling little boy.  I took some pictures of him.  The settings on my camera were off a little from experimenting for another challenge but I think this shot of him is cute so I'm sharing it.

5. Finally a photo of my poppy plant as I learned last night how to finally get the color orange to look orange on my camera and not yellow-orange!

That's it for me this week.  Don't forget to stop in and visit Nancy & Tanya's blogs.

Have a great weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - September 21, 2014

Hello!  -  It's time to go on a "hunt" or rather a Scavenger Hunt.  Let's join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY.

This weeks prompts are:  WINDOW, SQUARE, PICTURE IN PICTURE, CURVE and PATTERN.

Let's get started:

WINDOW:  This is my one and only "archive" shot this week.

My favorite car from the car show I went to a few weekends ago is this 1956 T-Bird and my favorite feature on the car are those adorable round windows.

SQUARE:  Out and about today on a drive I spotted some baled hay and thought it would work for the Square prompt.

They aren't really square but there is a square within the bales.

PICTURE IN PICTURE:  This one sort of stumped me.  Then I remembered a scene from the movie,  The Electric Horseman starring, Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.

(That's a picture of our TV with the scene from the movie).
The dialog for this picture from the movie:

Ampco Industries PR Man: Grace, why don't you stand in front of that poster with Sonny, and Steve can take your picture to bring home.

Sonny Steele: Oh, no, why don't you just take a picture of Grace in front of that picture of me with that box with the picture of me on the box holding the picture of me with the picture of me? Then you've got Grace, and you've got a whole bunch of pictures of me.

CURVE:

A curve in the road where we stopped to take some pictures of some wild turkeys.

PATTERN:

A pattern created in a farmer's plowed field.

Rubbish Tuesday

I'm off to the bowling alley shortly but wanted to pop in and say hello & thank eveyrone who's visited, followed, commented etc...recently.  You are truly appreciated.

So today I'm joining in on Rubbish Tuesday (Rubbish by Roan) with this entry from the recent car show that I attended.

My favorite feature besides the old rusty horseshoes is the bucket in front.

Have a great day.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - September 14, 2014

Hello.  I hope you all had a great week.  It was a nice one here.  Enjoying some late summer weather with temps expected to be back in the 90's for a few days.

So this week I'm joining in with Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY .  The prompts were:  Stripes, Packed, Travel, Too Cute and Favorite.

Since my camera was off for repairs I had to do the hunt through my Archieved Photos this week.

STRIPES:

How about "Stars and Stripes" - I took this shot when we attended the Charlie Daniel's concert.  Those weird black spots you see are crows flying past.

PACKED:

This was one of the old cars in the Car Show we attended last weekend.  I loved all the bags and such packed on top the van.

TRAVEL:

We don't often get to travel during the summer but on occasion we take a short drive (that counts as travel doesn't it) someplace close by.  Early in May of this year Coleen, my mom & I drove up to Tollgate one day.  We were surprised to find that the lake was still iced over.  What was even weirder was that it was only 50 degrees up there but down in the valley which is only about 1/2 hours drive away it was in the 70's.

TOO CUTE:

Watching our newest cat, Spooky-boo playing with a spinning top of Coleen's was just too cute.

FAVORITE:

I recently took pictures of sunflowers at Coleen's school (see my Good Fences entry this past week) and this was my favorite photo of the sunflowers.

So that's it for this hunt. -  I hope you enjoyed your stay and will check out the other participants as well.

Good News:  My camera has been repaired and is on it's way back home!!!

Friday Fun

Hello & Happy Friday!

Let's have some fun today.
http://mymemoryart.blogspot.com/2014/09/six-word-friday-sing.html

First Six Word Friday - Hosted by Adrienne from My Memory Art.
This weeks theme:  Sing.

How about some Feline Fun - Joining Steve from The Burnt Food Dude for Feline Friday.

