Thank you to everyone who wished me well on my Cataract surgery this week. - I am happy to report it was a HUGE success.
Now on to WILLY NILLY FRIDAY FIVE hosted by Tom The Backroads Traveller. - I'm doing last week & this week in this post.
1. Spotted this bush out on a walk. - You could almost call it a, Burning Bush.
2. Saw some deer on a drive recently. The one in the front had a hurt leg. You can see she's holding it up off the ground.
3. Squirrel leftovers? - Maybe someone picked it and was doing the loves me, loves me not routine. Who knows but it caught my attention.
4. Brightly colored oak leaves. Both are from the same tree.
5. These ducks were out and about for a little swim in a creek near the oak tree.
6. A little train graffiti
7. Some cheery daisies on a drizzly day.
8. Pumpkins for the kids
9. Mushroom - They seem to be popping up all over the place.
10. My mom loved to put up little decorative flags so after she passed away & my daughter moved into the house she is carrying on the tradition and bought this little flag to display.
That's it for me this week. - Leaving you with a song that is fitting for me this week.
It's all about "colors" this week. - Since February is generally a gloomy month (it's been rainy & overcast here most of the month) I thought I would add some photos of color that I spotted while out and about this week.
1.
Spring Crocus blooming in someone's yard. Don't they look cheery!
2.
Colorful Grafitti on a bridge.
3. The colors of an evening sunset this week looking down our street.
4. Some tree bark that I found colorful and fascinating.
5.
Sleeping cats on a Christmas blanket (I need to put that away). - This is also for FELINE FRIDAY
Leaving you with a couple of songs with a color in the song. Today's colors were: Green & Red.
It's Friday and time to join Tanya (Around Roanoke) for some WILLY-NILLY FRIDAY FIVE randoms.
1. I'm out taking a walk the other day and as I walked past the steps to a church I happened to notice this copper kettle sitting on the stoop below the stairs. I just thought it was really an odd place for the kettle to be sitting so I snapped a photo of it (just because). It made me think of Soup Kitchens for some reason. If you click on the link you can read about the history of soup kitchens. It's quite interesting especially since Al Capone even set up a soup kitchen.
2. Huh? - Coleen and I spotted this graffiti on our walk yesterday. Does anyone have a clue what kind of a statement they were trying to make?
For some fun check out this link (Art Crimes:City Walls) which will take you to various links for Graffiti around the world.
3. I took another walk around the Whitman College campus the other day and happened upon another sculpture that I was not familiar with. I snapped this photo of it. It's called "Moongate" and you can read more about it by clicking on the link.
They certainly have some interesting pieces of art on the campus.
4. We've had some really nice days lately with temps in the mid-60's. The sun was shining through the kitchen window the other day and I happened to snap this cute shot of our cat, Bandit enjoying the sunshine.
So for fun I decided to do a little editing and share with FELINE ART FRIDAY
Here is the edited version:
5. Finally since spring is just around the corner (16 more days) I thought I'd share a fun little Fairy that Coleen and I spotted hanging from a tree while on one of our walks.
1. Last Saturday my hubby, my mom, Coleen and I took a drive over to the Tri-Cities (Pasco, Kennewick & Richland, WA) to have dinner at the Red Lobster. On the way I tried to get some photos of some of the scenery. It's hard getting pictures through a dirty windshield and a hubby driving 70-80 mph. Anyway here is one of the shots I took of some Train Graffiti.
2. We also spotted these colorful beehives on the way.
I'm not sure why they are such different colors but it sure made for a great photo. - I did find an unusual article about bees and M & M's. Check it out HERE:
3. Spring is in full force here now and that means time spent outside planting flowers, weeding and watering. Here is a shot of one of my Azaleas and a Martha Washington Geranium.
I also can't resist showing this snowball bush from someone else's yard. I love these bushes. Maybe I should get one.
4. I've had a long history of being afraid of spiders. They just creep me out. What's strange though is that since I started doing photography I've found myself less intimidated by spiders. I spotted this "Jumping Spider" on my mom's shed and took some pictures of it.
5. Are you a fan of the Terminator series? I am (I know you wouldn't have thought that about me) but it's true. Here's a sneak peek at the new movie:
I can't wait for July 1st, I'll be checking this one out at the Theaters for sure.
Some bonus stuff:
My hubby got the pins removed from his broken finger on Monday. Thought I'd share a picture of the X-ray and the pins. He was most relieved about getting them removed and being able to move his finger again.
Our two youngest. The newest edition Bandit is on the left and Spooky-boo is on the right. These two have become "best buds" and often sleep together and love romping and playing together.
Have a great Mother's Day to all you Mother's out there.
Hi! Welcome and by now you know that it's Friday and time to join in on the awesomeness known as, Photo Art Friday over on Bonnie's blog, Pixel Dust Photo Art.
This week virtual art gallery theme was: Graffiti. Now I had big plans to try and be creative with this them but alas time got away from me and it just didn't happen. I still have a piece it's just not what I had in visioned in my head.
Please click to enlarge for a better view.
One day while I was walking around downtown I spotted these 2 doors on a building and thought they were rather interesting. Apparently people thought they were to be used for their own personal "Graffiti". If you look closely in the upper left corner of the left door someone scrawled: I'm not dead. I was born today. Act Alone.
I put the two photos side by side (sorry about the angle of the door on the right) - These doors were in a really weird place and it was hard to get decent photographs of them. They are actually both about the color of the one on the right. I did add Bonnie's texture (Cinnamon) to give them a richer/warmer feel. and also a little of the Urbane effect on Pic Monkey.
Do stop by and check out the gallery on Bonnie's blog. You won't be disappointed.
