Willy-Nilly Friday Five and Feline Friday

Welcome!

Joining in today for Willy-Nilly Friday Five hosted by Tom,
(The Backroads Traveller) and  Feline Friday hosted by Sandee, (Comedy Plus).

Let's get started on WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE

We took a drive this week up Tollgate to the lake where my hubby is doing some work on a cabin up there.  Today's photos are from that trip.

1.  First up, a view of the Blue Mountains from the E.J. Haney Viewpoint.  Notice the crows in the trees on the right.

2.  We stopped at the Tollgate Store to get some snacks and outside the store was this (weird) metal sculpture.

It's a badger catching salmon.  After researching I'm not sure if this was a Bear or a Wolverine but it's not a Badger as they are much cuter that that.   It looks really ferocious and scary.

3.  One of the fancier cabins on the lake.

You have to be a member to use the lake and there is a gate with a code that you need to get inside as people actually live there year round.

4. We didn't see any deer on the way up (except for some horses which I made the mistake of saying, "Look at those big deer" before I realized they were horses) now I'll never live that one down.  Yes I do know the difference! - Anyway while we were looking at the lake this lovely deer was just walking by and munching on grass.

It seemed almost "tame" and hubby says it's there almost everyday.

5.  Some pretty wildflowers growing by a post on the ground.

6.  Can't leave hubby out since he's the reason we took the drive.  Here he is hard at work.

7.  On our way out we spotted this little family happily swimming on the lake.  I'm not sure what kind of birds these were but I'm "guessing" perhaps some type of a Loon.

All in all a very pleasant drive up and back.

Now for FELINE FRIDAY

Today we have, Speedy G just lounging around.  I love how he lays with his paws spread out in front like that.  He has to sometimes because he has such a big fat belly...see the next shot.

We call him,  "Sumo Kitty" because of that belly!

He has such a sweet little face that I just couldn't resist sharing this shot too.

Leaving you today with a lovely musical selection to enjoy

One of my favorite songs by the Eagles....I hope we all have a Peaceful Easy feeling type of weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.

Willy-Nilly Friday 5 - June 16, 2017

 Welcome!

I'm back today joining Tanya (Around Roanoke) for:

WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE.

Click to enlarge photos for better view.

1.  Summer continues to be super busy.  Lots of yard work being done. I spent 2 1/2 hours outside yesterday weeding, watering and planting a few more flowers.  It's a lot of hard work but they sure are pretty to look at.

2.  A few weeks ago I was in my mom's back yard looking into her planter box to see if the Mums had survived the winter.  I happened to notice something really strange inside the box and took a closer look.   Here is what I found.

Sorry the picture isn't clearer but I think you can tell that this is indeed a,
Peanut Plant.  It seems one of the squirrels dropped this peanut inside the planter and amazingly it germinated. - Mind you peanuts don't sprout from Roasted Peanuts as a rule so apparently this one didn't get fully roasted as it germinated and I'm now growing a peanut plant.  Here is what the plant looks like today:

It should be interesting to see if in the fall I pull the plant up and have peanuts.

3.  I've been participating now for my 2nd year in a Photography Group called, 52 Frames and each week you are given a prompt to photograph.  Today I'm sharing a small collage of 4 of my recent entries.

Top L - Abandoned was the theme.  That's an old tire lodged in a tree behind our house.  Top R - Geometric Shapes was the theme. - I turned one of my glass bowls upside down for that photo. Bottom L - Shadows was the theme.  That is my newest yard spinner.  That photo made the top 52 picks of the week. - Bottom R - This weeks theme: Think.  - This is the Thinking Frog statue located here in Walla Walla.

4.  Does anyone know what this is?

It looks like snow doesn't it? It's not...We have a lot of these trees in this area and every summer people all over who have allergies wish we didn't.  These are the seeds from a Cottonwood Tree.  If you click on the link you can read more about different types of these trees.

5.  Finally the other day my hubby came home and said that I need to take a drive down one of the streets in town to look at something he though I would enjoy getting pictures of and seeing.  So I went and boy was I glad I did.

This is just one of the many pictures that I took.  It happens to be a Metal Sculpture located at the Foundry Vineyards.  It was a pretty windy day and this actually moves.  I took a video of the sculpture moving (it's a bit shaky in parts) but I think you'll find it quite fascinating.