This is one of our cats, Callie-Jo.  I was washing the sheets and found her on the bed like this when I went into the room.  I went and got my camera really fast and snapped this shot of her.  One of her nicknames is, "Wonky Cat" because she has the silliest looking face and this proves it.

Next let's head over to Tanya's blog (Around Roanoke) for Willy-Nilly Friday 5

1.  Good News....My new Son-in-law got a job!  He's working for a Truss company obvisouly building Trusses.  He started Wednesday.

2.  I finally got my camera sent off for repairs this week.  I can track it's progress and it arrived this morning at the place that is going to look at it to see if they can fix it.  In the mean time I tried taking some photos with my old Point-n-Shoot camera.  Boy am I "rusty" using it. Lots of very blurred shots.   Not having my camera makes me feel like this....

This by the way is one of Coleen's stuffed toys.  It's a Lobster that I bought for her.  Doesn't he make you laugh!

3. Just wanted to share another photo from last weeks Car show.  There weren't just cars there as there were a few bikes there as well.  I liked this one.

4. Do you ever just share a photo for no other reason then you just like how it turned out.  Well that's what this one is for.

There is just something about the pretty blue sky and these huge leaves that I find appealing.  I hope you do as well.

5.  Today is my daughter's 30th birthday.  No photos though since the camera isn't here to document the event.  Bummer!  So I guess I should follow the advice I found on the back of one of the cars at last weeks Car Show.

This is good advice for anyone who is unhappy about , their job, their family, their country and life in general.

Finally joining Hilary for Follow Friday for Fill-In Fun

The Statements:

The statements:
  1. The beach is _____
  2. Smartphones are ____
  3. I like to ____
  4. My dream ______________ would be _____________
My Answers:

1.  The beach is way to far away for me to visit very often.  It's atleast a 5-6 hour drive to the nearest beach.

2.  Smartphones are taking over people's brains.  Seriously no one seems to be able to think on their own or do anything without their phones now days.  It's really sad in my opinion to see people not talking to each other but rather playing on their phones.

3.  I like to blog and take lots of pictures.

4.  My dream vacation would be a trip to Ireland.

Have a super great weekend.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - September 7, 2014

Hello & Welcome.   -  I hope you have all been enjoying a nice weekend.

It's been a good week.  The first week of school is now under our "belts" so to speak and so far the Granddaughter (Coleen) is enjoying being in the 4th grade.  -  We took our first trip back to the Frozen Yogurt shop this Friday as is our tradition on Friday's after she gets out of school.  We had a good time eating the Yogurt and visiting with each other.

So now it's time to join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for,
SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY    This weeks prompts were:  Color, View, Stroll, Outfit and Blocks.

I always love it when people are able to combine all the prompts into one event and even more so when I can pull it off.  That's exactly what happened this week.  Yesterday we attended the annual "Wheelin' Walla Walla" car show held downtown.  So without further ado here are my takes on the prompts.

COLOR:  There were cars of every color imaginable there at the show but this color combo caught my eye.

Isn't that a cool color combination - Very bright and shiny too.

VIEW:  Here's a different view of the car show:

I caught my hubby's reflection as he was chatting with someone at the show in this tire rim.  Funny thing is I also caught myself taking the photo.

STROLL:  There were lots of folks strolling down the street looking at all the cars in the show.

OUTFIT:  The art work on this car was something else.   I can't image what the rest of the outfit looked like.

BLOCKS:  Okay these aren't exactly traditional "blocks" but they are blocked shaped.

I had the worst time getting pictures of orange cars for some reason.  This car is actually orange (not yellow like the photo).  Below is the actual color of the car just so you can see what I'm talking about.  It was either the angle or the way the sun was shining on the car but I could not for the life of me get the above picture with the fuzzy dice and the car to match up the orange colors.

We had a lot of fun walking around looking at all the different cars at the show.  I'll share more photos of the show soon.

Sadly my camera is now in need of repair so I may be without it for awhile.  I'll try to participate with my old Point-n-Shoot the best I can until I get my camera back.
