Willy Nilly Friday Five - September 16, 2016

It's been several weeks now since I've participated in Willy-Nilly Friday Five (hosted by Tanya from Around Roanoke)  so it's good to finally be back posting something.

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE
Today I'll post some Random Photos & Happenings (the photo's won't necessarily match the random thoughts).

1.  Sometimes while out on a photo hunt I discover things that I wasn't even looking for.  This particular day I was looking for fence shots when I happened to find a really cool rock garden in someone's yard.  They had some of the neatest plants.  This was one of them.

2.  Bowling League Started on the 6th.  So far for the two weeks we've bowled now on league I've done fairly well.  Scores: 138-176-121 the first week, 137-157-149 the second week.  So I'm averaging out at my normal 145 Average so far.  Hoping to improve but one week my back was hurting and this last week I had a cut (cat scratch) on my finger so I've been a tad injured the first couple of weeks.  Don't you love "Bowling Excuses!"

No it's not a bowling ball - See I told you the photos wouldn't match the randome facts.  Just one of the rides at the Fair I shot over the Labor Day weekend. - This one is called,  The Spider.  Speaking of spiders....

Here is the butt end of a "Cat Faced Orb Weaver" spider that's hanging around on my mom's front porch.  It's not the greatest photo but you can see where they get their name from the cat like features on it's back end.

3.  Coleen is enjoying Middle School a lot more than I thought she would.  She loves Home & Family Life, (We called it Home Economics) and her Writing Class.  This week they had Open House and I got to meet her teachers and everyone has said what a "joy" it is having Coleen in their classes and how bright, polite, insightful, helpful etc...she is.  It's always good to hear things like that.

Here she is enjoying another of the rides (Rock Star) at the Fair.  Loving the expressions on the two boys faces.

4.  Gearing up for the start of the new television shows we like to watch.  I've already started watching Dancing With The Stars, what an interesting group of celebraties they have this season.  Next week NCIS starts and we enjoy both the first show and the New Orleans show.  This shot from the Mardi Gras ride at the fair reminds me of that show because they are always showing scenes of life in New Orleans, it looks like a fun city.

5.  Finally yesterday I made mention of a special  "little announcement" which I've been keeping quiet about all week. -  Most of you know that last week we had to put down our sweet 16 year old cat, Snickers.  It was such a hard thing to do & again I thank everyone for their wonderful & kind condolences on her passing.  She will never be forgotten.

I had said that there was "No Way" we were getting another cat after she was gone.....

Well guess what?

I'd like to introduce you all to the newest member of our household.  Please meet:

Caramel  "Honeybun" Krause

We adopted here on Saturday from the Humane Society.  She is already fitting right in with the other 8 cats we have.  Caramel is her official name but her middle name is "Honeybun."

She's a (Daddy's Girl) though and loves spending time doing this with him.

Although she has slept with me like that a few times as well.  She is such a little character.  It's amazing how fast they win your heart.  And just because she's so adorable you get one more photo of her.

Having her around has made the hurt and pain of losing Snickers so much easier to bear.

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your Week End.

Seasons - It's Fair Time

First I want to extend a Heartfelt Thank You to everyone who commented on my last post about losing our sweet Snickers last Friday. - It meant so much to us to know you all cared & understood our loss and how hard it was to say good-bye to her.

Last weekend was our local Fair & Rodeo.  I didn't post then because we were still dealing with a very sick kitty at the time and hoping that we wouldn't have to make the decision to put her down.

So today for SEASONS  hosted by Jesh I am sharing a few of the shots I took at the Fair.

What's a Fair without Food (although we didn't eat any there this year as it's always so expensive and I needed the money I had available so Coleen could go on the rides and play games.)  - Still I love all the colorful booths and flags so I just took pictures instead.

One of Coleen's favorite rides is called, Wipe Out.  Here she is enjoying this ride.  Since Grandma doesn't do rides and she had no friends along she often sat by herself on the rides.

They had a couple of Longhorns that they were giving people rides on.  I snapped this guy as he was getting his saddle put on.  They sure are gorgeous animals.

This ride is called, The Tornado - The ride to the right in the photo is,
The Zipper. - Coleen loved this ride, it was her first time going on it.  She rode it a couple of times.

The majestic Tiger from the Wild Animal display they had at the fair.

We spent 4 1/2 hours there and I took lots of photos (which I'll share more later on).  It was a fun but tiring day.

Don't forget to stop in on Jesh's blog and check out the other particpants for Seasons. - Have a great day.

Friday Randoms and More - September 11, 2015

Welcome!

There will be a lot going on in this post today.  Be sure to read the entire post for the different memes. (Feline Art, Feline Friday, Six Word Fridays and Willy Nilly Friday Five) - I promise you they are all here.  I do this so as not to have to create several posts.

Joinging Tanya (Around Roanoke) for WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

1.Today is a day that will forever be etched in my memory.  To all who died that day & to all who serve to protect our rights and freedom  I thank you.

2.  Thought I would share a cute photo of this baby tiger that they had on display at the Fair last week.  It was part of an exhibit from the Walk on The Wild Side animal rescue in Oregon.  Click on the link to read more about this place.  Coleen loved this exhibit and adores animals of all kinds.  She would like someday to work with helping to save animals.

3.  We had rain last week and it was wonderful.  I took a shot of the raindrops on one of my roses and just wanted to share it with you.