Please note that the sound goes off a few seconds into the video.  I had the radio on and a Jimi Hendrix's song was playing and apparently the video couldn't be played due to copyright laws so I had to delete the sound off the video.  (Brother!)

Also if you want to see more of Anthony Howe's work you can find it HERE:  The link will show you videos of this sculpture (Azlon) as well as several others that he has done.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit here today.  Have a great weekend.

Good Fences #130 & Little Things Thursday

Welcome! - It's been a good week.  Today I'll be joining in on the fun of Good Fences and Little Things Thursday.

 First up...

GOOD FENCES  hosted by Theresa (The Run-a-round Ranch Report.)

While out on a walk one day Coleen and I spotted this fun tree house in someone's yard so I stopped to take photos.  Of course you can see it's nicely fenced in and you can also see the next door neighbors lovely white picket fence as well.

Then while out driving around we spotted this one:

It's not your traditional tree house but it's really colorful and looks like it would be fun to play in.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let's join Tamar (Random-osity) for:

LITTLE THINGS THURSDAY

While out shooting some photos I stopped in at a local Antique Store and saw this adorable bird hanger on display outside.

I didn't buy it but I did photograp it & added a fun quote to the photo.

Hope you enjoy your day & look for those "little things" that make you happy.

* Special Announcement coming tomorrow

Willy Nilly Friday Five - March 4, 2016

Welcome!

It's Friday and time to join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for some
WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE randoms.

1.  I'm out taking a walk the other day and as I walked past the steps to a church I happened to notice this copper kettle sitting on the stoop below the stairs.  I just thought it was really an odd place for the kettle to be sitting so I snapped a photo of it (just because).  It made me think of Soup Kitchens for some reason.  If you click on the link you can read about the history of soup kitchens.  It's quite interesting especially since Al Capone even set up a soup kitchen.

2.  Huh? - Coleen and I spotted this graffiti on our walk yesterday.  Does anyone have a clue what kind of a statement they were trying to make?

For some fun check out this link (Art Crimes:City Walls) which will take you to various links for Graffiti around the world.

3.  I took another walk around the Whitman College campus the other day and happened upon another sculpture that I was not familiar with.  I snapped this photo of it.  It's called "Moongate" and you can read more about it by clicking on the link.

They certainly have some interesting pieces of art on the campus.

4. We've had some really nice days lately with temps in the mid-60's.  The sun was shining through the kitchen window the other day and I happened to snap this cute shot of our cat, Bandit enjoying the sunshine.

So for fun I decided to do a little editing and share with FELINE ART FRIDAY

Here is the edited version:

5.  Finally since spring is just around the corner (16 more days) I thought I'd share a fun little Fairy that Coleen and I spotted hanging from a tree while on one of our walks.

Have a beautiful day!  Thanks for stopping by.

Good Fences #72 - Monkey See, Monkey Do

Hello & Welcome.  -  Summer is going by so quickly and while I haven't done anything like travel it's still been a busy one. - Some days I just don't get around to visiting every one's blogs (forgive me) but I try to make sure that I participate in Theresa's meme:
GOOD FENCES

So last week I was telling Coleen that we needed to find some more new fences to share and she started telling me about a fence she had spotted that had cave people or monkeys on it.  Which do you think it was? (Hint, it's in the title of the blog post).

Anyway I decided to see if she could remember where the fence was so we went for a little drive and sure enough she directed me right to it.

It was pretty sunny outside so this first shot isn't the greatest but it shows off all of the fence so without further ado I present.....

Monkey See, Monkey Do!

This is a fun way to dress up a chain link fence for sure.  These monkeys are metal and seem to be having a great time.  Let's take a look at them a little bit closer.

I'm not exactly sure why the one monkey on the gate has a chain on it other then it seems to be chained to the fencing itself but none of the others were so I have no clue why they chain this fellow up.  Maybe he tried to escape!

I love the one on the swing eating the banana.  Aren't they fun!

Here's our little chained monkey up a bit closer.

He seems like a friendly chap.

Does this swinging monkey remind you of Cheetah from the Tarzan movies? I just found an article from 2011 (I know I'm behind the times) which said the Chimp from the Tarzan movies lived to be 80 years old!