This made me think of the line from Mary Poppins - Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens.  - These ARE a few of my favorite things.

4.  I walked out the front door the other day and was scared by a really shrill cry of a bird.  Looking around I spotted this woodpecker sitting on the telephone wires.  I'm not sure what type of a woodpecker this is so those of you who know can help me identify it.  -  I've seen it a few times eating some of the seeds/corn we leave out for the birds and squirrels but it always flies off before I can get a picture.  This time I got lucky.

5.  Sharing a piece of carnival art.  The side of one of the rides at the fair.  Don't they look like a fun loving bunch!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joining Adrienne (My Memory Art) for SIX WORD FRIDAYS.   - The prompt this week was,  Green.

I'm not very poetic at times so today I searched for a quote that would fit the (6) word theme and found a photo in my archives that I really liked and paired them together.  Below is the result.

I am also including this You Tube Video of my favorite song about the color green.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also Joining FELINE ART & FELINE FRIDAY with the following:

This is our neighbors cat, Ghost whom we've sort of adopted and taken under our wing.  We feed him and recently took him to the vet because he had an abcess on one of his paws.  Oddly our Vet will not allow us to have him neutered even though the owners signed a paper stating we could.  They said we'd have to claim ownership of the cat and tell our neighbors etc....which is so stupid.  We've been taking care of him since he was a kitten basically feeding him and such so he's pretty much our cat.  We'll find another way to have him neutered because he needs to be as it helps to control the unwanted pet population.

Have a fantastic weekend and thank you for stopping by.

Songongraphy (I want to Break Free) and Scavenger Hunt Sunday - September 8, 2013

Welcome:  This post will include (Song-ography) and (Scavenger Hunt
        Sunday)

Won't you join me as we go on a musical journey called,  Song-ography brought to you by the uber talented Kathy, You'll Shoot Your Eye Out.

This weeks song:  I Want To Break Free by Queen.

I went through some of my photos and found one of a lone seagull in a clear blue sky that I liked.  To me the soaring bird exudes,  Freedom!
Since the original lacked that pizzazz I wanted I added a cloud texture to the shot that just made it have the perfect feel that I was looking for.

I won't wax philosophical about being "free" but I am sure that all of us have something in our lives that we want to "Break Free" from at one time or another.  I hope whatever it is in your life that you find the freedom that you are seeking.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now it's time to join Ashley (Ramblings and Photos) for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

This weeks prompts:  Labor Day/Work, Phone Call, Pill(s), Up Close and White Space.

LABOR DAY:  Okay this photo was actually taken Labor Day weekend and features Coleen on one of the Fair Rides.

PHONE CALL:  For this shot I told Coleen to pretend she was talking on the phone while I took pictures.  She complied and I was snapping away.  After I uploaded the shots I decided to go with this one...

After so long of a time without dialing you get that annoying lady who tells you that if "You'd like to make a call, please hang up and try your call again."  Well she must have came on and Coleen was looking into the receiver and telling her to, "Be Quiet and Go Away".  I thought it was much funnier and cuter then her pretending to talk on the phone so I went with it.

PILL:  Pills aren't just for humans:

Our kitty, Snickers has to take these.

UP CLOSE:  Coleen's Cherry Tomato's.  Check out that tiny one.  It looks fairly large in the photo but it was actually barely the size of her pinkie fingernail.

WHITE SPACE:  This one always throws me.  I'm never sure if I've got it right or not.  I'll include the 2 shots I have and you let me know if they qualify for the "White Space" photography idea.

That's it for this weeks hunt.  I hope you have enjoyed your stay.

    Songography and SHS - Sept. 1, 2013

Hello & Welcome.  It's time to join in on the fun of Songography and Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

First up is,  Song-ography brought to by Kathy from You'll Shoot Your Eye Out.  This weeks song is:  If I Had a Million Dollars by The Bare Naked Ladies.  -  I must confess to never hearing this song until I listened to it off Kathy's blog.  I'm just not up on current musical groups I guess.

The song is about what you would do if you had a million dollars.  Oh the possibilities...I'd love to say that I'd donate it to a worthy charity or something noble but if I was honest I'd have to say that I'd probably spend it on things like a new house, a new car, do some traveling, help out my family etc...or perhaps I'd buy one of these and ride around town like a big shot. - Not really but doesn't it look cool.

Now let's move on to Scavenger Hunt Sunday brought to you by Ashley from Ramblings and Photo's.

This weeks prompts:  Down, Shadow, Flow, Tip and Beyond.

All prompts this week were taken at the local Fair or Fair Parade.
CLICK TO ENLARGE - The detail is so much better on this next shot if you do.

DOWN:  I love this shot.  Just look at the expressions on the faces.

    SHADOW:

This horse was doing some dance moves during the parade and I caught this shadow shot of rider and horse.

    FLOW:

Coleen and my niece were blowing up balloons here in a race to see who could pop their balloon first.  I caught the flow of their water guns in this shot.  I'm happy to say that Coleen won and got to choose another stuffed animal for her growing collection.  She was pleased as punch.

    TIP:

Coleen trying unsuccessfully to not tip over in this big inflatable ball.  She had a blast in rolling around inside that ball.  Well worth the $8 I paid to let her do it.

BEYOND:  Just one of the views from beyond the top of the Ferris Wheel.

That's it for this week.  Don't forget to stop by Kathy & Ashley's blogs to check out the other participants.  Have a great week.