These two female monkeys (notice the hair bows) seem to be doing some kind of a dance or else the one on the right has fleas!

Finally....

The fuzzy one on the left appears to be giving directions but the girl on the right (again the hair bow gives her away) seems to be a bit confused.

Maybe she's wondering if hanging around on a fence is more fun then a barrel of monkeys!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were people in the driveway talking while I was taking pictures,  I felt a bit nervous that they were going to wonder what on earth I was doing with a camera pointed at their house.  At any rate I snapped away and they didn't seem to care.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this fun chain link fence all decked out with monkeys.  Coleen gets full credit for helping me find this one.

Come back next week to see the other fence we discovered right across the road from this place.  It's a fun one too.

Good Fences#69 - Wheelie Good Fence

Hello! - I've been absent from the blog and from commenting on blogs for about a week now.  We've been dealing with some family issues that have taken up much of my time so I haven't been able to stop by your blogs like I normally do.  At any rate things are starting to calm down again so I hope to be popping by your blogs very soon.

Today I'm joining in on the fun of GOOD FENCES hosted by Theresa from, The Run-a-round Ranch Report.

We took a little drive up Mill Creek in the mountains the other day and I had to stop by once again and take some pictures of this unique fence.  -  It may have been featured here once before on the blog for a different meme but these are new photos so I'm going to share them. -  This property is owned by a man who runs a muffler shop in town.  He has a bunch of different figures at his place of business as well as on this property.

A view of the fence that runs down part of the property.

Same view - a little closer

 Getting closer still

Nice and Close

Check out the critter sitting on top of one of the wheels to the right of this shot.

Here's the same view further out and I believe there is another critter in the left of the photo.

Finally a couple of the critters that sit either on this fence or very near it.

Rock on Dude!

                                   Smile your on Candid Camera!

I hope you've enjoyed this fun and creative fence.  I know I always do when I drive past it.

Willy Nilly Time

Happy Friday! - Let's join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for some WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE fun.

1.  I spotted this piece of Southwestern art in someone's yard and stopped to take a photograph of it.  I think it's pretty cool looking.  I like Southwestern type art so I decided to look around for some on Google and well my mind wandered from one sight to another and eventually I found this place:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/BarbedWireArtist  It's of course very different art from this piece but I liked it.  On Page 4 is my favorite piece, The Bull Rider.

2.  While out looking for some new fences to share on (Good Fences)  I came across this flowering bush that produces bright orange berries in the fall.  I stopped to take pictures of the blooms and captured this bee.  As I said my mind wanders...and I begin to think about expressions like, "Busy as a Bee." and decided to look up where it came from.  I didn't find that one but I did find some others you might find intersting.  Check them out here:
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/animal-phrases.html

3.  I've been saving this photo (though I'm not sure why) for some time now.  One night we had "Breakfast for Dinner" and this was my hubby's plate of food.  I would never put ketchup on my eggs.  Of course hubby isn't allowed to eat all this kind of stuff now due to the heart issues but he does indulge in just a little of it now & then.  Like I've mentioned today I'm all over the place with Willy-Nilly stuff and since yesterday as I was at the doctor's I discovered Food Art I'm sharing this website with you.  This lady knows how to have fun with Banana's.

4.  Tomorrow is our annual Ducky Derby race.  I need to go buy my ducks today.  It's all for a good cause but one of these years I'd like for my duck to win the race.  You can check out more about this event here:

A shot from last year of one lone duck making it's way down stream to the finish line.

5. I had put my CAPTION THIS on hold for awhile since not very many were participating.  I'll give it another go around here today.  Here is this weeks photo for you to give a caption.  You'll have 1 week to do this.

I'll pick a winner on Thursday and announce your blog on Friday if you have the best caption.

BONUS:

6. We've officially fallen in love with our new little kitten, Bandit.  He goes in today for his 8 week shots.  I thought I'd share a fun shot of him and Harley asleep on the couch.

If you are up for some fun and interesting cats check out this website:
http://www.boredpanda.com/famous-cats/  You'll be charmed for sure.

This is also being shared for FELINE FRIDAY hosted by Steve (The Burnt Food Dude).

Have an awesome weekend.
